People your age belong in a rocking chair, not at the fitness center. Didn’t you know that? You’re old. Your life is over half over, there’s no sense trying to trim your weight, is there? Besides your metabolic system is crashed and there’s no way to recover. These are just some of the lies that people tell themselves and others when it comes to weight loss. I might not be as old as you are, but I do know one thing for sure: you can lose weight. You can lose fat. You can get into shape. You can fee better and you can feel better about yourself. I’ve worked with people who were young, but in their mind they thought they were too old to make any progress with their body, especially if they’ve let themselves go for a while. How do you handle this kind of situation? My own experience shows me that age hasn’t done anything to slow me down. I know it has effects, but you don’t have to let them dominate you.
There’s no doubt in my mind that those who eat right and exercise now will have better lives in the future, regardless of how old you are. Good practices will pay off over time just like bad practices will. That’s why I think it’s important to get on a good program now. So go ahead and lose 20 pounds now.
