Happy Thanksgiving from the Health Ranger and the entire NaturalNews staff

(NaturalNews) Enjoy a very, very happy Thanksgiving! You’ve earned time with your family, away from the rat race of work. We all have so much to be thankful for right now, so it seems appropriate to have a holiday that celebrates it. What are you thankful for this Thanksgiving? I don’t even know where to begin. At the metaphysical level, I’m thanksful for the Creator, for the existence of our universe and for the consciousness we have mysteriously attained. On a more mundane level, I’m thankful for life on our planet, the miracle of seeds, the availability of soil to grow our food, and the incredible abundance of Mother Nature. On a more personal level, I’m thankful for the amazing healing capabilities of the human body, the astonishing functioning of the human brain (and its interface to the non-physical mind ), and for the life we’re given to discover more about ourselves and the universe around us. For some reason I still don’t quite understand, God gave me the gift of communication , and I am thankful for having been granted that set of abilities which I continue to dedicate to the pursuit of truth and awakening. I’m also thankful for a great many people — NaturalNews readers, for example, who are really the cutting edge of informed, conscious thinkers who represent the future of human civilization on our planet. Certain people like Ron Paul deserve special mention for their role in defending the role of liberty in the advancement of human civilization. What are you thankful for? It’s a great day to stop and consider how fortunate we are to be here, to be conscious beings, to have free will and to still have enough freedom so that we may exercise our First Amendment rights to speak our minds. Modern society is not yet lost, and we still have opportunities to restore liberty in America and around the world. We must work together to protect those fundamental human rights and freedoms, and from that place advance our civilization beyond wars, beyond territorial conflict, beyond the domination desires of the few and into the realm of uplifting human civilization rather than trying to keep it down. I believe such a time is coming, although there will no doubt be struggles in our immediate future as difficult historical lessons are learned. But even that is, in a way, something to be thankful for because how else can an infantile society mature into adulthood if it does not see the error of its ways and the consequences of its poor choices? We are living through an extraordinary time, witnessing the reluctant advancement of our own species which I hope may one day achieve something resembling adulthood. In the mean time, each of us must do our own personal best to remember what we have to be thankful for and then use what we have available to positively influence the direction in which humanity is moving. With that said, enjoy your Thanksgiving! Get plenty of rest, and eat plenty of healthy, nutritious food, because there is much more work yet to be done on this planet. You’ll need the calories… :-)

UK authorities mimic CDC by revealing self-defense strategy for when ‘zombies’ invade

(NaturalNews) Remember when the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released a bizarre and cryptic warning back in May warning Americans to prepare for a “zombie apocalypse” (http://www.naturalnews.com/032454_zombie_apocalypse_CDC.html). Well now authorities in the UK have apparently done the same thing, with supposedly “top secret” reports revealing contingency plans should there be an “outbreak” of zombies. According to a recent report in the UK’s Guardian , a man by the name of “P Store” contacted officials in Bristol and asked what plans the city had in place in the event of an invasion by the undead. Peter Holt, the city’s service director of communication and marketing, apparently responded to him by sharing a secret document that outlines preparation tactics for various levels of zombie invasion. “Please note that this document contains various reactions as it has been considered that some information contained therein must be redacted for the purpose of safeguarding national security,” states the letter’s headline. It then goes on to detail instructions for dealing with four stages of zombie invasion: ambient zombie level, enhanced activity level, major outbreak, and zombie pandemic level. The rest of the report notes areas around town that are more prone to zombie invasion than others, and instructs the staff to whom the document was originally written to listen for certain codewords on radio and television that are indicative of a zombie invasion. Even more bizarre are the instructions for dealing with a zombie should an individual run into one. “Fully connect the brain-stem from the body through either blunt force of full head removal,” states the instructions. It also highlights the availability of handcuffs, tasers, protection suits, and other necessary equipment through the staff intranet. The document was released in accordance with a Freedom of Information request, and is oddly similar to the strange announcement made by the CDC back in May. Daiya, a soy-free, vegan cheese that actually tastes like cheese

(NaturalNews) Many Natural News readers are probably aware of the many “cheese-free” cheeses on the market. Most of them are derived from soy, which more often than not is genetically-modified (GMO), and many of them lack the characteristics of cheese that would make a person want to actually eat them. Some do not melt, others do not even taste like cheese, and still others are filled with artificial chemicals and processed fillers. There is one brand, though, that stands apart from the rest. Daiya, a dairy-free, vegan cheese is definitely one of the best cheese alternatives on the market. There are many varieties of cheese alternatives available, but Daiya is arguably the best one out there based on its excellent taste, texture and ingredients. Tapioca and arrowroot flours, non-GMO canola and safflower oils, coconut oil and pea protein are some of the primary ingredients that make up Daiya. Though not certified organic, the product is a good start in an otherwise vacant landscape of quality, vegan cheeses. Because it is still somewhat difficult to source organic gluten-free flours, it makes sense that not every gluten-free product, especially those that are sold on a large scale, is fully organic. As the industry burgeons, the availability of certified organic gluten-free flours should increase, and hopefully Daiya will make this transition in the future. Daiya cheese is free of soy, casein, lactose, gluten, egg, wheat, barley, corn, rice and nuts. There are no artificial ingredients, preservatives, hormones, antibiotics, or animal products of any kind. Daiya melts like cheese, grates like cheese and tastes like cheese. Fortunately, for those with dairy issues, Daiya does not digest like cheese, but rather digests like other whole, plant-based product. Currently, Daiya is used primarily in the foodservice industry, but is growing in retail availability nationwide. It is great for making pizza, as a salad topping, or on a grilled-cheese sandwich, and it contains no cholesterol or trans-fats. It currently comes in two varieties: cheddar and Italian blend. In 2009, Daiya won a “Product of the Year Veggie Award” from VegNews, America’s premier vegetarian lifestyle magazine. Over 35,000 readers voted in the survey, which highlights the best vegetarian products available and is the largest survey of its kind. After tasting it, it is easy to see why it won this award. Daiya truly is a delicious and healthy vegan product. Its only drawbacks are that it is not certified organic, it contains conventional salt rather than sea salt, and it is relatively low in protein. But for what it is, Daiya is one of the best in its class. If you cannot or choose not to eat dairy products but wish to enjoy a meal with cheese every now and again, Daiya is definitely a top choice. Daiya is available at many Whole Foods stores and at many local health food stores nationwide. Some local health restaurants also carry and use Daiya.
