Vitamin Water exposed as sugar water in Food Investigations video

(NaturalNews) In a new Food Investigations video entitled, “The Vitamin Water Deception,” the non-profit Consumer Wellness Center (www.ConsumerWellness.org) takes aim at the misleading marketing and high sugar content of Vitamin Water (a Coca-Cola product). The video was created by the Consumer Wellness Center and narrated by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, who also created the hugely popular “Blueberry Deception” video which has received over one million views across the internet. Watch the Vitamin Water Deception at: http://naturalnews.tv/v.asp?v=9D14AA3725876EF038F606C4819B3677 Or YouTube at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z8lLp26HaZY In this video report, you’ll learn: • Why Vitamin Water is mostly just “sugar water.” • Why the vitamins used in Vitamin Water are really just synthetic chemicals. • How Coca-Cola altered the serving size of the beverage, making the sugar content appear to be less than what it really is. • Why Vitamin Water advertising and marketing is misleading. • The shocking truth of how even Coca-Cola’s own attorneys publicly admitted that Vitamin Water is not a “healthy beverage.” (http://www.naturalnews.com/029425_vitaminwater_Coca-Cola.html) • Why one health group calls Vitamin Water “non-carbonated soda” and claim it contributes to weight gain, diabetes, obesity and other diseases. • What to drink that’s far better for you than Vitamin Water. • Why the fruit flavor varieties of Vitamin Water contain no actual fruit . • The truth of how Vitamin Water uses the cheap synthetic form of Vitamin B12 – Cyanocobalamin, which contains cyanide molecules. • Why Vitamin Water is dead, processed food that has been pasteurized. Old media news networks even ripped off the story and ran their own version of it, propping up their in-house personalities as the “experts” who “discovered” the very same things about food that Mike Adams first exposed in Food Investigations. The first episode of Food Investigations, The Blueberry Deception , exposed the use of fake blueberries in cereals, bagels, breads and other products made by mainstream food companies such as General Mills and Kellogg’s. Shortly after this episode was released by the Consumer Wellness Center, Kellogg’s changed the box for one of their blueberry cereals, altering their text and removing the pictures of blueberries from one of the side panels. Fox News covers fake blueberries story uncovered by Health Ranger

(NaturalNews) Last week we released a stunning new Food Investigations video (www.FoodInvestigations.com) showing that many of the blueberries used in popular cereals, muffins, bagels and other foods are faked . Instead of using real blueberries, companies like General Mills use artificial colors, hydrogenated oils and liquid sugars to manufacture small bits that mimic the look of blueberries. In that story, we revealed how General Mills’ cereal called Total Blueberry Pomegranate Cereal contains neither blueberries, nor pomegranates! You can watch the revealing video here: http://naturalnews.tv/v.asp?v=7EC06D27B1A945BE85E7DA8483025962 Normally, the mainstream media has zero interest in covering actual investigative stories that matter to consumers. But today, Fox News was the first media outlets to actually cover this story in a very fair and balanced article that you can read here: http://www.foxnews.com/health/2011/01/26/investigation-finds-fruity-foods-dont-contain-real-fruit/ From reading the story, it is apparent that Fox News contacted General Mills and confirmed our original report , verifying that Total Blueberry Pomegranate Cereal, for example, contains absolutely no blueberries! Our investigation also revealed how Kellogg’s Frosted Mini Wheats Blueberry Muffin cereal does not contain blueberries, either. Fox News contacted Kellogg’s about the matter, and they said — get this — that “The term ‘Blueberry Muffin’ is used to describe the flavor of some products. All our products are labeled in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.” In other words, as long as there isn’t a law against misleading consumers about the fake ingredients in their products, they’re going to keep doing it, it seems. NaturalNews encourages consumers to continue boycotting General Mills over their deceptively labeled cereals and fake blueberry ingredients. When I write stories here on NaturalNews that expose the truths behind the dishonest corporations that rule our world, I never expect these stories to get mentioned in the mainstream media. That’s because most of our stories go after the very same corrupt, dishonest corporations that fund most media — pharmaceutical companies, for example, or processed food manufacturers. Most media outlets simply refuse to publish stories that offend their advertisers. So these stories are usually circulated exclusively through the “alternative press” circles, which include blogs, Facebook pages, tweets, and alternative news sites like Infowars.com or Rense.com. The mainstream media, for the most part, simply tries to ignore NaturalNews, not realizing that we are slowly taking all their readers! As newspaper circulation drops by the day, NaturalNews readership keeps rising. When we called out the LA Times for writing an article that literally recommended “preventive chemotherapy” for women who have no breast cancer (but who are afraid they might get it one day), the LA Times never even responded. They simply try to pretend that the alternative press doesn’t exist, even while their own readership is slowly slipping away. People prefer to read the truth about matters, not just some corporate spin B.S. that you normally get in popular newspapers. NaturalNews is journalism 2.0 , and we do investigations (yes, investigations!) about topics that matter to real people. And we speak directly to our audience. I write in the first person. Why? Because I don’t try to pretend that this is all being said by some unnamed authoritative voice that has no opinions or passions. In journalism school, they tell you to basically “write like a robot” and leave your own experience and passions out of it. I think that’s nonsense. People want to hear from real people. Readers want to know not only what you found out, but what you feel and believe, too . Readers want to know the people behind the news: Who’s writing that news? What do they really believe? What do they feel passionate about? That’s why here at NaturalNews, I write from the heart, and I share my passions, experience, hopes and concerns with readers every single day. We certainly welcome mainstream coverage of our stories, but we never expect it. And frankly, we don’t need it. Independent news organizations like NaturalNews are gaining all the readers that the mainstream print news juggernauts are losing. There’s a reason for that. And I think that reason is pretty simple: People are tired of corporate press releases being repackaged as “news.” They’re tired of being spoon fed a pack of lies each day. They want to know what’s really going on in the world, with GMOs, vaccines, health freedom, nutritional science, natural cures and much more. It is only the independent news sites like NaturalNews that usually bring people such news. Thank you for your continued support. Oh, and by the way, for the record I will state right here that NaturalNews *never* accepts money from any drug companies, processed food manufacturers, vaccine companies, pesticide manufacturers or anything else that we see as harmful. I would rather stay small and poor than to ever accept sponsorship money from a corporation that we know harms humanity or the planet. You will NEVER see NaturalNews taking sponsorship money from those companies. And about the Google ads on our articles, we keeping banning every drug ad that shows up there, but the drug companies keep coming up with new URLs to use. So we’re doing the best we can to ban those ads as quickly as possible. In the long run, we may need to find a better solution or work with Google to find some way to disallow all pharma ads entirely. I hate it when I open an article on NaturalNews and I see some pharma ad there because Google’s ad algorithm selected it. Believe me, we are constantly trying to BAN all those ads! (And we’re pretty effective most of the time.) Be sure to check out the Fox News story about our blueberry discovery here: http://www.foxnews.com/health/2011/01/26/investigation-finds-fruity-foods-dont-contain-real-fruit/ I have to give Fox News kudos for having the courage to actually publish this story. They have done what most other news outlets refuse to do: Print a story that is 100% in the interests of consumers , not the corporate advertisers. If you get a chance, you may wish to share their story or send them a thanks for being willing to even cover it.
Total Blueberry Pomegranate cereal from General Mills contains no blueberries and no pomegranates

(NaturalNews) A cereal offered by General Mills called “Total Blueberry Pomegranate” cereal has been characterized as a “total fraud” by investigative journalist Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, as part of a non-profit Food Investigations documentary being shown at www.FoodInvestigations.com Volunteering his research efforts under the non-profit Consumer Wellness Center, the Health Ranger found that Total Blueberry Pomegranate cereal contained neither blueberries nor pomegranates . Source: General Mills website nutrition facts label, downloaded January 19, 2011: http://www.naturalnews.com/images/Total_Blueberry_Pomegranate.jpg Yet it is called “Total Blueberry Pomegranate Cereal” and positioned as a highly nutritious cereal with the words “100% nutrition,” “Blueberry” and “Pomegranate” appearing prominently on the front of the box, in a very large font size. While the cereal contains no actual blueberries or pomegranates, it does contain eight different sweeteners: Sugar, Corn Syrup, Barley Malt Extract, Brown Sugar Syrup, Malt Syrup, Sucralose, Molasses and Honey. The blueberry-like appearance of small bits in the cereal are accomplished through the use of artificial colors like Red #40 and Blue #2 , combined with various oils and sweeteners such as soybean oil and sugar. “When consumers buy Total Blueberry Pomegranate Cereal, they fully expect it to contain at least some amount of real blueberries and pomegranates,” explained award-winning investigative journalist Mike Adams, who narrates the Food Investigations video. “For General Mills to use these words on the front of the box and then fail to deliver any actual blueberries or pomegranates in the product is extremely deceptive.” “By choosing to pursue this deception, General Mills has tarnished its reputation among consumers worldwide who are now learning they cannot trust General Mills products to be honestly labeled,” Adams added. Adams is a strong proponent of real blueberries and pomegranates, which he describes as “plant-based medicines” that offer powerful nutritional support for preventing degenerative disease. Over the last several years as the news about the health benefits of blueberries and pomegranates has spread, large food companies have jumped on the bandwagon and attempted to use blueberries or pomegranates in their formulations. “General Mills jumped on the blueberry bandwagon but forgot to bring the blueberries,” Adams added. Adams suggests General Mills should change the name of their cereal to “Totally NOT Blueberries and Pomegranates.” This episode of Food Investigations is available for free at: www.FoodInvestigations.com Join the online protest against General Mills General Mills is not an evil company, at least not in the sense of “Monsanto evil.” Although they made a huge mistake with their misleading Total Blueberry Pomegranate cereal, they do provide several healthy brands such as Cascadian Farm and Muir Glen . They also bought Larabar a year or two ago, and that’s a decent food bar (although it’s still not organic). We want to help educate General Mills to the fact that customers are smarter than they think . We are paying attention, and we will boycott General Mills when they decide to treat us like consumer morons. Join us in contacting General Mills and urging them to stop their deceptive marketing practices that deceive consumers about what’s really inside the box. Use the following contact page to offer your feedback: http://generalmills.com/en/ContactUs.aspx Sample comment you may wish to submit: I am a General Mills customer who is appalled at the dishonest product naming and labeling used to promote Total Blueberry Pomegranate Cereal, which contains no blueberries nor pomegranates. I am joining an online protest organized by NaturalNews.com and the non-profit Consumer Wellness Center to urge you to recall this falsely-labeled product and either change the product name and labeling or reformulate it to contain actual blueberries and pomegranates. As a health-conscious consumer, I strongly object to your use of these superfoods in the name and labeling of your Total cereal when your own ingredients reveal the blueberries to be faked through the use of artificial food coloring chemicals, vegetable oils and processed sugars. Until such time that you announce your intention to remedy the misleading labeling and marketing of your Total cereal product, I will join NaturalNews.com in boycotting all General Mills products as a measure of protest against deceptive marketing practices. Regards, (Type your name here) Keep in mind that if you give General Mills your *real* email address in their contact form, they will obviously have your email. (And I’m not sure how they will use it.) So you may wish to use a throwaway email address when using their feedback form. That’s up to you. I personally don’t want General Mills sending me promotional emails for Lucky Charms.

Superfood Cereals: A review of the most delicious and nutritious superfoods for morning meals

(NaturalNews) I grew up eating a lot of cereal. Sadly, it wasn’t the healthiest stuff, either: Lucky Charms, Frosted Flakes, Froot Loops and other sugary processed foods drowned in pasteurized, processed cow’s milk. Sometimes I wonder how I ever survived my childhood diet… Even as a health-conscious adult, I still find myself enjoying a bowl of healthy cereal, but of course now I use almond milk or sometimes rice milk instead of cow’s milk. As far as the cereal itself goes, finding a really nutritious and delicious breakfast cereal has been a challenge for a number of years: The mainstream so-called “healthy” processed cereals at the grocery store are all dead, processed foods usually made with extra fiber, less sugar or whole grains — just enough to call them “healthy” when, by my standards, they aren’t very healthy at all. Even most so-called “all natural” cereals still don’t meet the standards of what I’d like to put into my body on a regular basis. So over the last several years, I’ve been on the lookout for a really high-end, raw breakfast cereal based entirely on organic, non-GMO superfood ingredients. I’ve sampled many different products from dozens of companies, and there are now three that I would recommend. You’ll see all three mentioned here, but my very favorite among all the raw superfood cereals is called, quite simply, Superfood Cereal . Superfood Cereals It’s made by a company called Living Intentions based in San Francisco, and it’s available in four flavors: Acai Blueberry, Cacao Crunch, Chia Ginger and Hemp and Greens. You can find many of these in your local health food stores. We also now carry them in the Natural News store at http://store.naturalnews.com/index.php?main_page=advanced_search_result&search_in_description=0&keyword=superfood+cereal&x=0&y=0 These cereals are really outstanding. They have a delicious taste and texture, but without resorting to refined or chemical sweeteners of any kind. They’re all based on organic buckwheat sprouts as their No. 1 ingredient, and if you know about buckwheat, you know it’s a super high-protein grain that transforms into a nutritional powerhouse when sprouted! I’ve often made my own raw buckwheat cereals at home, and I love the fact that I can now get buckwheat in these superfood cereals. The other ingredients are just as impressive: Chia seeds, amaranth sprouts, quinoa sprouts, Hawthorn Berry and many others that are just as impressive. At the same time, these characteristics of the cereal are quite remarkable. All Superfood Cereals are: • Sprouted • Gluten free • Dairy free • Nut free • Non-GMO • Raw And it goes without saying that they’re not made with refined sugars, refined grains, artificial flavors, colors or sweeteners of any kind! Pick some up right now at the NaturalNews Store: http://store.naturalnews.com/index.php?main_page=advanced_search_result&search_in_description=0&keyword=superfood+cereal&x=0&y=0 Superfoods for breakfast? Sure! Breakfast, they say, is the most important meal of the day. The average American breakfast is far too high in processed meats (sausage and bacon), dairy products (milk and butter) and refined sugars and carbs (white toast, jelly and sugary cereals). A typical American breakfast, in fact, is little more than a hodge-podge of refined factory foods enhanced with toxic chemicals and artificial colors. I wouldn’t feed that stuff to an animal, much less my own children! Can you imagine what kind of difference it would make in someone’s day if they switched from a toxic “average” breakfast to a superfood breakfast? Imagine going to work or school fueled by raw superfoods and sprouted foods that just happen to taste super delicious at the same time. Personally, I believe that a nutrient-dense breakfast that avoids all the toxic chemicals and refined ingredients found in traditional breakfast habits can make all the difference in your day. There’s no doubt that people who live on real foods rather than junk foods have improved learning performance, better sustained energy and improved moods and optimism. That’s why one of the most important questions you can ask yourself when deciding what to eat is, “How good do I wish to feel today?” If you want to feel fantastic, start your day with superfoods nutrition! What’s in it Superfood Cereal is hands down the best raw superfood breakfast cereal I’ve ever tried. And as you well know by now, I’m extremely picky about what kinds of things I advocate or offer, and I’m thrilled to call these Superfood Cereals “Health Ranger recommended.” In fact, when award time rolls around again, I plan on offering this cereal line a Natural News Editor’s Choice award. Their ingredients are really impressive, too. Here’s what’s in their Acai Blueberry flavor: Organic Buckwheat Sprouts, Organic Coconut, Local Blackberry Honey, Organic Currants, Raw Brown Rice Bran and Germ (grain-free), Organic Sunflower Sprouts, Organic Banana, Berry Antioxidant Blend (Organic Blueberry Powder, Organic Acai Powder, Bilberry Powder, Camu Camu Fruit Powder, Elderberry Powder and Amla Berry Powder) and Pink Crystal Salt. Compare this to the typical breakfast cereals you find on the shelves — even “healthy” cereals: They’re typically made almost entirely from corn, wheat and sugar. And a lot of that is genetically modified, too (both the corn and the sugar). I don’t know about you, but I’m just not interested in fattening myself up like a cow by feeding myself corn and sugar for breakfast. Check the ingredients on the cereal in your own cupboard, if you dare. You may find that far too much of it is just corn, wheat and sugar. That’s why I’m happy to talk about these healthier options that are based on truly healthful, gluten-free formulations. And Superfood Cereal tastes so incredibly good that you’ll probably forget you’re eating a “healthy” breakfast cereal in the first place. Other great cereal products There are two other highly nutritious raw breakfast cereal products I also currently recommend: Ruth’s Foods Chia Goodness (www.RuthsFoods.com) and the entire cereal line from Kaia Foods (http://www.kaiafoods.com/about.html). Both are outstanding products that are also aligned with my philosophy of healthful food ingredients. I plan to review and recommend many of Ruth’s Foods products in the near future, in fact. Her Chia Goodness is also available at the NaturalNews Store (http://store.naturalnews.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=0&products_id=1001839), but it’s more of a plain cereal for the true hard-core raw foodies. I’ll share more details on this product later. Enjoy your superfood breakfast cereals!
