(NaturalNews) There’s a lot of gift-giving going on this holiday season, but much of it is unfortunately founded in toxic gifts that actually cause cancer. Perfumes and colognes, for example, contain over 20 cancer-causing chemicals. Holiday meats and sausages almost always contain a chemical that causes cancer and diabetes. See the complete write-up of this in an accompanying article here on NaturalNews. If you’re giving gifts this holiday season, why not consider healthy gifts that people can enjoy without getting cancer or diabetes? Give the gift of happiness and health, not cancer and death. (Kinda makes sense, eh?) To help in this effort, we’ve put an solid selection of health-promoting gifts together for you at the NaturalNews Store. Click here to see the specials. These gifts include: • Himalayan Salt Lamps – an incredibly practical gift because they function both as a lamp and an emergency supply of full-spectrum salt that you can actually eat! On sale right now at the best price you’ll find on the ‘net. • Tri-Field Meters – they show you the electromagnetic pollution impacting your health. Turn this on near your circuit breaker box and you’ll be astonished. Or check the EMF pollution levels of your microwave, your coffee maker, your computer and your television. (Or check out your cell phone, if you dare…) • B-12 Energy Patches – using the high-end form of B-12 (methylcobalamin), these patches support the skin absorption of this critical nutrient that’s missing from the diets of many people, especially those who eat less meat. • Organic Sun-Cured Vanilla Bean Powder – this is the vanilla bean powder I use, and it’s so potent and unique that just 1/16th of a teaspoon will drastically improve the taste of almost any fruit smoothie or superfood blend. This is the real stuff, and we’ve got it at a far lower price than you’ll find anywhere else. • Himalayan Crystal Salt – a smart barter item and a thoughtful gift. It’s a full-spectrum salt that’s hand-mined from ancient salt caves. This is the real deal. Not processed or bleached out. Great for cooking as well as preparedness for uncertain times. • REJUVANTE Berries and Herbs superfood – we’ve got Rejuvenate and lots of other superfoods on sale right now at the NaturalNews Store! These are the superfoods I personally use to make smoothies, support healthy brain function, and provide superior nutrition in an age where most people are eating nutrient-depleted processed junk foods. • MegaFood vitamins – these are food-based nutritional supplements that deliver key nutrients such as selenium and zinc in a food format (not just ground-up rocks and minerals). • Astaxanthin, chlorella, Dragon Herbs, Chia Seeds, Coconut Oil and much more… the specials at the NaturalNews Store are greater than ever! Ola Loa is a healthy alternative to sugar-laden children’s vitamins and sports drinks

November 8, 2011 by

(NaturalNews) A recent report from NaturalNews about children’s vitamins and sports drinks lets you know many of the popular mainstream brands of both of these types of products contain large amounts of sugar. Several of our readers wrote asking for suggestions on what they can use to replace the sugary substances. NaturalNews publisher Mike Adams has researched this, and strongly recommends one product line which offers both a tasty yet low sugar drinkable vitamin and excellent sports drink — Ola Loa. Absorption Doctor-formulated Ola Loa vitamins come in flavored packets which you can mix with water. This offers a tremendous advantage because swallowing pills, especially large ones, can create digestive stress on the body. Many people have difficulty absorbing the nutrients contained in vitamin tablets so they receive little nutritive value for the money they spend on vitamins. Nutritional experts believe many people lose as much as 70% of the nutrient value contained in most vitamin pills. Drinking your vitamins enables your body to absorb them more easily. Compared to other powdered vitamin lines, Ola Loa offers a more complete package of vitamins and nutrients as well as a lower sugar content. Whereas some powdered vitamin products are essentially 90% sugar with only 5% nutritional value, Ola Loa reverses the proportions, delivering approximately 85% nutrients paired with only one gram of sugar. That single gram of sugar derives from fructose, not sucrose, so that Ola Loa has no effect on the body’s glycemic system. This makes it healthy for everyone, including children and diabetics. Children’s Formula Ola Loa Multivitamin formula for kids, contains no preservatives or artificial colors and provides vitamin C, selenium and zinc to protect the immune system as well as B vitamins for energy production. Ola Loa proves that it is possible to produce a great-tasting vitamin product that even kids will enjoy without using the preservatives, artificial colors or chemical sweeteners that many other companies rely on to make their products palatable to children. Sports Formula Ola Loa Sport formula provides hydration, energy electrolytes and vitamin C to provide athletes with the support they need to avoid dehydration or energy depletion after intense activity. Ola Loa Sport outperforms major sports drinks brands in delivering electrolytes as well as key restorative nutrients magnesium, folic acid and vitamin B12. Unlike those corporate-owned brands, Ola Loa contains only natural ingredients. Whereas some sports and energy drinks contain stimulants like caffeine or ephreda, Ola Loa provides a dose of the valuable antioxidant CoQ10. CoQ10 is vital to enable the mitochondria in the cells to engage in the energy reactions that they need to stay alive. The body produces some CoQ10 naturally however chronic illness can slow this biosynthesis. Also, many of pharmaceutical drugs, particularly statins, Big Pharma’s pseudo-solution to high cholesterol, inhibit the body’s production of CoQ10. Consuming CoQ10 in a drinkable form provides cellular rather than artificial energy. Ola Loa also stands out from its competitors in offering a healthier form of vitamin B12. Many vitamin products use a form of B12 known as cyanocobalamin. This less expensive version of B12 can be toxic, especially for people who have low antioxidant protection. In high doses, it can cause neurologic problems and even blindness. Ola Loa uses a different form of B12, hydroxycobalamin, which does not have this potential toxicity and which permits the body to utilize the energy benefits of B12 more readily. Instant Benefits Since Ola Loa formulas are drinkable, they offer the same instant energy boost as sublingual vitamins. People who drink Ola Loa often report an instant boost in energy and mood. If you were one of the many people who asked NaturalNews for suggestions on healthy alternatives, Ola Loa is the perfect choice. Electric car company uses $529 million in U.S. federal loans to assemble cars in Finland

(NaturalNews) The federal government is having a good time freely dispensing billions of taxpayer dollars to green energy companies, despite the fact that it appears to have no solid game plan for determining which initiatives are viable, and which ones will go the way of Solyndra. And now ABC News reports that the US Department of Energy’s (DOE) $529 million loan to Fisker Automotive, a high-end electric hybrid automobile startup company, has been used to establish a manufacturing plant in Finland rather than in the US. Henrik Fisker claims his company could not find a suitable manufacturing facility in the US to build its cars, and instead had no choice but to contract an overseas facility through the Finnish firm Valmet Automotive. He also claims that none of the US-based loan money is being used to pay workers at the Finnish plant, and that the company is utilizing American designers and engineers to innovate the vehicles. But verifying whether or not the venture is advancing in the way Fisker claims is difficult, as a Government Accountability Office (GAO) audit conducted earlier this year found that DOE is ill-equipped to properly manage the loans it is distributing. And a situation like what occurred with Solyndra, the failed California-based solar energy technology company, could eventually occur with a company like Fisker as well, which will leave American taxpayers to foot the bill (http://www.naturalnews.com/033606_Solyndra_emails.html). “DOE cannot be assured that the projects are on track to deliver the vehicles as agreed,” says the GAO report concerning Fisker. “It also means that US taxpayers do not know whether they are getting what they paid for through the loans.” Fisker is already more than a year behind schedule with releasing its $97,000 luxury hybrid, according to ABC News . And its plan to use federal loan money to mass produce a $57,400 Model S sedan is also questionable, as the company allegedly has no experience in implementing this type of large-scale production capacity, and has yet to even release a simple picture or concept drawing of the supposed vehicle. Fisker did purchase a former General Motors manufacturing facility in Wilmington, Del., where Vice President Joe Biden emphatically proclaimed several years ago would eventually be home to a domestic Fisker manufacturing plant. But to this day, there are still no Fisker vehicles being produced there, and the only progress that has been made so far has been overseas. Raw organic foods have stronger ‘energy field’ than cooked or pasteurized conventional foods

October 6, 2011 by

(NaturalNews) Food is food, some might claim, and it does not really matter whether or not it is cooked or raw, conventional or organic. The nutritive value remains the same regardless. Or does it? A recent report from Activist Post explains that, based on analysis using a technique known as Kirlian photography, researchers have discovered that the energy fields surrounding raw, organic produce are stronger and more uniform than the energy fields surrounding cooked, conventional produce. This discovery was made possible by an earlier one stumbled upon by the late Semyon Kirlian, a Russian inventor, back in 1939. Kirlian learned that, when connected to a source of voltage, an object placed in contact with a photovoltaic plate will produce a corresponding image of that object on the plate. And the resulting image will also contain a visual display of the object’s electrical “aura,” of sorts, that both surrounds and emanating from it. The theory behind this energy field, of course, is that the stronger and more vibrant it is, the healthier and more “alive” the object. And based on this theory, it has been observed that the energy field of an apple, for instance, is the strongest right after it has first been picked. The longer it remains off the tree and is allowed to ripen, the weaker its energy field becomes. In the documentary The Beautiful Truth , which was released in 2008, a team of scientists used Kirlian photography to analyze various foods. They found that organic foods emitted a clearly more vibrant and harmonious energy field than conventional foods. Raw foods also fared better in the energy department than cooked and pasteurized foods, the latter of which appeared duller and less uniform than their raw counterparts. You can view a roughly two-minute clip from the film where the Kirlian technique is used here: http://youtu.be/suBjc9rIFNY If this energy field is truly indicative of a food’s “life source,” then it appears as though whole, clean foods eaten as close as possible to the way nature intended are more life-giving than over-processed, pesticide-ridden foods. It also means that simply counting calories and looking at ingredient content are not enough to determine the true nutritional capacity of food. The dark side of energy drinks – risking your health for temporary stimulation

October 6, 2011 by

(NaturalNews) Energy drinks have become a modern day phenomenon, with tens of millions now being consumed daily. What’s not to like about having more energy and alertness, particularly if it comes from beverages which often tout herbal and other “natural” ingredients? As it turns out, there is a very great deal not to like – including unhealthy ingredients and potentially dangerous health consequences. Some of the more common unwelcome side effects of energy drinks include elevated heart rates, hypertension, anxiety, headaches and interrupted sleep patterns. Earlier this year, a report in the medical journal Pediatrics warned against energy drinks and cited potential harms including heart palpitations, seizures, strokes and even sudden death. Late last year, poison control centers started tracking energy drink overdoses and side effects nationwide. 677 cases occurred from October through December. The chart’s list of reported energy drink-related symptoms included seizures, hallucinations, rapid heart rate, chest pain, high blood pressure and irritability. The two most common ingredients found in energy drinks are sugar and caffeine; both of which provide temporary stimulation but can result in actual long term energy loss due to stressing the adrenal glands and causing adrenal fatigue. Just one of a huge number of health risks caused by processed sugar is the risk of diabetes, a disease which has reached epidemic proportions in the U.S. Very large amounts of sugar can ultimately overwhelm the pancreas, the organ which generates insulin to offset sugar intake. If the pancreas becomes “worn out” by being overworked from too much sugar, diabetes can begin. Some energy drinks contain up to 7 times as much caffeine as a cup of coffee. While small amounts of caffeine are not generally considered dangerous, too much can over stimulate the central nervous system and can dangerously elevate blood pressure and heart rate. Caffeine is also addictive and withdrawal symptoms include headaches and irritability. Caffeine also causes a loss in valuable B vitamins which are needed for “normal” energy creation. When sugar is not used, dangerous artificial sweeteners are employed. Perhaps the most dangerous is aspartame; though increasingly, the sugar substitute of choice has become sucralose. Sucralose is a chlorinated organic compound, a chemical group which includes several compounds known to be harmful to animals and plants and which has been linked to birth defects and other prenatal conditions. The body does not recognize artificial sweeteners like sucralose as food, but instead essentially processes them as toxins. Other potentially dangerous ingredients commonly found in energy drinks include: *Sodium benzoate. Last year a study conducted by an expert in molecular biology and biotechnology linked the common energy drink preservative sodium benzoate to cell damage and an increase in the production of free radicals. Even more concerning, sodium benzoate in combination with vitamin C causes the potent carcinogen benzene. *Phenylalanine. Though an essential amino acid, phenylalanine is also a neurotoxin and is one of the three main ingredients which make up aspartame. Too much can excite the neurons in the brain to the point of cellular death. *Guarana. Guarana (or guaranine) comes from the seeds of the guarana plant, which contain up to 3 to 4 times the caffeine as coffee beans. *Ephedra. Ephedra has been described as a drug that increases heart rate and blood pressure at low doses and causes strokes, seizures, and possibly even death at high doses. There are far safer options for achieving greater energy than energy drinks, such as super foods powders for example. The very best long term option is an active lifestyle combined with adequate sleep, avoidance of energy robbing toxins and stress and a healthy nutrient-dense diet. Siemens abandons nuclear energy in favor of renewable following Fukushima disaster

(NaturalNews) A major, long-time player in the nuclear technology industry, Germany-based Siemens has announced that it is leaving the nuclear energy business for good. Citing “German society and politics clear position on ending nuclear energy,” Siemens CEO Peter Loscher also referenced the ongoing Fukushima disaster in Japan as another reason why his company is switching to safer, more renewable technologies like wind and solar. “The chapter is closed for us,” Loscher is quoted as saying in Spiegel Online , concerning the company’s withdrawal from the nuclear industry. “We will no longer be involved in managing the building or financing of nuclear parts.” Siemens is a large producer of mechanical parts and other materials used in nuclear and other energy industries. The company has also been involved in the production of all nuclear reactors currently operating in Germany, having even made joint plans with Russia-based nuclear firm Rosatom not too long ago to build 400 more nuclear reactors by 2030. But those plans have now been officially scrapped. While the announcement may initially come as a surprise to some, it actually makes good sense in light of the country’s long-range nuclear plans. Shortly after the 9.0+ mega-earthquake and resultant tsunami struck Japan back in March, German Chancellor Angel Merkel announced that her country would be shutting down all of its nuclear plants by 2022 (http://www.naturalnews.com/031831_Germany_nuclear_energy.html). “Germany’s shift towards renewable energies is the project of the century,” added Loscher, noting that his company will continue to produce some of the same components it always has, many of which have dual uses in both the nuclear and non-nuclear energy industries. But at the same time, it will be expanding operations in anticipation of Germany’s 2020 energy goals, which include deriving 35 percent of its energy production from renewable sources by that time. Meanwhile, the German government is currently facing legal backlash for its implementation of a federal tax on nuclear fuel rods, a move that many allege is unconstitutional. And others are challenging the legality of even shutting down Germany’s nuclear plants in the first place (http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/sep/19/germany-faces-backlash-from-closing-nuclear-plants/).
