Gingrich wants what never was and can never be – a more aggressive drug war policy that works

(NaturalNews) Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is rising in the polls and could very well wind up being the next Republican presidential nominee. Like him or despise him, one knock against him is his publicly stated desire for something that hasn’t worked and can never work – a more “aggressive” drug policy and an absolute prohibition on medical marijuana. In an interview last month, Gingrich changed his mind since 1981, when he first introduced legislation to legalize marijuana. “What has changed was the number of parents I met with who said they did not want their children to get the signal from the government that it was acceptable behavior and that they were prepared to say as a matter of value that it was better to send a clear signal on no drug use at the risk of inconveniencing some people, than it was to be compassionate toward a small group at the risk of telling a much larger group that it was okay to use the drug,” he said. “My general belief is that we ought to be much more aggressive about drug policy.” The facts don’t bear that a “more aggressive” drug policy works, considering the “war on drugs” the U.S. has been waging since the 1980s. What has happened is this: millions of Americans have been jailed for smoking marijuana, and yet marijuana use has only grown over the past 30 years. In 2005, 12.7 percent of state inmates and 12.4 percent of federal prisoners were being incarcerated for marijuana use, according to the Justice Department’s Bureau of Justice Statistics. Extrapolating out the costs, taxpayers – in 2005 – were ponying up $1 billion a year to keep people in jail whose only crime is smoking a “drug” that has less dangerous social implications than alcohol, which is legal, of course. But Gingrich wants even stiffer penalties for drug use – any drug. But to his credit, at least, he didn’t think prison was the answer. He favors providing medical help and drug treatment, but again, taxpayers would be on the hook for these programs too. And why does a casual marijuana user need a drug treatment program, when casual alcohol users aren’t required to attend AA meetings? The tide could be turning against Gingrich. Sixteen states and Washington, D.C., have legalized medical marijuana, even though the federal government still lists it as a Schedule I substance – the most medically useless and dangerous of drugs. Also, Gingrich says his opposition is rooted in concern for children regarding drug use, and the “signal” it would send in terms of government condoning it. For one, medical marijuana use does not increase usage among children , a recent report has found. And two, children watch adults drink alcohol but are well aware that legally , they can’t have a drink until they are 21 years old. Wouldn’t it be prudent to place a similar age restriction on smoking marijuana? The pot issue is more one of finding the right combination of laws and public policy, to handle both the perception issue and the usage issue. The fight is not about whether marijuana is too dangerous, especially when compared to alcohol, because when that comparison is made, alcohol loses hands down . Update: News channel 5 confirms door-to-door questioning of food supplies in Tennessee while canneries downplay initial reports

(NaturalNews) Citizens in Tennessee are being asked by government workers to divulge details about their preparedness plans in a door-to-door “assessment” program reported by Janet Kim from local news channel 5 (http://www.newschannel5.com/story/15948523/door-to-door-assessment-for-disaster-preparedness). During this assessment, government workers ask residents 22 questions about their preparedness status. NaturalNews has confirmed through reliable sources that these include questions about emergency food supplies. Fortunately, this effort is being done by a Tennessee group of state employees who are widely recognized throughout the preparedness community as being “good guys” who are truly just trying to help people get prepared. They are not interested in confiscation or anything of the kind, according to our sources. It’s a local community preparedness support effort. On another front, three days ago Oath Keepers reported that their chapter president in Tennessee was told by a local cannery federal agents were demanding customer lists (http://www.naturalnews.com/034371_food_storage_federal_agents_customer_list.html). This account quickly went viral across alternative news websites, and the news exploded across the ‘net. The Tennessee cannery that originally relayed that account to Oath Keepers has backed off their account and is now telling customers who call that federal agents never visited their cannery. Oath Keepers has posted an update confirming this (http://oathkeepers.org/oath/2011/12/09/1oath-keepers-alert-federal-agents-demand-customer-lists-from-mormon-food-storage-facility/). The change in this first-hand account has many people scratching their heads, as this story was confirmed face-to-face by none other than Oath Keepers Tennessee Chapter President Sgt. Rand Cardwell, a USMC veteran (Desert Storm) with a solid reputation. There is virtually no possibility that Sgt. Rand Cardwell invented this story, as he is widely known to be a trustworthy individual who honorably served his country as a U.S. Marine. A far more likely explanation may be found in the Patriot Act itself, which features a sneak-and-peek with a gag order provision that allows federal agents to conduct searches of any facility and then gag the witnesses from speaking about it for at least one year, after which they may challenge the gag order. The existence of this sneak-and-peek gag order is widely acknowledged and easily verified through common web searches. Even NPR reported on it several years ago: http://www.npr.org/news/specials/patriotact/patriotactprovisions.html Another possibility is that the original source at the Tennessee cannery may have been instructed to remain silent by higher ups either within their own organization or, theoretically, the Mormon Church with which the cannery is affiliated. This is only speculation, of course. We no longer have access to any further fact-checking because nobody from that cannery is talking. NaturalNews has long admired the preparedness philosophy of the Mormon Church and its members, most of which are far better prepared for an economic collapse than people of any other organized religion. Who is getting prepared? The smart folks The bottom line is that government officials are taking a curious interest all of a sudden in the preparedness status of the American people. Whether for innocent reasons or for nefarious purposes, this is a new focus of both state and federal government, and it indicates that somebody up the chain of command is very interested in knowing WHO is preparing and HOW they’re getting prepared. My advice to NaturalNews readers is to connect with a Mormon cannery in your area and help support their operations. Such canneries frequently offer food storage skills and advice, in addition to offering you quality stored goods at affordable prices. Most Mormon-run canneries graciously open their doors to people of any religious denomination, and for that they deserve tremendous credit. NaturalNews will continue to investigate this story and bring you any important developments. In the mean time, we encourage all our readers, in Tennessee and elsewhere, to get yourself prepared for what’s coming . Because there will very likely come a day when the federal government begins to look at stored food, cash, and ammunition as “signs of terrorism.” The government already flags people who “pay with cash” as being engaged in suspicious activity — just try to buy an airplane ticket with cash and see what happens if you don’t believe me. Similarly, those who buy quantities of firearms are already being flagged and tracked by the ATF. The federal government runs elaborate infiltration and spying schemes to ensnare raw milk farmers (http://www.naturalnews.com/033428_FDA_secret_war.html). For that same government to start asking questions about who has stored food isn’t even a stretch. It fits their pattern of spying on their own people even as the government tries to encroach upon more freedoms we all once took for granted. Stay prepared, folks. The economic tsunami is headed our way, and there’s a whole lotta paper currency that may end up being worth no more than the paper it’s printed on. For now, I think it’s safe to purchase stored food without drawing too much attention to yourself, but you’ll probably get a much better value if you buy it locally from regional canneries where you don’t have to pay the large shipping costs. Do I have 5-gallon buckets full of spelt and brown rice? You bet I do. And I got ‘em from a Mormon cannery in Idaho.

Every single tweet being turned over to U.S. government

(NaturalNews) They say there are billions of them, with more than 50 million added per day. But whatever the actual number, every single tweet ever sent since the beginning of Twitter-time is set to be turned over to Uncle Sam. According to Federal News Radio earlier this week, Twitter has struck a deal (deal?) with the Library of Congress to archive every single tweet. Rather than treat them as free, protected speech, the billions of Tweets are being treated as historical documents and will archived as such, the report said. “We have an agreement with Twitter where they have a bunch of servers with their historic archive of tweets, everything that was sent out and declared to be public,” Bill Lefurgy, the digital initiatives program manager at the library’s national digital information infrastructure and preservation program, said on Federal News Radio. “We were excited to be involved with acquiring the Twitter archives because it’s a unique record of our time,” he added. “It’s also a unique way of communication. It’s not so much that people are going to be interested in what you or I had for lunch, which some people like to say on Twitter.” Which begs the question: What, then, is the government “interested” in? According to the report, the tweets will be made available to researchers who “could then data-mine for interesting information.” “There have been studies involved with what are the moods of the public at various times of the day in reaction to certain kinds of news events,” said Lefurgy. “There’s all these interesting kinds of mixing and matching that can be done using the tweets as a big set of data.” The agreement, it turns out, has been in the works since last year. Reportedly, no Tweets that users have “protected” will be included in the data dump, but let’s ask the obvious question here: How many of us actually believe that private tweets aren’t somehow going to show up in this LOC tweet repository – for some researcher to “data-mine?” So, the lesson here is this: If you think your tweets are just going to vanish into the unknown after you send them, think again. And be careful what you tweet; some “researcher” may just “data-mine” it some day, to your dismay. In the electronic age, privacy is increasingly becoming a quaint concept of the past. North Korea may soon be able to strike USA with ultimate doomsday weapon that deactivates (nearly) all electronics

December 7, 2011 by

(NaturalNews) Obama administration officials have released new intelligence indicating North Korea is building mobile ICBMs that will soon be able to reach the United States. This was reported in the Washington Times, which states, “New intelligence indicates that North Korea is moving ahead with building its first road-mobile intercontinental ballistic missile, an easily hidden weapon capable of hitting the United States.” (http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/dec/5/north-korea-making-missile-able-to-hit-us/) ICBMs typically carry nuclear warheads, and they can easily target cities on the West Coast such as Los Angeles or Seattle. But even this threat doesn’t compare to the “doomsday weapon” that China or Russia could almost certainly launch right now: A high-altitude EMP weapon (HEMP for short, and I’m not joking). High-Altitude EMP could fry the USA back into the pre-industrial age HEMP weapons are detonated in the high atmosphere, theoretically as high as 300 miles above the ground (well above the orbits of most satellites, even). Once detonated, the energy released by these weapons interacts with the Earth’s magnetic field, producing an extremely fast and powerful electromagnetic burst that rushes to the ground at 94% the speed of light, slamming everything on the ground with as much as 50,000 volts per square meter at high amps. Not surprisingly, such a phenomenon would fry virtually every piece of electronics they touch , as today’s electronics are manufactured with delicate circuitry that simply cannot withstand such extreme voltage ranges. Instantly taken out of service would be many automobiles, televisions, cell phones, air conditioners, airplanes, radios, military electronics, and many satellites. Even more worryingly, such an attack would also take out the backup generators and control electronics for active nuclear power plants , which as we’ve already reported here on NaturalNews, could unleash a wave of nuclear meltdowns across the USA (http://www.naturalnews.com/033564_solar_flares_nuclear_power_plants.html). As Duncan Long writes on a survival website: “A major area of concern when it comes to EMP is nuclear reactors located in the US. Unfortunately, a little-known Federal dictum prohibits the NRC from requiring power plants to withstand the effects of a nuclear war. This means that, in the event of a nuclear war, many nuclear reactors’ control systems might will be damaged by an EMP surge. In such a case, the core-cooling controls might become inoperable and a core melt down and breaching of the containment vessel by radioactive materials into the surrounding area might well result.” (http://www.aussurvivalist.com/nuclear/empprotection.htm) Extensively studied by the government This is not science fiction. EMP blasts from nuclear weapons have been extensively studied from the very first nuclear tests in the 1940′s. Back then, the world didn’t have much in the way of electronics, so the early effects of EMP were barely noted. But throughout the 1960′s and 70′s, as more testing was done, it became apparent that the electromagnetic pulse effects of nuclear detonations could be devastating. Today, with civilization running on computers, electronics, GPS units and mobile phones, such a blast could literally fry a modern nation back into the pre-industrial age . Well, at least back to the 1800′s anyway, where the only tools you could really rely on were shovels, leather straps and shotguns. Firearms, you see, don’t have electronics, so they’ll be fully functional even after an EMP attack. Keep this in mind when you consider how to survive a post-EMP scenario. Interestingly, governments openly admit that EMP attacks would wipe out all the electronics that keep modern civilization working. The Washington state Department of Health, Office of Radiation Protection explains: When “detonated,” an EMP weapon produces a pulse of energy that creates a powerful electromagnetic field capable of short-circuiting a wide range of electronic equipment, particularly computers, satellites, radios, radar receivers and even civilian traffic lights. Since EMP is electromagnetic energy traveling at the speed of light, all of the vulnerable electronic equipment in the detonation zone could be affected simultaneously. Society has entered the information age and is dependent on electronic systems that work with components that are very susceptible to excessive electric currents and voltages. Many of these electronic systems are controlled in some way by semiconductors. Semiconductor devices fail when they encounter an EMP because of the local heating that occurs. Failure of semi-conductive chips could destroy industrial processes, railway networks, power and phone systems, and access to water supplies. Commercial computer equipment is particularly vulnerable to EMP effects. Computers used in data processing systems, communications systems, displays, industrial control applications, including road and rail signaling, and those embedded in military equipment, such as signal processors, electronic flight controls and digital engine control systems, are all potentially vulnerable to the EMP effect. Other electronic devices and electrical equipment may also be destroyed by the EMP effect. Telecommunications equipment can be highly vulnerable and receivers of all varieties are particularly sensitive to EMP. Therefore radar and electronic warfare equipment, satellite, microwave, UHF, VHF, HF and low band communications equipment and television equipment are all potentially vulnerable to the EMP effect. Cars with electronic ignition systems/ and ignition chips are also vulnerable. Source: http://www.doh.wa.gov/ehp/rp/factsheets/factsheets-htm/fs41elecpuls.htm A single high-altitude detonation could reboot human civilization in North America If you still think I’m making all this up, by the way, check out the entry on Wikipedia which explains all this in much more detail: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electromagnetic_pulse There, you’ll find a fascinating map which shows something rather horrifying: A single burst just 300 miles above the Earth would cover the entire United States (minus Hawaii and Alaska) while also nailing most of Canada and Mexico as well. See that graphic here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:EMP_areas.JPG This map was created based on testimony given by Gary Smith to the US House National Security Committee on July 16, 1997. That’s right: With one relatively small nuclear weapon detonated high above the Earth, an entire modern nation could be effectively destroyed. Why? Because without electronics, you get runaway starvation, riots, fires, and a complete breakdown of law and order. A near-instant collapse of modern cities Imagine Los Angeles, for example, if all the water pumps went out. Imagine Chicago if food deliveries stopped. Many of the rigs on the highway, you see, would be instantly shut down with an EMP burst. Every plane, train and automobile — except for those built pre-1980′s or so — might instantly become road kill. Imagine police trying to function without police radios. Fire and other emergency services are wholly dependent on electronics. Deliveries of food, water, medical supplies and consumer goods are all dependent on electronics. Oil refineries , nuclear power plants, coal-fired power plants and even renewable energy systems are all entirely driven by complex electronics. All these electronics would be instantly wiped out in a nanosecond. And no, “surge protectors” cannot protect anything. The EMP wave moves far too fast for surge protectors to trip their own relays. So all the surge protectors get blown out before you can even blink an eye, and then the remainder of the pulse fries all the electronics that were supposed to be protected. Only those electronics specifically shielded against EMP attacks will be protected (and only the military bothers with such expensive retrofits). As the next graphic shows (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:High_altitude_EMP.gif), such a weapon detonated even at just 100km above the surface of the planet would unleash anywhere from 10,000 to 50,000 volts per square meter . This chart doesn’t cite the amperage of the current, but military experiments have shown it is more than sufficient to fry all electronics that aren’t specifically shielded against EMP. If you happen to be underground at the moment the pulse hits (i.e. in a subway station), your cell phone may be spared, but the cell phone towers of course will all be kaput. Both Russia and China probably already have these weapons North Korea is undoubtedly working on developing such weapons as a way to bomb advanced nations back to the level of low technology found in North Korea itself. But the real worry here is that China and Russia probably already have such weapons and could launch them at any time. “The non-lethal nature of electromagnetic weapons makes their use far less politically damaging than that of conventional munitions, and therefore broadens the range of military options available,” explains the Department of Health website for Washington state (http://www.doh.wa.gov/ehp/rp/factsheets/factsheets-htm/fs41elecpuls.htm). “Several nations, with United States at the forefront, are reported to have developed non-nuclear bombs capable of generating EMPs.” This is a game-changer. In the “old” mode of thinking about nuclear war, bombs were unleashed on targeted cities, then calibrated to detonate just a mile or two above the city in order to maximize the intensity of the nuclear burst. But with the rise of electronics-driven societies, the real weakness becomes not the brick and mortar of buildings but the delicate electronic circuits that keep civilization humming. Take away the electronics, and an advanced nation is far worse off than if it were physically blasted by a high-yield weapon. After all, a physical city can be rebuilt as long as you have the electronics to coordinate rescue operations and shipments of materials to rebuild. But if you take away the electronics, the cities destroy themselves with riots, fires, starvation and disease. Why America is unable to stop such an attack No doubt the strategic thinkers at the Pentagon have already realized all this. They don’t talk about it much, and they certainly don’t make it public, because if the public really knew the seriousness of this threat, they might utterly freak out. You see, America has no capability whatsoever to stop some other nation from launching a nuclear device into high orbit (300 miles, say) and detonating it over North America. There is simply no military capability to halt such a missile or to block the EMP effects. Ronald Reagan’s “Star Wars” defense system never became a reality. The only real way to stop such an attack is to stop pissing off other nations , and of course America can’t even do that because it’s running around the world interfering in everyone’s business, running secret military ops in Iran right now (http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/world/la-fg-iran-bomb-20111205,0,7550482.story), overthrowing national governments with CIA-funded terrorist rebels (Libya, for example), unleashing economic hit men to enslave developing nations, and basically running around the global playground like a giant bully. This is not a way to win friends. If anything, the USA has been building resentment among other powerful nations such as China, which not only holds a shockingly high percentage of the U.S. national debt, but also has advanced rocketry technology and an ability to launch nuclear missiles into high orbit. Both Russia and China are fed up with the U.S. mucking around in the Middle East, and nearly everyone in the Middle East is fed up with U.S. support for Israel. What all this means is that America is making enemies, not friends , and some of those enemies no doubt have EMP technology already developed that could literally “bomb” America back into the pre-industrial era. Why the real threats have little to do with individual terrorists As you can tell if you’re getting all this, the real threats against America have almost nothing to do with lone terrorists trying to bomb a single airplane, for example. The TSA is a cruel joke. It will no more keep you safe than wishing for a magical unicorn to show up and whisk you away from danger. Even the events of 9/11 would pale in comparison to the total devastation unleashed by a high-altitude EMP device. Beyond a few skyscrapers being leveled, imagine entire cities being zapped into a state of instant electronic death . Such an act would transform cities into death zones from which few would escape alive. (Cities are not designed to sustain life without huge inputs from outside, including food, water, electricity, fuel, raw materials, and so on. Absent those inputs, they become concrete tombs…) See, most of the U.S. government is wasting its time running roadside checkpoints and trying to entrap gullible teens into acting like terrorists (http://www.naturalnews.com/034325_FBI_entrapment_terror_plots.html). What the government should be doing is figuring out how to stop acting like the bully of the world and start making economic trading partners instead of making enemies everywhere. Why international trade is crucial for halting war The only way to stop Russia or China, for example, from frying North America with a HEMP weapon is to make it more painful for them to lose the USA than keep it around . And that means engaging in two-way trade to create win-win economic ties that would lose a lot of money for some very rich people if bombs started going off. This strategy has worked for China-Taiwan relations, by the way, where China-Taiwan investments are now so commonplace that the two nations are strongly economically dependent on each other. The best “defense” against a military invasion, it turns out, is to have strong economic trading partners who need your nation to stick around so they have viable trading partners. It’s also effective to have your own HEMP weapons that you can unleash upon your neighbors, should they have any crazy thoughts about bombing you. “Mutually Assured Destruction,” believe it or not, is actually a very wise military tactic for self defense. People may bash the apparent insanity of the idea, but it is one of the things that has kept America relatively safe for generations. If we didn’t have nuclear weapons ready to be unleashed on other nations, do you really think we wouldn’t have already been bombed in the 1960′s during the Cuban Missile Crisis? I don’t have a lot of kind words for the military industrial complex, but at the end of the day, I must honestly acknowledge the fact that the U.S. military’s possession of nuclear weapons has effectively countered the nuclear arsenals of other nations. In the same way, the most polite place in the world you will ever visit is a small town where everybody carries a concealed weapon. You’ll hear a lot of “sir” and “ma’am” in polite conversation. People tend to avoid arguments for precisely the reason you might imagine: Because they’re all armed. “Mutually Assured Destruction” is a deterrent to violence at both the local level and the global level. It may sound insane, but on a practical level, it prevents violence and helps keep the peace. And that’s why the USA is no doubt also working on its own HEMP weapons. Even China is extremely vulnerable to the EMP destruction of electronics. It’s no longer a developing nation, you see. China left that in the dust decades ago. Today, China is a high-tech, electronically-organized nation in much the same way as the USA. Perhaps only Papua New Guinea would be completely immune to an EMP attack. Nearly all other nations (including North Korea) would be devastated by it. Solutions: What can YOU do about this right now? Okay, so if you’re convinced that the threat of EMP weapons looms over all advanced nations today, what exactly can you do about it? I’ll answer it in three words: Go low tech. In addition to your high-tech, electronically timed clothes dryer, have a clothesline outside so you can use the sun to dry your clothes. In addition to your high-tech Toyota Prius that’s packed with high-density electronics, have an old “beater” wagon from the 1970′s sitting around in case you need it. Heck, you don’t even need to keep paying the license taxes on it if you don’t drive it day to day. For every tool you have that’s electronic, have a hand-powered alternative standing by: Hand saws, hand drills and other hand-powered tools are easy to come by. Don’t rely entirely on electronics. Think about low-tech items that reliably work. Duct tape. Scissors. Shovels. Quality cutlery in the kitchen. And if you can, find yourself one of those antique treadle sewing machines powered by your foot! (I’ve been trying to find one of these for months and can’t dig one up…) How are you gonna write things down when the electronics are all melted? You’d be amazed how many people no longer have pencil and paper , especially among the younger generation which has entirely abandoned wristwatches, too. (Their mobile phones tell them the time, you see.) Have you ever tried to MAKE a pencil? You’d be amazed how difficult it is. It’s so much easier to just buy a bunch right now and have them stored away. They’re cheap, and for the moment, UPS trucks still operate just fine and they’ll bring these pencils right to your doorstep in a pretty brown box. Getting back to basics In a way, a world without electronics might actually be a far more “real” world than the one in which we live today. More peaceful… back to nature… a place where local community would mean something once again. But of course there would also be a huge price to pay for that transition in terms of lost lives in the cities where people are so disconnected from the real world that they are utterly unable to survive in it. Today’s teens are so addicted to texting devices that I’m pretty sure some of them would just flat-out drop dead within 24 hours if the cell towers stopped functioning. The good news in all this is that getting back to basics is a wise strategy no matter what threats we may be facing in the near future: Nuclear war, police state tyranny, EMP weapons, natural disasters, Earth changes, and so on. The more you can rely on your own two hands — and simple tools that leverage your efforts — the more likely you are to survive the next decade. It also goes without saying that if EMP weapons are unleashed upon the world, the internet will be destroyed , meaning you won’t be able to search Google to find answers like “How do I grow tomatoes?” You’ll need to either have the knowledge in your head or have the physical books on your shelf which is one of the reasons why I still buy lots of physical books. They don’t break, and they never have to be rebooted. If there’s one thing I’ve really learned in all these years of analyzing society, history and technology, it’s that technology is fragile , and so are civilizations. The society we take for granted today is far more fragile than you might imagine, and the whole thing could come tumbling down in a microsecond. It wouldn’t even take an act of war to make it happen: just one high-energy solar flare could accomplish much the same effect. If you want your children to survive and prosper in our world, teach ‘em the basics: How to grow gardens. How to care for animals. How to think for themselves, live off the land and resist buying into the bull being spewed by technocrats. When the electronic heartbeat of modern civilization comes to a screeching halt, all the circuit boards in the world won’t help you in any way whatsoever. You’ll have to save yourself. And you’d better have a little bit of gold, silver, ammo and garden tools packed away if you hope to have any real chance of making it through the transition. Learn the skills (and gather the goods) while you still can. If you want some real skills, here’s an online video course I recently filmed with Daniel Vitalis, called “Surthrival” : http://premium.naturalnews.tv/Surthrival_Vitalis_Adams__NN.htm Learn more about EMP weapons and protection methods at: http://www.futurescience.com/emp/emp-protection.html http://empcommission.org/ Read the Critical National Infrastructures Report at: http://empcommission.org/docs/A2473-EMP_Commission-7MB.pdf Editor’s note: There is a lot of information about EMPs on the internet, and much of it is flatly false. Beware of all sorts of myths that say things like EMP blasts will “fry your brain” (they won’t) or that you can put your electronic gear in a microwave oven and cut off the cord, making it function like a small Faraday cage. That doesn’t work, as you can clearly test yourself by tossing your cell phone into a microwave and then calling it from another phone. Some people say you can build your own home-made Faraday protection devices by placing cardboard boxes inside galvanized trash cans, but looking around the ‘net, there is a lot of conflicting information on whether this really works. Overall, there isn’t much reliable, proven information on the ‘net about how to actually protect valuable electronics from EMP attacks. One of the reasons for this is because virtually no one living today has personally experienced an EMP attack, so practically nothing has been tested against it.

GSK pays US government record $3 billion for illegally marketing drugs (but CEO and executives not held criminally responsible)

(NaturalNews) The pharmaceutical industry is notorious for getting away with murder, both figuratively and literally, without so much as a slap on the wrist from the justice system. And a recent settlement involving drug giant GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) only further exposes the fact that Big Pharma is free to break the law as long as it pays off Big Government, its partner in crime. The latest dog and pony show involves the US government addressing GSK’s illegal activity over the years in peddling its deadly chemical cocktails. After being exposed for illegally marketing drugs, paying off doctors to promote dangerous drugs, and manipulating scientific data to get dangerous drugs approved, GSK has essentially been pardoned by the US government in exchange for $3 billion. Sure, $3 billion might sound like a lot of money to most people. But GSK raked in roughly $43 billion in revenue just last year. So this settlement is a mere drop in the bucket for GSK, and it really does nothing to satisfy the demands of justice. It does, however, conveniently transfer $3 billion in payoff money to the federal government, which has allowed GSK to get away with its crimes for years. NaturalNews readers will recall the 2010 Senate Finance Committee report that exposed GSK for deliberately hiding evidence about the dangers of its diabetes drug Avandia. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) worked hand-in-hand with GSK to downplay Avandia’s dangers, effectively preserving billions of dollars in yearly revenue for GSK from the sale of the “blockbuster” drug (http://www.naturalnews.com/028233_GlaxoSmithKline_Avandia.html). There are literally tens of thousands of lawsuits currently pending against GSK over Avandia, not to mention countless known instances of the company’s blatant criminal activity in marketing it. But did the FDA ever decide to pull Avandia from the market to protect consumers? Of course not. And there is no indication that any of GSK’s executives will be held personally responsible for such crimes, either. “Who at Glaxo is going to jail as a part of this settlement?” asked Patrick Burns, spokesman for Taxpayers Against Fraud, an advocacy group for whistleblowers. “Who in management is being excluded from doing future business with the US government?” The New York man who recently pleaded guilty to selling illegal kidneys faces 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine (http://www.naturalnews.com/034060_organ_trafficking_transplants.html). But drug company executives involved in committing numerous crimes that have bilked taxpayers and insurance companies out of billions — and that have inadvertently injured and killed thousands of patients in the process — are let off free for a measly fraction of their company’s yearly revenues. Is the war on terror a complete hoax? Paul Craig Roberts reveals how social engineers infected America with mass paranoia

(NaturalNews) What if there weren’t any real terrorists threatening America and the whole thing was just made up to justify a military agenda? A rational person might say that if we’re all going to give up our rights, and our Fourth Amendment, and have U.S. troops in the streets running checkpoints, then logically there should at least be some evidence that America has been infiltrated with terrorists, right? Or, more specifically, evidence from a reliable source that has not already been caught lying about terrorism , which would exclude the federal government, of course. Look around you today: Do you see any terrorists? Any “towel heads” aiming guns at your family? Anybody walking around with a vest full of explosives? Nope. Have you ever seen the TSA catch a terrorist at the airport? Ever read a news report of the TSA catching a terrorist? Ever heard of an Air Marshall stopping a terrorist in-flight? Nope. Have you ever heard of the FBI halting a terrorist plot that they didn’t fabricate, plan and carry out themselves? (All the terror plots “stopped” by the FBI are, on the record, planned and carried out by the FBI itself.) (http://www.naturalnews.com/033751_FBI_terrorism.html) Seriously. Clear the cobwebs out of your head for a moment and think logically: Where are all these “terrorists” that we’re supposed to be afraid of and give up our rights for? Where are they? Now, of course, the government can and will, from time to time, stage some sort of terrorist event to remind everyone to be afraid. That’s a given. In classic Orwellian protocol, any war that grants a government unlimited power will be indefinitely sustained. This is why the “War on Terror” was declared against a tactic , not a nation or a person. That way, the so-called “war” can be carried out indefinitely. A war with no end. Perpetual tyranny. At first, if you remember, we were told we needed TSA agents at the airports because of Osama Bin Laden, remember? He was the “mastermind” who was going to cause airplanes to fall out of the sky. So what happened after he was killed and removed from the picture? The U.S. government announced the terror threat was now “even higher” because Bin Laden’s loyal supporters would now seek revenge! Do you see how, under this brand of sick logic, the war on terror will go on indefinitely? They can always claim someone else is dangerous… there’s always a new boogeyman when it serves the interests of the state. That’s why it’s now obvious that this war has been entirely fabricated to achieve specific political and social agendas. The war on terror is a hoax The best article yet written on this subject was penned by none other than Paul Craig Roberts, former Assistant Secretary of the US Treasury and former associate editor of the Wall Street Journal. As Roberts explains: (http://www.infowars.com/?p=62008) “The US government creates whatever new bogeymen and incidents are necessary to further the neoconservative agenda of world hegemony and higher profits for the armaments industry.” He goes on to provide details: “If we look around for the terror that the police state and a decade of war has allegedly protected us from, the terror is hard to find. Except for 9/11 itself, assuming we accept the government’s improbable conspiracy theory explanation, there have been no terror attacks on the US. Indeed, as RT pointed out on August 23, 2011, an investigative program at the University of California discovered that the domestic “terror plots” hyped in the media were plotted by FBI agents.” “As there apparently are no real terror plots for this huge workforce to uncover, the FBI justifies its budget, terror alerts, and invasive searches of American citizens by thinking up “terror plots” and finding some deranged individuals to ensnare. For example, the Washington DC Metro bombing plot, the New York city subway plot, the plot to blow up the Sears Tower in Chicago were all FBI brainchilds organized and managed by FBI agents.” Robert goes on to explain the real motivation behind the war on terror. It’s not to fight terrorism, as has been publicly claimed, but rather to scare Americans into a state of blind obedience to a police state government: “When I observe the gullibility of my fellow citizens at the absurd “terror plots” that the US government manufactures, it causes me to realize that fear is the most powerful weapon any government has for advancing an undeclared agenda. Apparently, Americans, or most of them, are so ruled by fear that they suffer no remorse from “their” government’s murder and dislocation of millions of innocent people. In the American mind, one billion “towel-heads” have been reduced to terrorists who deserve to be exterminated.” And commenting on the TSA’s total thuggishness and criminality, Roberts writes: “One of America’s finest moments is the case, documented on YouTube, of a dying woman in a wheelchair, who requires special food, having her food thrown away by the Gestapo TSA despite the written approval from the Transportation Safety Administration, her daughter arrested for protesting, and the dying woman in the wheelchair left alone in the airport.” A nation of gullible, paranoia-stricken slaves What’s really amazing in all this is how easily the American people are sucked into believing all the imaginary fairytale terrorists. These stilted beliefs are driving national decisions about security, defense spending, Presidential elections and even the Bill of Rights. What America needs to do right now is wake from its dreamy slumber and realize The Emperor Has No Clothes! The war on terror is a fabrication. The whole “if you see something, say something” campaign is a hypnosis script for mass paranoia . The airport security checkpoints are not designed to make flying safer but to make the American people more terrified. Every element of the so-called “war on terror” is a complete fabrication, just as the original war on Iraq was a total fabrication with its WMDs and fabricated yellowcake uranium claims which turned out to be utter falsehoods. Of course, if the American people actually got close to waking up and realizing the whole war on terror was a complete fabrication, you can rest assured an event would be staged to instill fear in the minds of the people once again. All the FBI would have to do, for example, is allow one of their many engineered terror plots to continue all the way. The FBI, as you probably know, already provides the terror plots, the weapons, the money, the grenades, ammunition, and anything else necessary for its chosen terror suspects to carry out these acts of violence. It then takes credit for halting these attacks, pretending to be protecting us from the very plots it engineered in the first place (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CyAXrJ7LT1M) (http://rt.com/usa/news/fbi-usa-terrorism-portland/). It obviously wouldn’t take much for the FBI to simply allow a mass shooting in a mall or a sports stadium, for example — even as such acts were carried out with hardware supplied by the FBI itself! Here, crazy kid, take some antidepressant drugs, an AR-15 and some FBI ammunition, and go shoot up the local mall, they might say. And there are crazy enough youngsters in America who would carry it out, sadly. Such an act would immediately be heralded by the corrupt mainstream media as yet more evidence that we’re “losing” the war on terror and therefore we need police checkpoints at every street corner; we need military personnel strip-searching everyone in U.S. cities; and we need to eliminate cash from society so that we can track everybody’s purchases via electronic instruments. Heck, we need to just end the entire Bill of Rights! Who needs “rights” when all these police are everywhere to protect us, right? So you can expect such acts of violence to be engineered and unleashed upon America in the very near future by the very institutions that claim to be protecting us from terror. In reality, they are the real terrorists in the classic sense of the word. “Terrorism” means, by definition, the use of fear tactics to achieve a political or social goal. There is no better example that fits the definition perfectly than the Department of Homeland Security itself, which is far more interested in figuring out how to INFECT people with fear rather than to PROTECT them from real terrorism. America’s government owes the Arab-American community a huge apology What is especially insidious in all this is how these government elements who fabricate all these terror plots specifically work to entrap Arab Americans and others who “look” like terrorists because they are of Middle Eastern descent. Through these actions, the U.S. government has unleashed a generation of hatred against Arab-Americans, Iranian-Americans and other groups of completely innocent people who are now subjected to social shunning, ridicule and suspicion by the rest of American society. People of Middle Eastern descent are looked at in America today with the kind of condescending disdain that blacks once suffered under just a few generations ago (and in some areas, even today). Some of the demeaning vocabulary has even been grafted onto the new victims, who are viciously called “sand niggers” as if that somehow justifies marginalizing their very existence. On this historical point, by the way, at least when African Americans were held as slaves, they knew they were enslaved! But all the delusional white people running around America today dialing 911 because they saw some guy using CASH — OMG! — still don’t realize that they are far more enslaved than the plantation workers ever were. All these CNN-watching, clock-punching, government-worshipping morons are slaving away 60 hours a week to feed their money into a system that has already plotted to destroy them (and steal their wealth, too). They are the “mindlessly enslaved masses” of our modern world, and they have no clue they are enslaved at all. Government is guilty of hate crimes Getting back to the condemnation of Arab-Americans and others of Middle Eastern descent, that the government has specifically targeted these people to be entrapped in terror plot crimes is one of the most outrageous examples of a hate crime against an entire society. It is shameful beyond belief that a government which wants to make it illegal for citizens to engage in “hate crimes” against other citizens has effectively unleashed the greatest hate crime in history by demonizing huge swaths of American citizens whose parents happened to be Persian, or Kuwaiti, or Iraqi, or Saudi. You know who is carrying out the real terror in America today? It’s not the “towel heads” to borrow a vulgar a highly inappropriate phrase from those who push this agenda. No, it’s the beer-bellied, white-faced, ego-driven, child-molesting TSA agents who terrorize tens of thousands of innocent air passengers every single day by stripping them down in those secret little rooms behind the security checkpoint naked body scanners — which are themselves another form of electronic strip searches that violate fundamental human rights. And all the people out there who acquiesce to the tyranny, the in-your-pants searches by the TSA, the restrictions of free speech protests, and the coming “secret detainment” provisions just passed by the U.S. Senate (http://www.naturalnews.com/034291_SB_1867_war_on_terror.html), you are all fools and suckers who have been brainwashed into a state of irrational paranoia . Those who foolishly believe the fabricated war on terror are the ultimate pessimists You who have bought into all this fabricated terror nonsense are the worst “doom-and-gloomers” of our time, living your lives in a constant state of fear and despair, fretting about invisible imaginary terrorists who you think are going to magically leap out of your luggage and blow up an airplane. You’ve been indoctrinated by the “if you see something, say something” paranoia, and you’ve been hoodwinked by a bunch of social engineers who know how to manipulate fear to achieve their desired political (and military) agendas. It’s pathetic. And it’s the oldest trick in the government book, of course: Use the fear of terror to manipulate the public into supporting a police state agenda which concentrates power in the hands of the executive branch, which quickly becomes a military dictatorship. Read your history, folks, or you will stupidly repeat it. It might also be worth your time to read George Orwell’s 1984 novel, as it’s very nearly a blueprint for the Department of Homeland Security’s “perpetual war” fraud.

Fast food nutrition facts – mystery ingredients are industrial chemicals

(NaturalNews) Many people think occasional junk food indulgence can be balanced out by skipping meals later in the week or by putting in some extra time on the treadmill. The truth is that the consequences of this type of eating can turn up in unexpected ways, often years later as toxins accumulate in your body and cause serious illnesses like cancer or diabetes. It is only in the past several decades that the abundance of toxic chemical ingredients in food, have made the consequences of dietary indulgences so lethal. In order to boost profits, food purveyors use chemicals which have a similar effect to the tobacco industry’s addition of nicotine to tobacco, making a substance at once more addictive and more deadly. Mystery Ingredient #1 Take this quiz to help you to see how much you know about the real results of fast food snacking: What was concocted in a laboratory in 1908 and is present in nearly every non-dessert item on KFC’s menu? What “seasoning” did the US begin manufacturing subsequent to WWII after learning that rations for soldiers on the opposing side included this substance? When the FDA “generally regarded as safe” (GRAS) standard for food additives was established in 1958, what substance was grandfathered in without any testing to verify its safety? What food additive, so omnipresent in fast food restaurants that even salads often contain it, has been linked to obesity as well as depression, migraines, mental confusion, dizziness, anxiety or panic attacks, stiffness, joint pain, loss of balance, slurred speech, diarrhea, blurred vision and ADHD? What chemical substance do food manufacturers love to use so much that they have developed a long list of aliases to hide its presence from consumers? If you answered MSG to all of the above questions, give yourself a gold star for knowledge of food chemicals. Mystery Ingredient #2 What popular sweetener, present in most soft drinks and “sports drinks,” is manufactured via a process which makes use of glutaraldehyde, an embalming chemical? What sweet-tasting ingredient, found in such diverse products as McDonald’s Baked Hot Apple Pies, children’s vitamins and commercially prepared salad dressings is frequently contaminated with mercury because of the method by which is it prepared in factories? What food additive delivers calories yet chemically fails to satisfy hunger, causing people to eat more than necessary? Because this substance does not stimulate insulin secretion or reduce the hunger hormone ghrelin, people continue to eat while the body converts what they consume into fat. If you know the answer to the above 3 questions is high fructose corn syrup (HCFS), you are well-informed. This is a challenging accomplishment considering how much disinformation the food manufacturers, the government and the mainstream health establishment put out about HCFS being harmless. Beware, however, because the food industry has been mulling a name change for this ingredient, possibly calling it “corn sugar” or some new brand name so they can continue to take advantage of subsidized US corn. Mystery Ingredient #3 Which of the following fast foods does NOT contain dimethylpolysiloxane, an anti-foaming agent also used in caulks and sealants and Silly Putty: a) McDonald’s Chicken McNuggets b) McDonald’s Fish Filet Patty c) Wendy’s Natural Cut Fries d) KFC BBQ Baked Beans e) KFC Biscuit f) None of the above The correct answer is “f” none of the above. (Chances are if your child swallowed some caulk, you would rush to the emergency room. Perhaps people should start doing the same if their children consume fast food.)
