Group sues cosmetic companies for falsely labeling products organic

(NaturalNews) Kiss My Face, Hain-Celestial, and 24 other consumer and cosmetic product companies are the subject of a new lawsuit filed by the Center for Environmental Health (CEH), a California-based group that works to protect the public from toxic chemicals, and promote products and practices that improve public health and the environment. The companies are all accused of improperly labeling various products as “organic” that do not contain at least 70 percent organic ingredients, as is required by California law. The California Organic Products Act of 2003 requires that any product labeled “organic” contain at least 70 percent organic ingredients. But Michael Green, Executive Director of CEH, says that after purchasing a variety of products made by the companies in question, his group determined that many of them were in clear violation of the law. “For years, organic advocates have called on personal care companies to fix their improper ‘organic’ labels, but our recent purchasing shows the industry is still rife with unsubstantiated organic claims,” said Green. “We want to encourage companies to use organic ingredients, and insure that consumers can trust organic labels to be meaningful and consistent.” Currently, there are no federal laws or established standards governing how organic personal care and cosmetic products are to be labeled. FDA sued to halt antibiotics in animal feed

(NaturalNews) Since the 1950′s livestock have had antibiotics added into their feed to speed up their growth and to prevent and treat illness. However, recently several environmental and public health groups have filed suit against the Food and Drug Administration to try and force the government to stop farmers from routinely adding the antibiotics to the feed. The groups say that the wide spread use of the drugs and the FDA’s allowance of it are dramatically adding to a public health crisis. The crisis being an increase in the prevalence of “superbugs” that infect people but do not properly respond to antibiotics. Margaret Mellon, a senior scientist at the Union of Concerned Scientists, one of the groups who filed the complaint in federal court, along with the Natural Resources Defense Council, the Center for Science in the Public Interest, Food Animals Concern Trust and Public Citizen stated, “the longer we use these drugs, the less effective the arsenal becomes.” Debate has been ongoing for the past 30 years about the use of antibiotics in animal feed. Amid rising concerns the FDA began to question whether they should be used so broadly and on healthy animals. “Anti-modern livestock production groups are trying to compel the FDA to ban antibiotics used to prevent animals from getting sick because those groups have a belief – not scientific evidence – that such FDA-approved animal health products are causing antibiotic resistance in people.” Said Doug Wolf, president of the National Pork Producers Council, and a pork producer from Lancaster, WI. As farming has become more industrialized, farmers have become more reliant on antibiotics because they help animals digest more effectively and stay healthy in crowded conditions. Last year the FDA gave voluntary guidance to farmers, calling the resistant-bacteria problem a “public health issue of some urgency.” Mellon went on to say that the FDA is “trying to jawbone the industry into voluntarily giving up these drugs. I don’t know how they would get the industry to act that way, because it’s against their interests.” Rep. Louise M. Slaughter (D-NY), the only microbiologist in congress has filed legislation that would ban the use of seven antibiotic classes unless animals are ill or drug companies can prove their use does not harm human health. “We should be able to buy our food without worrying that eating it will expose our families to bacteria no longer responsive to medical treatments.” She stated. National Cancer Institute and American Cancer Society skewered in new book by leading cancer expert

(NaturalNews) A new book by leading cancer expert, Dr. Samuel S. Epstein, skewers the National Cancer Institute and American Cancer Society and blames the organizations for America losing the war against cancer. In the book, “National Cancer Institute and American Cancer Society: Criminal Indifference to Cancer Prevention and Conflicts of Interest,” Epstein argues that the NCI and ACS have spent tens of billions of taxpayer and charity dollars focusing on treatment to the exclusion of prevention, which has allowed cancer rates to skyrocket, with the disease now affecting nearly one in two men and more than one in three women. Furthermore, the author claims that not only do numerous conflicts of interest exist within the NCI and ACS, but the NCI and ACS are also withholding a mass of information on avoidable causes of cancer. Epstein, who has served as a consultant for the U.S. Senate Committee on Public Works, is an internationally recognized authority on avoidable causes of cancer, particularly carcinogen exposure through conduits such as food, air, water, household products, cosmetics, prescription drugs or industrial carcinogens in the workplace. Epstein is professor emeritus of Environmental and Occupational Medicine at the University of Illinois School of Public Health and chairman of the Cancer Prevention Coalition. He has published more than 270-peer reviewed articles and 20 books, including the prize-winning 1978 The Politics of Cancer , and has appeared on national media, including NPR, 60 Minutes, Face the Nation, Meet the Press, The McNeil/Lehrer News Hour, Good Morning America and The Today Show. He was a key expert in the banning of hazardous products including DDT, chlordane and aldrin. In his new book, he is now the leading critic of the cancer establishment for its indifference to prevention of the disease, which, for the ACS, he claims, borders on hostility. Cancer funding skyrockets along with cancer rates, followed by exaggerated claims of progress The cancer industry has made a series of misleading claims about the advances in the war against cancer over the past three decades, wrote Epstein. Some of the false claims, according to Epstein, include the industry’s 1984 announcement by the NCI that cancer mortality would be halved by 2000, the 1998 NCI and ACS Report Card announcement of a reversal in the almost twenty-year trend of increasing cancer incidence and death, and the 2003 pledge by NCI Director and former ACS president-elect Andrew von Eschenbach to “eliminate suffering and death from cancer by 2015.” The NCI, ACS and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also claimed that “considerable progress has been made in reducing the [number of people with cancer] in the U.S. population” in its 2003 “Annual Report to the Nation on the Status of Cancer, 1975-2000.” The claim, however, is not consistent with NCI’s own data, Epstein said, which shows the overall number of people with cancer and incidence rates actually increased by 18 percent. The data also shows a dramatic increase in nonsmoking-related cancers, according to Epstein, including a 104 percent increase in liver cancer, an 88 percent increase in prostate cancer, a 54 percent increase in thyroid and testicular cancer, a 29 percent increase in breast cancer and a 14 percent increase in brain cancer. Epstein also notes the overall cancer mortality rates have remained unchanged and have increase by 6 percent for blacks. It seems that the more we spend on cancer, the more cancer we get, Epstein said, because while the number of people with cancer goes up, so does the NCI budget paid for by tax payers and charity. The NCI budget has increased 25-fold, from $220 million to $4.6 billion, between 1971 and 2000. Prevention is the key The fixation on “damage control” instead of prevention is the root cause of the booming cancer rates in the face of billions of dollars aimed at elimination of the disease, according to Epstein. He claims the NCI priorities are all wrong. The opening statement of the NCI’s 2001 Cancer Facts report says that “cancer prevention is a major component and current priority — to reduce suffering and death from cancer.” Meanwhile the report claimed that only 12 percent of the NCI’s then $3.75 billion budget was allocated to prevention. Epstein shows that the actual attention to prevention is probably even less, by citing an analysis of a 1992 NCI budget showing that less than 2.5 percent of its then $2 billion budget was spent on prevention. Epstein further crucifies NCI stating that prevention tactics defined by NCI only covered the value of avoiding smoking and a bad diet, while wholly ignoring the myriad of environmental and occupational carcinogens. NCI and ACS withholding a mass of cancer prevention information The NCI has failed to inform the public of published scientific information on a wide range of avoidable causes of multiple cancers, Epstein said. According to Epstein, there are three major categories of avoidable causes including: 1. Environmental contaminants in air, water, soil, the workplace, and food; 2. Carcinogenic ingredients in consumer products, particularly pesticides; 3. Carcinogenic prescription drugs and high-dose diagnostic radiation, particularly pediatric CAT scans. Epstein wrote, “NCI’s silence on cancer prevention is in flagrant violation of the 1971 National Cancer Act’s specific charge to disseminate cancer information to the public. This silence is in further violation of the 1988 Amendments to the National Cancer Program, which called for an expanded and intensified research program for the prevention of cancer caused by occupational or environmental exposure to carcinogens.” Epstein blamed this NCI failure to inform Congress and regulatory agencies of avoidable carcinogens for encouraging petrochemical and other industries to continue manufacturing products containing carcinogens and encouraging corporate polluters to continue polluting. NCI’s aversion to publicizing avoidable carcinogens has even gone as far as suppression and denial, Epstein said, quoting the following examples: “In 1983, the Department of Health and Human Services directed NCI to investigate the risks of thyroid cancer from I-131 radioactive fallout following atom bomb tests in Nevada in the late 1950s and early 1960s.” “NCI released its report in 1997, based on data which had been available for over fourteen years, predicting up to 210,000 thyroid cancers from radioactive fallout. These cancers, whose incidence has almost doubled since 1973, could have been readily prevented had the NCI warned the public in time and advised them to take thyroid medication.” “At a September 1999 hearing by the Senate Subcommittee of the Committee on Government Affairs, former Senator John Glenn (D-OH) charged that the NCI investigation was plagued by lack of public participation and openness. Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) charged that NCI’s conduct was a travesty.” [Just] as serious is NCI’s frank suppression of information. At a 1996 San Francisco Town Hall Meeting on breast cancer, chaired by Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), former NCI director Richard Klausner insisted that “low level diagnostic radiation does not demonstrate an increased risk.” However, this was contrary to long-term studies on patients with spinal curvature (scoliosis), which showed that such radiation was responsible for 70% excess breast cancer mortality. ACS has just as abysmal a track record on prevention as NCI, according to Epstein, and it has been and remains the target of periodic attacks by leading scientists and public interest groups. One attack in a 1994 press release by the Center for Science in the Public Interest stated, “A group of 24 scientists charged that the ACS was doing little to protect the public from cancer-causing chemicals in the environment and workplace. The scientists urged ACS to revamp its policies and to emphasize prevention in its lobbying and educational campaigns.” The scientists criticized ACS for requiring human evidence of carcinogenic effects before implementing regulation, saying that they had an unrealistically high action threshold. The scientists included: Harvard University Nobel Laureates Matthew Meselson and George Wald; former Occupational Safety and Health Director Eula Bingham; and past president of the Public Health Association, Anthony Robbins. One major instance of ACS ignoring the science, according to Epstein, was in 1993 when they came out in support of the pesticide industry just before the airing of the PBS Frontline special, “In Our Children’s Food.” ACS released a memorandum in which it trivialized pesticides as a cause of childhood cancers, and reassured the public that pesticide residues were safe, even for infants. Possibly most shocking is the failure of the NCI and ACS to inform the public of the increasing incidence of childhood cancers, which has escalated to alarming rates, according to Epstein. The Cancer Prevention Coalition’s 2003 report said that childhood cancers have increased by 32 percent between 1975 and 2000 and that cancer is one of the leading causes of death in children, second only to accidents. Even more shocking, the NCI claims that “the causes of childhood cancer are largely unknown.” This is diametrically opposed to substantial scientific evidence, according to Epstein, which shows that children are exposed to numerous avoidable carcinogens, including everything from X-rays, prescription drugs, pesticides and contaminants in beauty products to petrochemical and industrial pollutants, radioactive pollutants in the air and drinking water, and pollutants from hazardous waste sites. In 2000, the industry publication Cancer Letter had a commentary on ACS’ behind-the-scenes creation of a legislative committee to gain major control of national cancer policy, according to Epstein. In the commentary, former executive president of the American Society of Clinical Oncologists Dr. John Durant shared his assessment of ACS behavior. “It has always seemed to me that was an issue of control by the ACS over the cancer agenda,” Durant said. “They are protecting their own fundraising capacity [from competition by survivor groups.]” Conflicts of Interest But emphasis on treatment looks likely to remain if, as Epstein shows, the ACS and NCI are in bed with those who profit from a treatment focus. Approximately half of the members of the ACS board are doctors and scientists with close ties to the NCI, Epstein said. Many of the board members and their colleagues obtain funding from both the ACS and NCI, he said. Frank conflicts of interest are evident in many ACS priorities, according to Epstein, including the two major examples of mammography and cancer drugs. “The ACS has close connections to the mammography industry,” Epstein writes. “Five radiologists have served as ACS presidents, and in its every move, the ACS reflects the interests of the major manufacturers of mammogram machines and films … In fact, if every woman followed the ACS and NCI mammography guidelines, the annual revenue to health care facilities would be a staggering $5 billion. ACS promotion continues to lure women of all ages into mammography centers, leading them to believe that mammography is their best hope against breast cancer. A leading Massachusetts newspaper featured a photograph of two women in their twenties in an ACS advertisement that promised early detection results in a cure “nearly 100 percent of the time.” An ACS communications director responded …. “The ad isn’t based on a study. When you make an advertisement, you just say what you can to get women in the door. You exaggerate a point. Mammography today is a lucrative [and] highly competitive business.” “The ACS exposes premenopausal women to radiation hazards from mammography with little or no evidence of benefits,” Epstein said. “The ACS also fails to tell them that their breasts will change so much over time that the ‘baseline’ images have little or no future relevance.” The cancer drug industry is even more lucrative than mammography with annual sales over $12 billion. The intimate association between ACS and the pharmaceutical industry is illustrated, Epstein said, by the unbridled aggression which ACS directs at its critics. “ACS maintains a Committee on Unproven Methods of Cancer Management, which periodically reviews unorthodox or alternative therapies,” Epstein wrote. “This committee is comprised of volunteer health care professionals, carefully selected proponents of orthodox, expensive, and usually toxic drugs patented by major pharmaceutical companies, and opponents of alternative or unproven therapies that are generally cheap, and minimally toxic.” Periodically, the committee updates its statements on unproven methods, which are then widely disseminated to clinicians, cheerleader science writers, and the public. Once a clinician or oncologist becomes associated with unproven methods, he or she is blackmailed by the cancer establishment. Funding for the accused quack becomes inaccessible, followed by systematic harassment. “The highly biased ACS witch-hunts against alternative practitioners are in striking contrast to its extravagant and uncritical endorsement of conventional toxic chemotherapy. This despite the absence of any objective evidence of improved survival rates or reduced mortality following chemotherapy for all but some relatively rare cancers.” The cancer industry’s favor of pharmaceutical products is evidenced, Epstein said, “by the fact that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved approximately 40 patented drugs for cancer treatment, while it has yet to approve a single nonpatented alternative drug.” According to Epstein, “Dr. Samuel Broder, NCI director from 1989 to 1995, frankly admitted, in a 1998 Washington Post interview, that ‘the NCI has become what amounts to a government pharmaceutical company.’ Taxpayers have funded R and D and expensive clinical trials for over two-thirds of cancer drugs on the market. These drugs are given, with exclusive rights, to the industry, which sells them at inflated prices.” Epstein calls for change NCI reform is two decades overdue, Epstein wrote, based in part on “The Stop Cancer Before it Starts Campaign: How to win the Losing War against Cancer,” which is a 2003 report sponsored by eight leading cancer prevention experts and endorsed by over one hundred activists and citizen groups. Numerous NCI reforms were proposed in 1992 at a Cancer Prevention Coalition press conference, a group of 68 leading cancer prevention and public health experts, past directors of federal agencies, and citizen activists across the nation. But prophetically, the press release concluded, “There is no likelihood that such reforms will be implemented without legislative action.” And the ACS has done no better, according to Epstein. “The verdict is unassailable,” Epstein said. “The ACS bears a major decades-long responsibility for losing the winnable war against cancer. Reforming the ACS is, in principle, relatively easy and directly achievable. Boycott the ACS. Instead, give your charitable contributions to public interest and environmental groups involved in cancer prevention. Such a boycott is well overdue and will send the only message this charity can no longer ignore.”

CDC admits flu vaccines don’t work (which is why you need a new one every year)

On one hand, as their sales associate calmly explains to you, whatever product you’re buying is such high quality that you’ll be extremely satisfied with your purchase. But on the other hand, it’s also such a complete piece of junk that you’d be smart to add on a two-year extended warranty so that when the gizmo breaks five seconds after you open the box, you can get a replacement for free. The CDC and the vaccine industry are fronting a similar bit of contradictory logic. “Our vaccines work so well that they offer almost total immunity from the flu,” they claim. And yet somehow they also work so poorly that they “wear off” after a year and require you to be re-vaccinated annually. This is The Great Big Lie of the vaccine industry: The lie that says you have be re-vaccinated each and every year, often with the exact same strains you were vaccinated with the previous year. The coming winter flu vaccines for 2011, for example, are being manufactured with the same strains as the 2010 flu vaccines. But if vaccines work so amazingly well as the CDC and the vaccine industry (fraudulently) suggests, then why do you need the same shot year after year? Well, according to the CDC, “Vaccines wear off.” Vaccines wear off, they say Yep, that’s their cover story. The vaccines “wear off.” But hold on a minute. There’s something fishy about this. Because human antibodies normally last a lifetime , remember? That’s why you don’t get the chicken pox over and over again; because the first time you got the chicken pox as a kid, your body created chicken pox antibodies and those antibodies last a lifetime. Thus, your immune system offers you lifetime immunity from the chicken pox. The vaccine industry false tries to claim its vaccines work exactly the same way: They cause the body to produce antibodies against a certain viral strain. Independent Oil and Gas Industry of New York crafted the law, said Christopher Denton, an attorney representing dozens of landowners in cases regarding the law. “This is IOGA’s statute,” Denton said. “They drafted it, introduced it, got a sponsor for it and pushed it through with no legislative hearings whatsoever.” Compulsory integration can only be used if the gas company signs leases on properties totaling at least 60 percent of the proposed land total, which is usually a required minimum of 640 acres. The gullible mind explained

(NaturalNews) In light of the string of the blatant falsehoods being announced by the U.S. government these days (FDA, DHS, White House, etc.) it’s interesting that so many people still believe whatever they are told by “official” sources. It brings up the question of the functioning of their brains : How could a person swallow official information so gullibly and so completely without even asking commonsense questions about the reliability or factual basis of that information? These people, it turns out, are operating from what I called The Gullible Mind . It is a psychological processing malfunction that filters out information based on its source rather than its integrity. People who operate from The Gullible Mind tend to have misplaced trust in governments, institutions, mainstream news networks, doctors, scientists or anyone who wears the garb of apparent authority. Whereas a normal, intelligent person would raise commonsense questions about information they receive from all sources, the Gullible Mind wholly accepts virtually any information from sources that occupy the role of apparent authority in society. Governments never lie But how does this work inside their heads? It’s an interesting process. Gullible Mind people do believe it is possible for a government (or institution) to lie; but they believe that governments, institutions and doctors choose NOT to lie even when it would serve their own self interests to do so . Follow this carefully, because this is the fascinating part. These Gullible Mind people effectively believe that even though a government official could lie about something, they would never actually do so. And why wouldn’t they? Because, ultimately, the Gullible Mind crowd believes that governments, institutions and mainstream media outlets operate from a sort of honor code . So even if it were in the interests of our own government to lie to us, it would never happen because that would violate this imaginary honor code. Where does this honor code exist? Where is it written down? Nowhere, of course. It is imaginary. But to The Gullible Mind, it seems real. Interestingly, even though this “honor code” only exists in the imagination of The Gullible Mind person, they project this honor code onto sources of authority, imagining that they abide by it. Extreme gullibility This is how The Gullible Mind person believes that network news always reports the truth. The news networks have a sense of “honor,” they believe, and this sense of honor requires them to always report the truth and never manipulate the news for any nefarious purposes. So news networks never “shape” the news and they only report what is factually true without any consideration whatsoever of politics or advertiser profits. This view of the world is, of course, laughably naive. And yet it is the core belief system of at least half the population — the Gullible Mind half that believes everything it is told by its own government, media or authority figures. Interestingly, the Gullible Mind is also inwardly gullible because it does not recognize its own gullibility. Instead, it believes it is operating as a Rational Mind. This false Rational Mind believes it functions as a critical filter of incoming information, but even this is self deception. In truth, this false Rational Mind is on “auto filter” so that it filters out any information that conflicts with the information it is receiving from official sources. This is the key to understanding the Gullible Mind — it isn’t the quality of the information itself that matters; it is the confirmation of the story from official sources that “makes it real” in the Gullible Mind. The Easter Bunny killed Bin Laden! For example, let’s say a Gullible Mind person comes across an announcement that says the Easter Bunny has killed Osama Bin Laden. The report claims that colored eggs were found near Bin Laden’s body, and there was evidence of feathers being left at the scene, which proves the Easter Bunny was there. Now, an intelligent, rational mind would have a lot of questions about this. For starters, rabbits don’t have feathers. And the Easter Bunny is a piece of fiction, too. On top of that, how could the Easter Bunny kill Osama Bin Laden? An intelligent person would, upon reviewing the holes in the story, be forced to conclude the story is fiction . The only logical conclusion from that is that the government is lying to them. A Gullible Mind person, however, would not ask whether rabbits have feathers, or whether the Easter Bunny is capable of conducting a military raid. Instead, the Gullible Mind person would first look to other confirming news sources in order to determine the reliability of the story. They would turn on the TV or surf the internet, looking for the news to be repeated through “official” sources. Once they found CNN, or Fox News, or some other “official” source reporting that the Easter Bunny killed Osama Bin Laden, then that news report would instantly become “real” in their minds. Suddenly it has shifted from their mental processing queue to the “absolutely truth” part of their brain, and from that point forward, no one can question that reality in their heads. Don’t bother arguing with a Gullible Mind – they are immune to facts At this point, their rational mind is completely shut off on the topic. No accumulation of facts can, at that point, rattle their “reality.” For example, a person who believes the government’s story of 9/11 has already embraced the Easter Bunny version of terrorists flying airplanes into the World Trade Center towers. So how did this act cause the WTC 7 building to collapse in a demolition-style free-fall a few hours later, when WTC 7 was never struck by airplanes? How can a steel and concrete building suddenly and magically collapse in perfect structural synchronicity merely from being on fire? The answers don’t matter to The Gullible Mind, you see. There is no room for facts inside their heads, because all the space has been taken up with what is essentially a cult-like belief in institutions of authority. We saw this in the Heaven’s Gate cult in California a few years back. The leader of that cult, a man named Applegate, positioned himself as the one and only source of authoritative information among the cult followers. So HE became the authoritative source whose information was wholly accepted without questioning or skepticism of any kind. At that point, he was able to quite easily convince his followers that an alien race was going to land a UFO on the far side of a comet, and that if they killed themselves, they would be transported onto the alien ship (or something like that). The belief in such a story may seem silly… until you realize that the governments of the world use the exact same cult-like tactics to get their own “followers” to believe everything they say, without question. So if President Obama announced that an alien race was going to land a mother ship on the White House lawn, and that people who voted for him would have their consciousness transferred to an immortal alien body, the remarkable truth is that millions of people would believe that . Perhaps tens of millions. They would even worship him as an interstellar saint. Remember Orson Welles’ radio program that announced aliens had invaded the Earth and were destroying our cities? To those people, the alien invasion was just as real back then as Bin Laden’s official death is to government followers today. Throughout history, many conspiracy theories have turned out to be true Government lying, of course, has been going on for as long as governments have existed. Not all conspiracies theories are true, of course, but so many of them turn out to be true that the idea of “not believing” in conspiracies makes no rational sense. To not believe in conspiracies means you don’t believe two people have ever sat down and plotted to take advantage of others in some unethical and deceptive way. Well gee, that describes virtually every board meeting of every large corporation in the world! Conspiracies are not just commonplace; they’re practically synonymous with modern-day capitalism! The Tuskegee Syphilis experiments on African Americans was a secret medical conspiracy. Operation Northwoods was a conspiracy plot to create support for a war on Castro by staging terrorism events in U.S. cities. These are all historical facts. They are indisputable. But to The Gullible Mind, none of this history exists. What’s real is only what they are being told right now by the White House. When George Bush occupied the White House, the daily fibs were things like, “The Iraqis want us to occupy their land with military personnel because we are setting them free!” Oh yeah, that’s a bit of twisted logic, for sure. But it’s no different from Obama’s version of the war fairytales, which includes such gems as, “We’re only dropping humanitarian bombs on Libya.” Or, “It’s not actually war. It’s only kinetic military action.” But you see, it makes no difference whether anything they say is actually true… at least not to The Gullible Mind, which believes there is no such thing as a conspiracy theory. There is no such thing as a nefarious government, either. Heck, when Columbus landed in the New World, his entire crew shared food and wine with the Native American Indians, we’re told. There was no raping, no murder, no genocide. That’s why we continue to celebrate Columbus Day every year! Because the Gullible Mind wants a reason to get off work for a day, even if it requires a complete revision of actual historical facts. The most popular issues of Gullible Mind people Vaccines are good for you – Vaccines are “safe and effective” merely because doctors and the CDC say they are, not because of any reliable scientific evidence. The economy is in great shape – Gullible Mind people are easily influenced to stop thinking about the $14 trillion national debt that’s growing by the day and simply go along with whatever economic fictions are being woven in Washington. Governments and corporations are looking out for your best interests – The drug companies only want to find cures and make everybody healthy. The government is here to help. We should all stop asking questions and just do what we’re told. Nothing will ever run out – There’s no such thing as Peak Oil. Our world can continue its throwaway economy without end, they believe. We’ll never run out of gas, water, soil or natural resources. Keep using stuff up and throwing it all away! Food additives are good for you – Otherwise, the FDA wouldn’t have approved them, would they? There’s no such thing as a cure for cancer – The ultimate pessimists, the Gullible Mind crowd believes cancer has never been cured! And if a cancer cure did exist, we would know about it by now, right? (Because our scientists already know everything that’s worth knowing, you see…) There are no other non-terrestrial civilizations or beings in our universe – Amazingly, we are the only intelligent forms of life that have ever existed, they believe. Any talk of non-Earth intelligence is just a bunch of “fringe” nonsense. There was never any life on Mars, either. Herbs and plants have no medicinal value – That’s right, only conventional medicine can “treat” you, because that’s what the doctors say. Herbs and plants have zero biological value beyond their calories alone, they insist. … and on it goes, one delusion after another. A Gullible Mind, it seems, will believe almost anything if it comes from a “trusted” source. But that same Gullible Mind will discount straight-up facts if they don’t come from those same trusted sources. How to stop being a Gullible Mind Interestingly, most of the people who are intelligent, skeptical thinkers today used to be Gullible Mind people at one time or another. There was a point where they simply “awakened” and began to consciously question the world around them. Intelligent, informed skeptics are the people asking questions like: • Why do twenty different mainstream news sources all report the exact same news , using the exact same words, on the exact same day? If Washington can just magically create a trillion dollars overnight, why do we pay taxes, then? • Why does the USDA now actively conspire with GMO seed companies to keep approving genetically modified seeds even without any scientific evidence of their long-term safety? • If mercury is one of the most toxic substances known to modern science, why is it still being deliberately placed into the mouths of children in the form of “silver” fillings? And why are they called “silver” when they actually contain more mercury than silver? • Where does the fluoride used to fluoridate the public water supplies really come from? What’s the real story on aspartame and the FDA? Why did the FDA oppress stevia for so many decades? • Why is the medical police state now using guns to force parents to medicate their children? In what kind of medical system is it necessary to use the threat of violence to force compliance? • Why did Clinton bomb the Sudan in the middle of the Monica Lewinsky crisis? Why did Obama suddenly announce the death of Bin Laden in the middle of his “birther” crisis? • Why do we still have the DEA’s “War on Drugs,” especially since there is ample evidence that the war is a total failure that only increases the prison population while actually enriching the drug gangs with higher street prices? • Why is the TSA still reaching down our pants at the airports if Bin Laden is now dead? Wasn’t he the whole reason we created the TSA and hired on those 60,000 security agents in the first place? But a Gullible Mind, attacks the questioner for even daring to ask such questions. Who are some of the awakened people? That’s why the Gullible Mind is more than merely gullible: It is a cowardly mind . It is afraid to ask questions on its own, and it simultaneously attacks those who have the courage to stand up and actually ask those questions (like Jesse Ventura). Most members of the conventional press are, of course, cowardly minds . They almost universally buy the corporate spin (or the White House spin) and never ask any tough questions anymore. Some of the REAL heroes — the people who are asking intelligent questions about our world — include: Alex Jones Jeff Rense Charlotte Gerson Jonathan Landsman David Icke Jesse Ventura Gerald Celente Ron Paul Robert Scott Bell Dr. Andrew Wakefield Suzanne Somers Dr. James Forsythe George Noorey Do you see a pattern here? Each one of these individuals has been marginalized or viciously attacked and slandered simply because they chose to ask intelligent questions about the world around them. Now, I don’t agree with every single thing said by each one of these people, but I admire each of them for having the courage to ask the questions that need to be asked if we are to move forward as a society (and civilization). These kind of people represent the complete opposite of The Gullible Mind. They are, instead, the “true skeptics” of the world. The reason they are viciously attacked is because our world is so steeped in deceit and conspiracy that only Gullible Minds are tolerated . Those who question the status quo are not merely annoying to the powers that be, but actually dangerous because the most dangerous activity in which you can engage today is helping others awaken to what’s really happening around them . It is that “awakening” that is so utterly despised by the web of corporations, governments and media lackeys that they will do everything in their power to prevent any sort of awakening from taking place at all. The functioning of the Matrix, after all, depends on people believing in the illusion. And it is so much easier to govern, of course, if people just believe whatever you tell them. Gullible Minds make great voters and willing slaves. But lousy company.
