North Korea may soon be able to strike USA with ultimate doomsday weapon that deactivates (nearly) all electronics

(NaturalNews) Obama administration officials have released new intelligence indicating North Korea is building mobile ICBMs that will soon be able to reach the United States. This was reported in the Washington Times, which states, “New intelligence indicates that North Korea is moving ahead with building its first road-mobile intercontinental ballistic missile, an easily hidden weapon capable of hitting the United States.” (http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/dec/5/north-korea-making-missile-able-to-hit-us/) ICBMs typically carry nuclear warheads, and they can easily target cities on the West Coast such as Los Angeles or Seattle. But even this threat doesn’t compare to the “doomsday weapon” that China or Russia could almost certainly launch right now: A high-altitude EMP weapon (HEMP for short, and I’m not joking). High-Altitude EMP could fry the USA back into the pre-industrial age HEMP weapons are detonated in the high atmosphere, theoretically as high as 300 miles above the ground (well above the orbits of most satellites, even). Once detonated, the energy released by these weapons interacts with the Earth’s magnetic field, producing an extremely fast and powerful electromagnetic burst that rushes to the ground at 94% the speed of light, slamming everything on the ground with as much as 50,000 volts per square meter at high amps. Not surprisingly, such a phenomenon would fry virtually every piece of electronics they touch , as today’s electronics are manufactured with delicate circuitry that simply cannot withstand such extreme voltage ranges. Instantly taken out of service would be many automobiles, televisions, cell phones, air conditioners, airplanes, radios, military electronics, and many satellites. Even more worryingly, such an attack would also take out the backup generators and control electronics for active nuclear power plants , which as we’ve already reported here on NaturalNews, could unleash a wave of nuclear meltdowns across the USA (http://www.naturalnews.com/033564_solar_flares_nuclear_power_plants.html). As Duncan Long writes on a survival website: “A major area of concern when it comes to EMP is nuclear reactors located in the US. Unfortunately, a little-known Federal dictum prohibits the NRC from requiring power plants to withstand the effects of a nuclear war. This means that, in the event of a nuclear war, many nuclear reactors’ control systems might will be damaged by an EMP surge. In such a case, the core-cooling controls might become inoperable and a core melt down and breaching of the containment vessel by radioactive materials into the surrounding area might well result.” (http://www.aussurvivalist.com/nuclear/empprotection.htm) Extensively studied by the government This is not science fiction. EMP blasts from nuclear weapons have been extensively studied from the very first nuclear tests in the 1940′s. Back then, the world didn’t have much in the way of electronics, so the early effects of EMP were barely noted. But throughout the 1960′s and 70′s, as more testing was done, it became apparent that the electromagnetic pulse effects of nuclear detonations could be devastating. Today, with civilization running on computers, electronics, GPS units and mobile phones, such a blast could literally fry a modern nation back into the pre-industrial age . Well, at least back to the 1800′s anyway, where the only tools you could really rely on were shovels, leather straps and shotguns. Firearms, you see, don’t have electronics, so they’ll be fully functional even after an EMP attack. Keep this in mind when you consider how to survive a post-EMP scenario. Interestingly, governments openly admit that EMP attacks would wipe out all the electronics that keep modern civilization working. The Washington state Department of Health, Office of Radiation Protection explains: When “detonated,” an EMP weapon produces a pulse of energy that creates a powerful electromagnetic field capable of short-circuiting a wide range of electronic equipment, particularly computers, satellites, radios, radar receivers and even civilian traffic lights. Since EMP is electromagnetic energy traveling at the speed of light, all of the vulnerable electronic equipment in the detonation zone could be affected simultaneously. Society has entered the information age and is dependent on electronic systems that work with components that are very susceptible to excessive electric currents and voltages. Many of these electronic systems are controlled in some way by semiconductors. Semiconductor devices fail when they encounter an EMP because of the local heating that occurs. Failure of semi-conductive chips could destroy industrial processes, railway networks, power and phone systems, and access to water supplies. Commercial computer equipment is particularly vulnerable to EMP effects. Computers used in data processing systems, communications systems, displays, industrial control applications, including road and rail signaling, and those embedded in military equipment, such as signal processors, electronic flight controls and digital engine control systems, are all potentially vulnerable to the EMP effect. Other electronic devices and electrical equipment may also be destroyed by the EMP effect. Telecommunications equipment can be highly vulnerable and receivers of all varieties are particularly sensitive to EMP. Therefore radar and electronic warfare equipment, satellite, microwave, UHF, VHF, HF and low band communications equipment and television equipment are all potentially vulnerable to the EMP effect. Cars with electronic ignition systems/ and ignition chips are also vulnerable. Source: http://www.doh.wa.gov/ehp/rp/factsheets/factsheets-htm/fs41elecpuls.htm A single high-altitude detonation could reboot human civilization in North America If you still think I’m making all this up, by the way, check out the entry on Wikipedia which explains all this in much more detail: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electromagnetic_pulse There, you’ll find a fascinating map which shows something rather horrifying: A single burst just 300 miles above the Earth would cover the entire United States (minus Hawaii and Alaska) while also nailing most of Canada and Mexico as well. See that graphic here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:EMP_areas.JPG This map was created based on testimony given by Gary Smith to the US House National Security Committee on July 16, 1997. That’s right: With one relatively small nuclear weapon detonated high above the Earth, an entire modern nation could be effectively destroyed. Why? Because without electronics, you get runaway starvation, riots, fires, and a complete breakdown of law and order. A near-instant collapse of modern cities Imagine Los Angeles, for example, if all the water pumps went out. Imagine Chicago if food deliveries stopped. Many of the rigs on the highway, you see, would be instantly shut down with an EMP burst. Every plane, train and automobile — except for those built pre-1980′s or so — might instantly become road kill. Imagine police trying to function without police radios. Fire and other emergency services are wholly dependent on electronics. Deliveries of food, water, medical supplies and consumer goods are all dependent on electronics. Oil refineries , nuclear power plants, coal-fired power plants and even renewable energy systems are all entirely driven by complex electronics. All these electronics would be instantly wiped out in a nanosecond. And no, “surge protectors” cannot protect anything. The EMP wave moves far too fast for surge protectors to trip their own relays. So all the surge protectors get blown out before you can even blink an eye, and then the remainder of the pulse fries all the electronics that were supposed to be protected. Only those electronics specifically shielded against EMP attacks will be protected (and only the military bothers with such expensive retrofits). As the next graphic shows (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:High_altitude_EMP.gif), such a weapon detonated even at just 100km above the surface of the planet would unleash anywhere from 10,000 to 50,000 volts per square meter . This chart doesn’t cite the amperage of the current, but military experiments have shown it is more than sufficient to fry all electronics that aren’t specifically shielded against EMP. If you happen to be underground at the moment the pulse hits (i.e. in a subway station), your cell phone may be spared, but the cell phone towers of course will all be kaput. Both Russia and China probably already have these weapons North Korea is undoubtedly working on developing such weapons as a way to bomb advanced nations back to the level of low technology found in North Korea itself. But the real worry here is that China and Russia probably already have such weapons and could launch them at any time. “The non-lethal nature of electromagnetic weapons makes their use far less politically damaging than that of conventional munitions, and therefore broadens the range of military options available,” explains the Department of Health website for Washington state (http://www.doh.wa.gov/ehp/rp/factsheets/factsheets-htm/fs41elecpuls.htm). “Several nations, with United States at the forefront, are reported to have developed non-nuclear bombs capable of generating EMPs.” This is a game-changer. In the “old” mode of thinking about nuclear war, bombs were unleashed on targeted cities, then calibrated to detonate just a mile or two above the city in order to maximize the intensity of the nuclear burst. But with the rise of electronics-driven societies, the real weakness becomes not the brick and mortar of buildings but the delicate electronic circuits that keep civilization humming. Take away the electronics, and an advanced nation is far worse off than if it were physically blasted by a high-yield weapon. After all, a physical city can be rebuilt as long as you have the electronics to coordinate rescue operations and shipments of materials to rebuild. But if you take away the electronics, the cities destroy themselves with riots, fires, starvation and disease. Why America is unable to stop such an attack No doubt the strategic thinkers at the Pentagon have already realized all this. They don’t talk about it much, and they certainly don’t make it public, because if the public really knew the seriousness of this threat, they might utterly freak out. You see, America has no capability whatsoever to stop some other nation from launching a nuclear device into high orbit (300 miles, say) and detonating it over North America. There is simply no military capability to halt such a missile or to block the EMP effects. Ronald Reagan’s “Star Wars” defense system never became a reality. The only real way to stop such an attack is to stop pissing off other nations , and of course America can’t even do that because it’s running around the world interfering in everyone’s business, running secret military ops in Iran right now (http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/world/la-fg-iran-bomb-20111205,0,7550482.story), overthrowing national governments with CIA-funded terrorist rebels (Libya, for example), unleashing economic hit men to enslave developing nations, and basically running around the global playground like a giant bully. This is not a way to win friends. If anything, the USA has been building resentment among other powerful nations such as China, which not only holds a shockingly high percentage of the U.S. national debt, but also has advanced rocketry technology and an ability to launch nuclear missiles into high orbit. Both Russia and China are fed up with the U.S. mucking around in the Middle East, and nearly everyone in the Middle East is fed up with U.S. support for Israel. What all this means is that America is making enemies, not friends , and some of those enemies no doubt have EMP technology already developed that could literally “bomb” America back into the pre-industrial era. Why the real threats have little to do with individual terrorists As you can tell if you’re getting all this, the real threats against America have almost nothing to do with lone terrorists trying to bomb a single airplane, for example. The TSA is a cruel joke. It will no more keep you safe than wishing for a magical unicorn to show up and whisk you away from danger. Even the events of 9/11 would pale in comparison to the total devastation unleashed by a high-altitude EMP device. Beyond a few skyscrapers being leveled, imagine entire cities being zapped into a state of instant electronic death . Such an act would transform cities into death zones from which few would escape alive. (Cities are not designed to sustain life without huge inputs from outside, including food, water, electricity, fuel, raw materials, and so on. Absent those inputs, they become concrete tombs…) See, most of the U.S. government is wasting its time running roadside checkpoints and trying to entrap gullible teens into acting like terrorists (http://www.naturalnews.com/034325_FBI_entrapment_terror_plots.html). What the government should be doing is figuring out how to stop acting like the bully of the world and start making economic trading partners instead of making enemies everywhere. Why international trade is crucial for halting war The only way to stop Russia or China, for example, from frying North America with a HEMP weapon is to make it more painful for them to lose the USA than keep it around . And that means engaging in two-way trade to create win-win economic ties that would lose a lot of money for some very rich people if bombs started going off. This strategy has worked for China-Taiwan relations, by the way, where China-Taiwan investments are now so commonplace that the two nations are strongly economically dependent on each other. The best “defense” against a military invasion, it turns out, is to have strong economic trading partners who need your nation to stick around so they have viable trading partners. It’s also effective to have your own HEMP weapons that you can unleash upon your neighbors, should they have any crazy thoughts about bombing you. “Mutually Assured Destruction,” believe it or not, is actually a very wise military tactic for self defense. People may bash the apparent insanity of the idea, but it is one of the things that has kept America relatively safe for generations. If we didn’t have nuclear weapons ready to be unleashed on other nations, do you really think we wouldn’t have already been bombed in the 1960′s during the Cuban Missile Crisis? I don’t have a lot of kind words for the military industrial complex, but at the end of the day, I must honestly acknowledge the fact that the U.S. military’s possession of nuclear weapons has effectively countered the nuclear arsenals of other nations. In the same way, the most polite place in the world you will ever visit is a small town where everybody carries a concealed weapon. You’ll hear a lot of “sir” and “ma’am” in polite conversation. People tend to avoid arguments for precisely the reason you might imagine: Because they’re all armed. “Mutually Assured Destruction” is a deterrent to violence at both the local level and the global level. It may sound insane, but on a practical level, it prevents violence and helps keep the peace. And that’s why the USA is no doubt also working on its own HEMP weapons. Even China is extremely vulnerable to the EMP destruction of electronics. It’s no longer a developing nation, you see. China left that in the dust decades ago. Today, China is a high-tech, electronically-organized nation in much the same way as the USA. Perhaps only Papua New Guinea would be completely immune to an EMP attack. Nearly all other nations (including North Korea) would be devastated by it. Solutions: What can YOU do about this right now? Okay, so if you’re convinced that the threat of EMP weapons looms over all advanced nations today, what exactly can you do about it? I’ll answer it in three words: Go low tech. In addition to your high-tech, electronically timed clothes dryer, have a clothesline outside so you can use the sun to dry your clothes. In addition to your high-tech Toyota Prius that’s packed with high-density electronics, have an old “beater” wagon from the 1970′s sitting around in case you need it. Heck, you don’t even need to keep paying the license taxes on it if you don’t drive it day to day. For every tool you have that’s electronic, have a hand-powered alternative standing by: Hand saws, hand drills and other hand-powered tools are easy to come by. Don’t rely entirely on electronics. Think about low-tech items that reliably work. Duct tape. Scissors. Shovels. Quality cutlery in the kitchen. And if you can, find yourself one of those antique treadle sewing machines powered by your foot! (I’ve been trying to find one of these for months and can’t dig one up…) How are you gonna write things down when the electronics are all melted? You’d be amazed how many people no longer have pencil and paper , especially among the younger generation which has entirely abandoned wristwatches, too. (Their mobile phones tell them the time, you see.) Have you ever tried to MAKE a pencil? You’d be amazed how difficult it is. It’s so much easier to just buy a bunch right now and have them stored away. They’re cheap, and for the moment, UPS trucks still operate just fine and they’ll bring these pencils right to your doorstep in a pretty brown box. Getting back to basics In a way, a world without electronics might actually be a far more “real” world than the one in which we live today. More peaceful… back to nature… a place where local community would mean something once again. But of course there would also be a huge price to pay for that transition in terms of lost lives in the cities where people are so disconnected from the real world that they are utterly unable to survive in it. Today’s teens are so addicted to texting devices that I’m pretty sure some of them would just flat-out drop dead within 24 hours if the cell towers stopped functioning. The good news in all this is that getting back to basics is a wise strategy no matter what threats we may be facing in the near future: Nuclear war, police state tyranny, EMP weapons, natural disasters, Earth changes, and so on. The more you can rely on your own two hands — and simple tools that leverage your efforts — the more likely you are to survive the next decade. It also goes without saying that if EMP weapons are unleashed upon the world, the internet will be destroyed , meaning you won’t be able to search Google to find answers like “How do I grow tomatoes?” You’ll need to either have the knowledge in your head or have the physical books on your shelf which is one of the reasons why I still buy lots of physical books. They don’t break, and they never have to be rebooted. If there’s one thing I’ve really learned in all these years of analyzing society, history and technology, it’s that technology is fragile , and so are civilizations. The society we take for granted today is far more fragile than you might imagine, and the whole thing could come tumbling down in a microsecond. It wouldn’t even take an act of war to make it happen: just one high-energy solar flare could accomplish much the same effect. If you want your children to survive and prosper in our world, teach ‘em the basics: How to grow gardens. How to care for animals. How to think for themselves, live off the land and resist buying into the bull being spewed by technocrats. When the electronic heartbeat of modern civilization comes to a screeching halt, all the circuit boards in the world won’t help you in any way whatsoever. You’ll have to save yourself. And you’d better have a little bit of gold, silver, ammo and garden tools packed away if you hope to have any real chance of making it through the transition. Learn the skills (and gather the goods) while you still can. If you want some real skills, here’s an online video course I recently filmed with Daniel Vitalis, called “Surthrival” : http://premium.naturalnews.tv/Surthrival_Vitalis_Adams__NN.htm Learn more about EMP weapons and protection methods at: http://www.futurescience.com/emp/emp-protection.html http://empcommission.org/ Read the Critical National Infrastructures Report at: http://empcommission.org/docs/A2473-EMP_Commission-7MB.pdf Editor’s note: There is a lot of information about EMPs on the internet, and much of it is flatly false. Beware of all sorts of myths that say things like EMP blasts will “fry your brain” (they won’t) or that you can put your electronic gear in a microwave oven and cut off the cord, making it function like a small Faraday cage. That doesn’t work, as you can clearly test yourself by tossing your cell phone into a microwave and then calling it from another phone. Some people say you can build your own home-made Faraday protection devices by placing cardboard boxes inside galvanized trash cans, but looking around the ‘net, there is a lot of conflicting information on whether this really works. Overall, there isn’t much reliable, proven information on the ‘net about how to actually protect valuable electronics from EMP attacks. One of the reasons for this is because virtually no one living today has personally experienced an EMP attack, so practically nothing has been tested against it.
The true history of Dole, banana plantations, chemical pesticides and human suffering

(NaturalNews) One Hundred Years of Solitude, a novel by Gabrielle Garcia Marquez, is a historical account of the fictional town Macondo. A town loosely set around his Mr. Marquez’s hometown in Aracataca, Columbia. A tale that is a social commentary of sorts on the effect of the American banana industry and the environmental, social, and physical havoc that followed it its wake. Dole’s Early Years Castle and Cook to Standard Fruit to Dole, the name changes but Dole’s dirty game stays the same because dirty is the way Dole likes to play. American naturalist Dan Koeppel relates an often forgotten story surrounding some of Dole’s initial business dealings in the Honduras. In 1903 the town hall in La Ceiba burned down taking with it marriage, birth, and land records. (http://www.dn.se/kultur-noje/essa/det-sekellanga-kriget-om-bananerna) The destruction of the land records left the officials with no official determination of who owned what land. Joseph Vaccato and his company Standard Fruit capitalized on this event in two ways- they no longer had to pay plot owners for using their land to grow bananas and the Dole plantations surrounding the village got most of the land in the reshuffle. Fast forward to 2011 where Dole is now the largest fresh fruit company with revenues over 7 billion dollars. Dole and DBCP In June 1989, Mother Jones went down to Costa Rica to get a first hand account from workers in the small villages of Rio Frio and Valle de la Estrella regarding the effect of the toxin DBCP on their lives. DBCP, formally known as dibromochloroproprane, is often referred to by its street name Nemagon. This nematicde was the all the rage with fruit companies because it was extremely effective at killing a microscopic worm that feeds on banana plant roots without damaging the plants. The problem is that Nemagon is directly tied to sterility in men, miscarriages, stillbirths, birth defects, various types of cancer, depression, impotence and the list goes on. The workers interviewed explained that direct exposure resulted from workers carrying the chemical in containers on their backs as they treated the banana plants. One worker reported that the chemical felt at first hot and stingy, then quickly went to cool and icy and that “it smelled awful and made us sleepy”. Workers also commented on the environmental effects, ” All the frogs and toads were gone in the valley after we used Nemagon… the fish would die in the rivers”. (http://books.google.com/books?id=NucDAAAAMBAJ&pg=PA20&lpg=PA20&dq=dark%20history%20of%20dole%20banana&source=bl&ots=h9OpHIZdlP&sig=h0vS5IgGNlaZ_FbOuOy3WcYWH8o&hl=en&ei=3W_mTfWTGpGjtgeloPHCCg&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CBsQ6AEwADgU#v=onepage&q&f=false) Both the manufactures of Nemagon and the U.S. government have been aware of its sterility and carcinogenic effects since the 1950′s. Yet it wasn’t until 1977 when workers at an Occidental plant noticed that they all were sterile, that the true effects of Nemagon became painfully clear. In the midst of the news storm that followed the discovery- Dow and Shell closed down production of DBCP. Also, the EPA began the process of deregulating the toxin: making it illegal to use within the United States. Main competitors Chiquita and Del Monte stopped using the chemical in 1977, but not Dole. Instead Dole took the position of favoring its profits over the health and well being of its workers. When Dow tried to back out of shipping Dole DBCP, Dole threatened to sue them for breach of contract. (http://books.google.com/books?id=DY4r1GsMq1wC&pg=PT192&dq=dole%20banana&hl=en&ei=WHPmTbvAJM-UtwfX9vXuCg&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=1&sqi=2&ved=0CC4Q6AEwAA#v=onepage&q=dole%20banana&f=false) Mother Jones reporters Constance Mattheissen and David Weir spoke with Jack Dement, who was at the time of the Nemagon scandal, in charge of overseeing what chemicals were to be used on Dole plantations abroad. In an internal memo, dated August 6, 1977, Dement made the decision to continue to use DBCP until it was banned in the company’s areas of operation. EPA findings be damned – Dole publicly used the chemical in various countries around the world until mid- 1978. However, Mother Jones reported that another internal report existed that contained evidence that Dole was using Nemagon in its foreign banana plantations as late as November 1980. Again, in 1988 45 Dole workers were poisoned by a DBCP substitute named Temik a highly toxic known disrupter of the human immune system. In 2002 the Human Rights watch uncovered abuses by Dole in Ecuador, a country that supplies Dole with one-third of all of their bananas. The report contained evidence that children as young as 8 were working 12-hour days, using sharp and dangerous equipment, frequently exposed to pesticides, and subject to sexual harassment. Granted similar abuses existed on other fruit company plantations, however seventy percent of the children interviewed worked on a plantation that supplied Dole. (http://www.globalexchange.org/campaigns/bananas/hrw042502.html) In 2010 Dole was included on the scrooge list of the International Labor Rights Forum as a company notorious for suppressing workers right to organize. The company has been accused of making payment to a paramilitary group in Columbia known as the AUC. Statements given by AUC commanders attest to receiving this payment from Dole and other multi-national corporations. A lawsuit (that was subsequently dismissed) alleged that Dole was the mastermind being the murder of 51 men, in a bid to takeover their land. (http://www.laborrights.org/sites/default/files/publications-and-resources/WorkingForScrooge2010.pdf) Dole and DBCP Litigation Early litigation cases against Dole were relatively successful- in 1992 over 1000 Costa Rican workers won a damage awared of of 20 million. In 1993 another class action suit against Dole, Chiquita, Del Monte, Dow, Shell and Occidental resulted in a 41.5 settlement for workers from Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and the Philippines. Yet other cases have fallen short, Dole alleges fraud, and somehow verdicts are lessened and judgments are overturned. In a now infamous case, Attorney Juan Dominguez filed suit in 2008 against both Dow and Dole. In a classic Dole move the company sought to have the case dismissed on the grounds of fraud by Juan Dominguez and some of the Plaintiffs. In 2009, relying on testimony from John Doe witnesses (Dole successfully won a motion for them to remain anonymous due to concern for their safety), Judge Victoria Cheney dismissed the case. Another victory for Dole, but maybe just temporarily, in January 2010, the plaintiff’s new attorney made a motion challenging the dismissal. It seems as if some of those “Jane Doe” witnesses have come forward and publicly stated that their testimony was procured by Dole via bribery. http://www.elnuevodiario.com.ni/nacionales/74115 Earlier this year the Tellez case received another small victory – Juan Dominguez, the attorney whom Dole accused of participating in the fraud, was cleared of any wrongdoing by the State Bar of California Dole Goes BANANAS! Swedish filmmaker Frederick Gertten filmed a documentary about the Tellez case and when a trailer was shown after the film’s entry into the 2009 LA Film Festival competition, Dole flipped their wig. Dole didn’t even wait until it’d seen the movie to begin its campaign of harassment. Dole deployed their hired gun- law firm Gibson, Dunn, and Crutcher – and sent numerous cease and desist letters to individuals involved directly and indirectly with the film. Dole even went as far as to petition Judge Cheney and the Swedish Embassy to step in and block the film. (http://www.bananasthemovie.com/wp-content/uploads/resources/letter_from_dole_may8_09.pdf ) (http://www.bananasthemovie.com/wp-content/uploads/resources/letter_dole-hafstrom_june5_09.pdf) Soon after the films limited release Dole filed a SLAPP suit, then they got slapped…. in the face with a furious backlash from the Swedish community that climbed as high as the Swedish Parliament. Soon a bi-partisan petition was circulating in Parliament that called upon Dole to dismiss its suit, which it eventually did. The anti-SLAPP filed by Gertten and his crew was granted and Dole was ordered to pay their attorneys fees. Dole’s reaction to the film was telling, this is a company that doesn’t want their machinations revealed to the American public. Those bananas on your kitchen counter come at a pretty steep price – the destruction of workers lives and their environment- the only question left to be answered is whether or not this system is one in which you want to be an active participant. 1. http://books.google.com/books?id=NucDAAAAMBAJ&pg=PA20&lpg=PA20&dq=dark%20history%20of%20dole%20banana&source=bl&ots=h9OpHIZdlP&sig=h0vS5IgGNlaZ_FbOuOy3WcYWH8o&hl=en&ei=3W_mTfWTGpGjtgeloPHCCg&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CBsQ6AEwADgU#v=onepage&q&f=false 2. http://www.bananasthemovie.com/juan-dominguez-cleared-of-any-wrongdoing-by-state-bar 3. 3. http://www.vipirg.ca/publications/pubs/student_papers/02_ecofootprint_bananas.pdf 4. http://www.bananasthemovie.com/wp-content/uploads/resources/letter_from_dole_may14_09.pdf 5. http://www.lakartidningen.se/07engine.php?articleId=12678 6. http://www.dn.se/kultur-noje/essa/det-sekellanga-kriget-om-bananerna 7. http://www.bananasthemovie.com/bananas-under-fire-timeline 8. http://www.bananasthemovie.com/dole-to-withdraw-defamation-suit 9. http://www.dailyfinance.com/financials/dole-food-company-inc-common-stock/dole/nys/income-statement

US meat and poultry widely contaminated with bacteria including superbugs
April 16, 2011 by Health Blogger
(NaturalNews) How would you like a big, juicy burger loaded with onions, mustard, ketchup — and a big helping of drug-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus), a bacteria linked to a wide range of human diseases? If you find that dish stomach-churning instead of appetizing, then maybe you should think twice before eating not only meat but chicken and turkey, too, at least in the U.S. According to a nationwide study just released by the Flagstaff, Arizona-based Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen), meat and poultry from U.S. grocery stores have an unexpectedly high rate of dangerous disease-causing bacteria, including antibiotic resistant superbugs. In fact, almost half (47 percent) of all meat and poultry samples tests were contaminated with S. aureus. What’s more, 52 percent of these contaminated meats contained superbugs, meaning the bacteria were resistant to multiple classes of antibiotics. That adds up to multi-antibiotic resistant Staph germs being present in about one out of every 4 samples of meat, chicken or turkey. “For the first time, we know how much of our meat and poultry is contaminated with antibiotic-resistant Staph, and it is substantial,” Lance B. Price, Ph.D., senior author of the study and Director of TGen’s Center for Food Microbiology and Environmental Health, said in a statement to the media. The research, published today in the journal Clinical Infectious Diseases , is the first national investigation of antibiotic resistant S. aureus in the U.S. food supply. The scientists collected and analyzed 136 samples of beef, chicken, pork and turkey sold under 80 brands in 26 retail grocery stores in Los Angeles, Chicago, Fort Lauderdale, Flagstaff and Washington, D.C. So where does this downright nauseating contamination come from? The TGen researchers reported that DNA testing shows the food the animals themselves were fed is likely the major source of contamination. “The fact that drug-resistant S. aureus was so prevalent, and likely came from the food animals themselves, is troubling, and demands attention to how antibiotics are used in food-animal production today,” Dr. Price added. The dirty truth many Americans — especially meat eaters — don’t want to face is that conditions on so-called industrial farms are not only often inhumane but downright sickening. Animals raised for slaughter are packed together densely and steadily fed low doses of antibiotics in their food. The new report concludes these industrial farms are the ideal breeding grounds for drug-resistant bacteria that can move from animals to the human population. “The emergence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria — including Staph — remains a major challenge in clinical medicine,” Paul S. Keim, Ph.D., Director of TGen’s Pathogen Genomics Division and Director of the Center for Microbial Genetics and Genomics at Northern Arizona University (NAU), emphasized in a media statement. “This study shows that much of our meat and poultry is contaminated with multidrug-resistant Staph. Now we need to determine what this means in terms of risk to the consumer,” Dr. Keim, a co-author of the paper, added. But doesn’t the U.S. government routinely survey retail meat and poultry for drug-resistant bacteria? The study points out the feds only check for four types of superbugs — but S. aureus is not among them. The paper urges a more comprehensive inspection program and points out S. aureus can cause devastating health problems. While it’s true Staph germs can usually be killed with proper cooking, the scientists pointed out Staph still poses a substantial health risk through improper food handling and cross-contamination in the kitchen. Infections with S. aureus can cause a range of illnesses from minor skin infections to life-threatening diseases, such as pneumonia, endocarditis (inflammation of the heart) and sepsis (infection in the bloodstream). And should you get one of these antibiotic-resistant strains from meat or poultry, treatment can be difficult. “Antibiotics are the most important drugs that we have to treat Staph infections; but when Staph are resistant to three, four, five or even nine different antibiotics –like we saw in this study — that leaves physicians few options,” Dr. Price stated. What’s in your future kitchen? Food fabrication technology prints out your meals in seconds

(NaturalNews) In the not-so-distant future, instead of buying manufactured food items at the store, you may instead just “print” them right in your own kitchen. The technology is called “food fabrication,” and it allows you to fabricate foods right in your own kitchen, layer by layer, in much the same way an inkjet printer prints a color bar chart on a piece of paper. This is an emerging technology that I predict will have a huge impact on the future of food. Several food fabrication devices already exist, in fact. Perhaps the most notable example is from Cornell University’s Computational Synthesis Lab (CCSL) (http://ccsl.mae.cornell.edu/3d_printing), where a project led by Dr Jeffrey Ian Lipton hopes to ultimately create a consumer-level food fabrication device that would one day be an integral part of every modern kitchen. With such a device, instead of running to the store to buy blueberry muffins, for example, you would simply download the 3D blueprint, then “print” the muffins on the food fab machine (and then bake them in your oven). Cool tech, but with pitfalls As cool as the technology sounds, however, keep in mind that it can really only fabricate foods out of homogenized, semi-liquid ingredients such as chocolate syrup, cookie dough, or tomato paste (for example). And it doesn’t create food out of nothing: You still need to load up the syringes with the various ingredients to be used in the fabrication. The food fab machine merely “prints out” those ingredients in the right proportions, shapes and layers. It does not, however, cook your food, chop vegetables or otherwise turn raw ingredients into cuisine. It could, however, create a nice “raw lasagna” if you load up the syringes with sufficiently thickened raw ingredients such as tomato paste, spinach paste and a flax / nut butter paste of some sort. But this technology also threatens to dehumanize our food right in our own kitchens. One of the greatest things about home food preparation right now is that every batch is unique and artistic . With home food fab machines, this art of food creation might literally be lost after just one generation as people forget how to create foods from scratch. Another concern is that the primary food ingredient “pastes” will likely be sold in bulk at the store in much the same way that you currently buy ink jet printer ink. In order to adhere to so-called “food safety” rules, those food ingredients will all have to be pasteurized, fumigated, irradiated or otherwise killed, meaning they will all be processed junk food pastes rather than anything containing real living food. Of course, there’s always the possibility that you could hack your food fab machine and load up one of the ingredient cylinders with a paste blended up from fresh ingredients you grew yourself, but the inconvenience of that means most people will avoid doing so. The vast majority of consumers will simply buy the food fab ingredients off the shelf and use those to churn out factory foods at home. $7,500 a gallon for ink? This brings me to the business model discussion of such a food fabrication device. What HP has proven in the world of computers is that consumers vastly underestimate the long-term costs of using printers and are primarily attracted by the seemingly low up-front cost of buying the hardware. A typical consumer, for example, thinks they’re getting a bargain paying $49 for an inkjet printer, not realizing they’re actually paying as much as $7,500 for each gallon of ink consumed by that printer in the future. Because consumers are so gullible in falling for this cost-shifting gimmick (hey, it works for Gillette’s shaving consumables, too!), the future of food fabrication machines will likely follow the same structure. Any corporation that hopes to maximize profits over the long run will all but give away the machines up front while charging exorbitant fees for the consumable food ingredients that must be used with the device. In order to guarantee their long-term profits, they’ll use all the same tricks that HP uses today to force consumers to buy name-brand toners and inkjet refills: Engineering physical limitations that make competing consumables incompatible with the fabrication device and even microchipping the consumable canisters to make sure that generic canisters don’t function in their machines. There will be a huge industry, however, that grows up around these devices: Expect somebody to make a fortune selling third-party “compatible” food ingredient canisters at a much lower price. A hacker community will also get involved and release open-source code for hacking the food fab devices in order to use them for purposes not intended by their original manufacturers, such as printing out “natural cure cookies” made with medicinal herbs that will have long since been banned by the FDA. You can also expect the government to eventually get involved in regulating food fab devices in order to “protect the public” from “unsafe muffins” fabricated on non-licensed devices. Creating your own ingredients to be used in such machines may one day be criminalized in much the same way that selling raw cow’s milk is today. The FDA, after all, doesn’t want people to have real control over their own food. Food fabrication machines represent far too much freedom and must therefore be aggressively regulated. Fabrication machines galore It’s not just food that’s going to be fabricated in your future home, by the way. A new wave of desktop fabrication machines that use resins and other materials are also in development. Makerbot Industries recently introduced the Thing-O-Matic object printer that can print small items out of a quick-hardening resin material (http://wiki.makerbot.com/thingomatic). You can use it to print all sorts of objects such as space invader earrings, tiny plastic tweezers, whistles and even gears. You accomplish this by downloading 3D designs from an open-source site called Thingiverse.com (http://www.thingiverse.com). So far, the library of objects from Thingiverse isn’t exactly impressive, as this technology is just getting off the ground (what? You don’t want your own plastic rhombohedron?). It won’t be long, however, before you can download and print out entire circuit boards, cell phones, and, in the case of astronauts on long space journeys, spare parts for your busted NASA spacecraft constructed by awarding government contracts to the lowest bidder. The ultimately geek goal for these fabrication devices, by the way, is to build a device that can replicate itself . If a Thing-O-Matic could print out another Thing-O-Matic and assemble it, then runaway replication could give rise to a race of self-replicating machines that would one day declare war on the human race and develop a popular series of sci-fi movies starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. Buying virtual blueprints for stuff instead of buying stuff All this promises huge changes for our consumer-based society. Today, the stuff we buy is manufactured in China, then shipped to our stores by burning fossil fuels. We then buy the stuff, take the stuff home, and toss it in a corner of the house somewhere, just in case we might actually need it one day. (Where’s that fly swatter when you need one?) In the future of fabrication devices, instead of storing the stuff itself, you simply buy the blueprint for the stuff . But you don’t actually need to create the physical object until you really need it. Is that fly buzzing around your head today? Load up the old fly swatter object model in your Thing-O-Matic and hit print. Grab the fly swatter as the machine spits it out and your problem is solved. The key thing in all this, of course, is that with at-home fabrication technology, instead of storing lots of physical objects such as fly swatters, soap holders, kitchen funnels and even cell phone covers, you simply store the raw resin which can be made into just about any object you want, in mere minutes. Sure, the electronic blueprint will cost you some bucks up front, but once you download the blueprint, you can print out an unlimited number of similar objects in the future. Why we will still need stores Desktop fabrication machines won’t be able to print out metal objects (at least not in the foreseeable future) for obvious reasons. They will be strictly limited to substances that can be squeezed out of small tubes, such as plastic resins or food ingredients. If you need to a heavy-duty wrench to fix that annoying leak under your kitchen sink, you’ll still need to buy that through retail distribution. Complex circuits and CPUs also won’t be printable through desktop fabrication machines anytime in the near future, although there is the possibility that you may be able to print out small solar panels within a decade or so (they’re doing it now on a larger scale). You also won’t be able to print out counterfeit $100 bills and hand them out to all your friends. That’s the job of the Federal Reserve. Nevertheless, food fabrication machines and desktop fabrication technology promise to truly revolutionize the way we buy and consume things in our modern society. They will also greatly reduce packaging waste since you no longer have to buy an object at retail, packaged in a plastic bubble shell that gets tossed into landfill. This might even qualify at-home fabrication devices as “green” technology. Watch for this technology to quickly advance, and expect large corporations to get involved in creating consumer-ready devices over the next few years. Ten food safety lies they didn’t tell you about with Senate Bill 510
December 1, 2010 by
(NaturalNews) The Food Safety Modernization Act looks like it’s headed to become law. It’s being hailed as a “breakthrough” achievement in food safety, and it would hand vast new powers and funding to the FDA so that it can clean up the food supply and protect all Americans from food-borne pathogens. There’s just one problem with all this: It’s all a big lie . Here are the ten biggest lies that have been promoted about S.510 by the U.S. Congress, the food industry giants and the mainstream media: Lie #1 – Most deaths from food poisoning are caused by fresh produce Here’s a whopper the mainstream media won’t dare report: Out of the 1,809 people who die in America every year from food-borne pathogens (CDC estimate), only a fraction die from the manufacturer’s contamination of fresh produce. By far the majority of food poisoning is caused by the consumption of spoiled processed foods , dead foods and animal-human transmission of pathogens. For example, one of the largest food-borne killers according to the CDC is Toxoplasma gondii , a disease that people acquire from cat feces coming into contact with their food, which can happen right in their own homes (http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/eid/Vol5no5/mead.htm#Table%203). Salmonella poisoning accounts for 553 deaths a year . As a reference for relative risk, over 42,000 people die each year from road accidents in the USA, meaning driving a car has a roughly 7600% higher chance of killing you than eating fresh produce. (http://www.driveandstayalive.com/info%20section/statistics/stats-multicountry-percapita-2003.htm) In terms of food-borne illness, many of the deaths come from things like spoiled tomato sauce, spoiled canned foods and spoiled pasteurized milk. S 510, of course, does absolutely nothing to address these food contamination deaths, since those foods are considered “sterilized” at the time of sale. Lie #2 – Under S.510, the FDA would only recall products it knows to be contaminated Not true. S.510 merely requires the FDA to have ” reason to believe ” a food is contaminated. So right there, that means all raw milk will be targeted by the FDA because even without conducting any scientific tests at all, the FDA can say it has “reason to believe” the milk is contaminated merely because it is raw . In other words, the FDA no longer needs science to outlaw a food product. It merely needs an opinion. Is this “reason to believe” section really true? Yep, and here’s how it was amended: SEC. 208. ADMINISTRATIVE DETENTION OF FOOD. 23 (a) IN GENERAL. – Section 304(h)(1)(A) (21 U.S.C.24 334(h)(1)(A)) is amended by (1) striking ”credible evidence or information indicating” and inserting ”reason to believe”; (http://frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi-bin/getdoc.cgi?dbname=111_cong_bills&docid=f:s510rs.txt.pdf) In other words, in negotiating this bill, the U.S. Senate removed the requirement that the FDA needed “credible evidence” in order to recall a product and, instead, replaced that with the FDA only needing “reason to believe.” It is utterly amazing that the U.S. Congress would give the FDA to conduct large-scale product recalls and even imprison people based entirely on what the agency “has reason to believe.” Last time I checked, the FDA held some pretty bizarre (if not downright moronic) beliefs, including this jaw-dropping whopper: The FDA literally believes that there is no food, no herb, no vitamin or supplement that has any ability to prevent disease of any kind . They don’t even believe limes can prevent scurvy, and you’d have to nutritionally illiterate to believe that. The FDA believes foods are inert and that all the amazing phytonutrients in those foods (carotenoids, antioxidants, therapeutic fats like omega-3 and so on) are utterly useless for human biology. This belief, held by the FDA that has now been put in charge of the food supply, is the belief system of an insane government agency that has completely lost touch with reality while abandoning nutritional science. Lie #3 – They didn’t tell you that nearly 70% of grocery store chickens are contaminated with salmonella every day Yep, it’s true: Amid all the fear-mongering over salmonella, everybody forgot to notice that the vast majority of fresh chickens sold at grocery stores every single day are widely contaminated with salmonella (http://www.naturalnews.com/028661_chickens_salmonella.html). Yet S 510 does absolutely nothing to address this. It’s not even mentioned in the bill. In fact, it is these contaminated chickens that end up cross-contaminating the fresh produce in many kitchens across America. So the so-called “food poisoning” that’s often blamed on spinach or onions often originates with the contaminated chicken meat people bring home and slice on their kitchen cutting boards. Lie #4 – S.510 will exclude and protect small farmers The Tester Amendment , which was finally included in S.510, excludes farmers who sell less than $500,000 worth of food each year from the more onerous paperwork and compliance burdens described in the bill. But this dollar amount is not indexed to inflation , meaning that as the U.S. dollar continues to lose value due to the Federal Reserve counterfeiting machine running at full speed (more “quantitative easing,” anyone?), food prices will continue to skyrocket — and this will shift even small family farms into the $500,000 sales range within just a few years. In fact, a single-family farm with just four people could easily sell $500,000 worth of fresh produce a year right now, even before inflation. Remember, $500,000 is not their profit, but rather the gross sales amount. The profits on that might be only $50,000 or even less. Furthermore, this $500,000 threshold means that small, successful farms that are doing well and would like to expand will refuse to hire more people or expand their operations. To avoid the tyranny of S 510, small farms will try to stay small, and that means avoiding the kind of business expansion that would create new jobs. Lie #5 – The FDA needs more power to enforce food safety The FDA already has the power to effectively recall foods by publicly announcing a product has been found to be contaminated. The FDA already has the power to confiscate “misbranded” products, too, and it could easily use this power to halt the sale of contaminated food items. But the FDA simply refuses to enforce the laws already on the books and, instead, has sought to expand its power by hyping up the e.coli food scares. The ploy apparently worked: Now in a reaction to the food scare-mongering, the FDA is being handed not just new powers, but more funding, too! And you can bet it will find creative new ways to put this power to work suppressing the health freedoms and food freedoms of the American people. Lie #6 – Fresh produce is contaminated because of a lack of paperwork There is no evidence that requiring farms to fill out more paperwork will make their food safer. The real cause of produce contamination is the existence of factory animal farms whose effluent output (huge rivers of cow feces, basically), end up in the water supply, soils and equipment that comes into contact with fresh produce. The food contamination problem is an UPSTREAM problem where you’ve got to reform the factory animal operations that now dominate the American meat industry. S.510, however, does absolutely nothing to address this. Factory animal farms aren’t even addressed in the bill! Lie #7 – The American people are dying in droves from unsafe fresh food The truth is that Americans are dying from processed food laced with toxic chemical additives, not from fresh, raw produce. Partially-hydrogenated oils, white sugar, aspartame, MSG and artificial food colors almost certainly kill far more people than bacterial contaminations. The American public is also dying from pharmaceuticals — anywhere from 100,000 to 240,000 people a year are killed by FDA-approved drugs (http://www.naturalnews.com/001894.html), most of which have been approved under the guise of blatantly fraudulent science and drug company trickery. The FDA doesn’t seem to mind. In fact, it has been a willful co-conspirator in the scientific fraud carried out by Big Pharma in the name of “medicine.” (http://www.naturalnews.com/027851_health_news_Big_Pharma.html) To think that the FDA — the very same agency responsible for the Big Pharma death machine — is now going to “save us” by controlling food safety is highly irrational. Lie #8 – The FDA just wants to make food “safer” Actually, the FDA wants to make the food more DEAD. Both the FDA and the USDA are vocal opponents of live food. They think that the only safe food is sterilized food , which is why they’ve supported the fumigation, pasteurization and irradiation efforts that have been pushed over the last few years. California almond growers, for example, must now either chemically fumigate or pasteurize their almonds before selling them (http://www.naturalnews.com/021776.html). This has destroyed the incomes of U.S. almond farmers and forced U.S. food companies to buy raw almonds from Spain and other countries. Lie #9 – Food smuggling is a huge problem in America One of the main sections of S.510 addresses “food smuggling.” Yep — people smuggling food across the country. If you’ve never heard of this problem that’s because it’s not actually a problem. Not yet anyway. But there’s a reason why they put this into the bill: Because they’re probably planning on criminalizing fresh produce and then arresting people for transporting broccoli with the “intent to distribute.” Yep, farmers bringing fresh produce to sell at the weekend farmer’s market could soon be arrested and imprisoned as if they were drug smugglers. Hence the need for the “food smuggling” provisions of S.510. Soon, we will all have to meet in secret locations just to trade carrots for cash. Lie #10 – S.510 will make America’s food supply the safest in the world Actually, even with S.510 in place, America’s food supply is among the most chemically contaminated in the world, second only to China. You can find mercury in the seafood, BPA in the canned soup, yeast extract (MSG) in the “natural” potato chips, and artificial petrochemical coloring agents in children’s foods. Eating the “Standard American Diet” is probably the single most harmful thing a person can do for their health. It’s the fastest way to get cancer, diabetes and heart disease. Every nation in the world that begins to consume the American diet starts to show record rates of degenerative disease within one generation . This is the “safe food” that the U.S. Senate is now pushing on everyone. Remember, with S.510, SAFE = DEAD. And the FDA says it wants to keep everybody safe. We are working hard to fight for freedom and educate the public about why we need to resist these “Big Government solutions” that trample over our Constitutional rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness (which, in my mind, includes buying fresh produce at the farmer’s market). Rejuvenate Plus superfood is high in DNA and RNA with sprouts, chlorella and more
November 18, 2010 by
(NaturalNews) The list of superfood products I consume on a daily basis is a very short list, and the quality of products on that list keeps getting better each year. You probably already know that when I blend up a superfood fruit smoothie , I add a scoop of Rejuvenate Berries and Herbs , which is an extremely delicious, nutrient packed, high-RNA superfood made with real berries. I reviewed that superfood product in February of this year: http://www.naturalnews.com/028242_Rejuvenate_superfood.html At that time, we were launching Rejuvenate Berries and Herbs in the NaturalNews Store at a special introductory price which expired a few weeks later, and this superfood product has been carried at its regular (full) price ever since. Now, a lot of NaturalNews readers may not know this, but the Rejuvenate Berries and Herbs was actually the second superfood product formulated by Dr Hank Liers, a brilliant nutritionist who has consistently been decades ahead of the pack on the subject of nutrients and healing. There’s another product — the first product — that you’ve probably never heard about. It’s simply called Rejuvenate Plus . The reason you probably haven’t heard of Rejuvenate Plus is because it’s a hard-core, high-RNA superfood that’s really, really green. It’s so green that when you consume this for a couple of days, you turn green on the inside from end to end (seriously). It’s loaded with chlorella, organic kelp, spirulina (from Hawaii), chia seeds, nutritional yeast and other high-RNA superfoods. My big mistake I may have made a huge mistake in not talking about this product six months ago, but I assumed it was too “hard core” for most people . So I just focused on the “Berries and Herbs” Rejuvenate product because it has such a pleasant, acceptable taste, making it more of a mainstream superfood product. But one day I was talking to Holly in our advertising department about what superfoods she likes the most (all NaturalNews employees consume superfoods of one kind or another — it’s one of the secrets of our high productivity). I noticed she had a canister of Rejuvenate Plus (the green stuff, not the berries flavor) on her desk. When I asked her about it, she said that it was her favorite superfood. She would mix a scoop of Rejuvenate Plus with water and shake it up in a Blender Bottle, then chug it as a late-morning snack or early afternoon pick-me-up. And then she said something that really got my attention. “Why don’t we offer this in the NaturalNews Store?” she asked. “Do you realize I have to buy this somewhere else?” Come to think of it, I realized, so did I! I was buying Rejuvenate Plus , too, because I like to use it in my chocolate avocado smoothies . (Blend up some almond milk, one avocado, one banana, a scoop of X-Balance chocolate superfood, some Boku Superfood and this green Rejuvenate Plus, and you’ve got a ridiculously nutrient-packed superfood blend…) I also started to receive comments from readers and customers who had heard about this other Rejuvenate product and wondered how to get it. So before long we were talking to Dr Hank Liers about how we could carry Rejuvenate Plus in our store. What’s in it? The best high-RNA superfoods Thanks to the FDA’s ridiculous crackdown on truthful scientific information about the health benefits of nutritional products, I can’t even tell you much about RNA and why people value it so much as an element in their food. But if you search around for the work of Dr Benjamin S. Frank and his research on RNA, you may find a rather interesting collection of information about why and how RNA is a crucial element for cellular health*. To deliver RNA, this Rejuvenate Plus superfood relies on chlorella, chlorella growth factor (CGF), nutritional yeast and even RNA extracts of nutritional yeast ; all combined with other supporting ingredients such as chia seeds (omega-3s), rice bran solubles (much like tocotrienols) and some very high-end configurations of nutrients such as magnesium malate (not some cheap magnesium oxide) and methylcobalamin (the premium, expensive version of vitamin B12). It also delivers organic dulse (a seaweed) and organic kelp, both of which are rich in naturally-occurring ocean minerals . The upshot of all this is that Rejuvenate is so nutrient dense and so richly green that it’s just too much nutrition for most people to handle, frankly. This is not a “mainstream consumer” superfood. Your typical Joe Schmo off the street probably wouldn’t touch it (he’s drinking Diet Pepsi anyway, and he thinks that’s good for him!). When these cops saw my green superfood, they freaked… People who don’t know much about nutrition are freaked out by green liquids. I remember one time when I was serving on the board of a non-profit supporting the needs of local cops in Arizona (yes, I actually used to work alongside local law enforcement), I actually brought in a blender pitcher full of a giant green smoothie for an all-day meeting. You should have seen the cops sitting around the table! They looked at me and asked quizzically, “What is that?” I methodically described all the superfoods that were in it and how this drink would improve performance, reflexes, night vision and reflexes. (This was before Rejuvenate even existed, so this wasn’t Rejuvenate in the recipe.) These police officers got really interested and one even agreed to try it ! (Imagine how much healthier cops would be if they actually drank superfoods everyday instead of living on drive-thru burgers… but that’s another story.) My point is that everyday people aren’t really into drinking green liquids. Only people who really know nutrition will gulp down thick green liquids with a smile. People like me! (And probably like you, too.) My green superfood chocolate smoothie recipe Truth be told, my own green chocolate smoothies taste amazing . I add fresh banana, avocado, some stevia, some raw cacao, chia seeds, raw coconut oil, raw almond milk, premium vanilla and some other ingredients along with all the superfoods I blend in. By the time I’m done blending this thing up, it’s a green nutritional masterpiece. No store-bought superfood even comes close to what I blend up in my kitchen every single day. And I wouldn’t give up my superfood for anything. This is what keeps me going. It’s the reason I can keep writing two feature articles a day while producing music videos, songs, cartoons, animations, interviews… all while running the entire editorial department of NaturalNews at the same time (it takes a lot of energy, believe me…) I’ve known for a long time how much I enjoy these ridiculously nutrient-dense superfoods… I just never realized that so many other people wanted the same high-density nutrition that I’m into! I never knew the green Rejuvenate Plus would be so popular! So now we have it in stock, and they did us a price favor, too To cut to the chase here, we talked with Dr Hank Liers and as of today, we now have the green Rejuvenate Plus superfood in the NaturalNews Store. It’s here on our specials page right now, in both a single canister and a 3-pack at a significant discount: Click here to see the price on the original “green” Rejuvenate in our store. We wrangled with them over the price of Rejuvenate, as we insisted in being able to offer it at a substantial discount. (I absolutely despise carrying products at the regular retail price because I always to give NaturalNews readers a compelling reason to shop with us, and saving money is one very good compelling reason.) After some back-and-forth, they agree to a strictly time-limited promotion of 30% off the regular price on the 3-pack. (It’s 20% off for a single canister.) This is the lowest price they would allow us to offer. So if you want some of the “green” Rejuvenate Plus that Holly loves (and that I blend into my chocolate avocado smoothies), this is the best price you’re likely to ever get on it. I very much doubt we will ever be given permission to offer this discount again: Click here to take advantage of the 20% / 30% discount on the original “green” Rejuvenate. You’ll also notice that the Berries and Herbs flavor or Rejuvenate is back on special in our store. You can pick up some of those, too, if you like that flavor (I use it in my fruit smoothies). A couple of important notes Before you get the green Rejuvenate Plus product, though, I really want to be clear that this is not a product for nutrition newbies . This is not a “kids” product (although a few kids raised on healthy foods might actually enjoy it). Kelp noodles for weight loss? These noodles have just six calories per serving

(NaturalNews) I love to eat noodles, but I don’t like all the carbs that go along with them. They’re starchy, loaded with calories, and they really pack on the body fat if you eat too many. That’s why I got really excited about what I’m about to share with you here: Kelp noodles are made from seaweed and contain virtually no starches and only six calories per serving. Yep, you read that right: 6 calories. Not 60 or 600. But six. You can eat all these noodles you want, in virtually unlimited quantities because you’ll feel physically full before you can take in enough calories to increase body fat. (Don’t try to live off these alone, however. They do NOT contain the broad spectrum of phytonutrients needed to provide a balanced, healthy diet just by themselves.) An entire bag of these kelp noodles contains only 18 calories (yes, the entire bag!). That’s 12 ounces of food with only 18 calories total . Compare that to any noodle product on the market… What are kelp noodles? These are soft, somewhat watery noodles made from sea kelp. In fact, they contain only three ingredients: Water, Kelp and Sodium Alginate (made from brown seaweed). That’s it! They’re a raw, mineral-rich food that you can use much like regular noodles to make spaghetti, raw noodle salads, noodle soups and much more. You can stir-fry these noodles or use them in a casserole. I personally like to use them on top of steamed broccoli and other vegetables to make a late-night snack that’s rich in minerals but virtually devoid of calories. Now, these kelp noodles don’t taste like starchy noodles made from wheat, of course. They’re not starchy or gummy like wheat noodles. They’re slightly crunchy (even though they’re mostly liquid), and are far stronger than wheat noodles. So you can boil them in soups for as long as you want and they still hold together. Don’t expect them to taste exactly like wheat noodles, however, because they’re quite different. Raw foodies love these noodles because they’re a raw, mineral rich food made from sea vegetables. They like to use them in salads, raw soups and even guacamole! Here’s an awesome page with recipes and photos of these kelp noodles in several innovative food dishes: http://www.reallyrawfood.com/fruity-subjects-and-some-veggies/kelp-noodles-exposed/ As the author says on that page, these kelp noodles have a neutral flavor , meaning they pick up whatever flavors you use with them — salty, tangy or even sweet. Kelp noodles now on sale at the NaturalNews Store Right now, we’ve got these versatile, nutritious kelp noodles on sale at the NaturalNews Store for 20% off . Click here to see the discount price at the NN store. When you buy 3 bags of these kelp noodles, the discount increases to 29% off . (Look for the 3-pack special on the link above.) These are really affordable, versatile noodles with a good shelf life and a hundred different uses around the kitchen. Outstanding for weight loss or blood sugar control These kelp noodles offer fantastic support for those looking to control their weight or blood sugar levels. Because kelp noodles have virtually no calories (just 6 calories per serving) and contain only 1 gram of carbohydrate per serving (yes, just one), they can be part of a healthy plan for sensible weight control and blood sugar control. Starchy noodles and pasta made from wheat can spike blood sugar levels, resulting in increased insulin production and body fat storage. That’s why people looking to lose weight don’t pig out on pasta! These kelp noodles give you an easy way to eat a large mass of noodles without a large associated calorie count. For those who are counting calories and trying to either maintain weight or restrict their calories for long-term weight loss, being able to enjoy food that doesn’t add to your waist line is a remarkable thing, indeed! Click here to pick up some of these kelp noodles while they’re on sale at the NaturalNews Store. They’re actually quite affordable, especially at the sale price we’ve got going right now. They contain no fat and absolutely no chemical additives or preservatives. They’re also made in the USA , by the way, right out of California from a company called Sea Tangle . This is a really fantastic food for health-conscious eaters. I’m really glad I was introduced to these noodles, and I’m finding all sorts of new ways to use them! I think you will, too. Enjoy! How Angela Stokes went from morbid obesity to a fit, thin body with raw foods

(NaturalNews) Angela Stokes once weighed 294 pounds. Seeing her today, it’s hard to imagine that she was once stuck in what she called a “miserable cycle of morbid obesity.” That’s because right now, she’s thin, healthy and downright beautiful. I know because she and her partner Matt Monarch were my neighbors in Ecuador, and I had the privilege of hanging out with them from time to time over the last several months. The question people always ask, though, is “How did Angela get so thin, healthy and vibrant while letting go of all that body fat?” And the answer to that may surprise you because she didn’t do it with some surgical shortcut or chemical intervention. Instead, Angela Stokes turned to raw foods and transformed her diet. That, in turn, transformed her body, and then her mind, and everything about her including her relationships with others. As she writes on her web page, “Within just a month of going raw, I had my first boyfriend in over 5 years – I was thrilled and increasingly inspired and dedicated to my new lifestyle.” A woman with incredibly courage I never knew Angela before she got healthy. I’ve only known her as a super healthy, happy and thoughtful person who celebrates the joys of life. She’ll marvel at the growth of new plants in the garden, and she delights in sharing a new superfood recipe with anyone who wants to learn. She and Matt often harvest omega-3-rich “weeds” from their property near Vilcabamba and blend them together with fresh mangos and other seasonal fruits to make an amazing superfood smoothie beverage like nothing you’ve ever tasted before. Perhaps the most remarkable thing about Angela is not merely that she overcame an extremely difficult situation with morbid obesity, but that she found the courage to write about it and help teach others to venture forward on a similar path of self healing . She has created a series of written materials where she shares her best wisdom (and secrets!) about what works to reform your health from the inside out by turning to raw foods. The collection of her materials is actually called Raw Reform , and you can download it all right now from the NaturalNews Store by clicking here . In her collection, Angela has a how-to guide, an amazing raw foods recipe book, how to overcome “emotional” eating addictions and habits, insights and advice on dealing with the physical changes of serious weight loss (stretched skin, detox experiences, etc.) and much more. That’s what’s so amazing about Angela: She’s been there and done it! She has gone through the transformation and has now helped probably tens of thousands of others navigate a similar path of self healing. I was once nearly obese, too It’s no secret that I was once borderline obese as well. Although I never got up to 300 pounds, I was embarrassingly overweight and nearly diabetic. I used principles of nutrition and exercise to get to a healthy weight, so I also know what it’s like to be a heavy person who needs to unleash some self-healing in order to get to the healthy, fit body we all have inside. I know it seems intimidating at first, because saying “no” to that donut — or pizza, or ice cream — can seem like the hardest thing you’ve ever done at first. But I also know that people who have been through it can be invaluable coaches to help you avoid the pitfalls and achieve lasting results. Angela Stokes is perhaps one of the best coaches you’ll ever find in the world of health-oriented healing and body balancing — meaning you find your correct “balance” rather than just focusing on “losing.” Because, let’s face it, when you get healthy, you’re not “losing” anything — you’re gaining your life back! If you’re like most people who struggle with eating and body image, Angela can help you get your life back. She knows what really works; she knows what emotional and dietary traps to avoid; and she knows all about the personal transformation that takes place along the way. Reading her books may inspire you beyond anything you’ve ever achieved before along the lines of healthy living or weight loss. And the best part is that even while reducing body fat, you’ll be increasing your nutritional density! That’s because Angela eats (and teaches) a superfood-rich diet that’s loaded with healing medicinal foods and superfoods. I know this from personal experience. One time I walked over to their house in Ecuador and saw their kitchen stacked with fresh mangos. “Where did you get all these mangos?” I asked. Matt explained they found someone selling mangos at the local market in Vilcabamba and offered him a price for his entire inventory. The seller agreed, so they brought home maybe a hundred mangos which were now displayed across all the countertops of their kitchen. Over the next day or so, they proceeded to peel and dice all those hundred mangos, then they stored the bits in their freezer. For the following month, they used those frozen mangos to blend up amazing mango smoothies mixed with wild greens, herbs and grasses. And no matter how green their smoothies were, they always tasted delicious! (They would treat me to a taste from time to time, and I was always amazed.) Another time they had my wife and I over for a “raw Mexican food” dinner. They had prepared an unbelievably delicious meal made with raw tortillas, guacamole, salsa and even raw “sour cream” (without using dairy). We enjoyed the most amazing Mexican-style raw food (in Ecuador!) I’ve ever tasted. Some of those recipes are in Angela’s recipe book, too. Click here to see Angela’s books… The real McCoy The thing is, the so-called “weight loss” industry is filled with a lot of people who aren’t the real deal — people hawking gimmicks and shortcuts that don’t work. In great contrast to that, Angela is the real deal — a genuine guru of raw food healing. She’s not a saleswoman, she’s not faking it, and she actually lives what she teaches every single day. Both she and Matt are people who genuinely live the lifestyle they promote, and whether you’re interested in just going partially raw or temporarily raw or fully raw , you’ll save yourself countless hours by learning from someone who has already been through it: Angela Stokes. You can read more about her story right here: http://store.naturalnews.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=100239_97_100142_100198 I think that no matter what your health goal — to lose weight, to increase vitality, to prevent disease or even boost brain function — you’ll learn a wealth of information from Angela. Her approach to things is insightful and seemingly advanced beyond her years. Perhaps because of the young age of her health crisis (she weighed nearly 300 pounds by age 21), she was faced with early challenges that many others never encountered until years or decades later. Out of that, she emerged as a role model who has now inspired countless other women (and men!) to achieve similar health breakthroughs in their own lives. Check out her story at the link above. You’ll be amazed and inspired. And you may just find that Angela Stokes can show you the very path toward healthy body weight and self healing that you’ve been looking for. She’s definitely earned my respect for her courage and her transformation. I consider her a blessing to the entire natural health community, and I hope that her message reaches thousands more who share in these amazing healing principles that Angela Stokes has discovered and shared.
