The deep psychology behind your health

(NaturalNews) The relationship between psychological health and physical health has long been established. Even most medical doctors today warn against the dangers of mental stress that flows from overwork, chronic family conflict, unhealthy compensating or general maladjustment to the demands of life. This is old news. The intriguing question now is how does this relationship between mental health and physical health function? When you are stressed out, depressed or confused, how does your body react to create a state of less-than-optimal health or even disease? The answer to this question leads us down a slippery slope full of speculation and metaphor. If you’re open minded, however, the ride is not only exhilarating, but enlightening. In a recent conversation with Mike Adams of NaturalNews.com, Mike shocked me with the following: “Cancer is a natural process that gets out of control. When you cut your skin and it begins to heal, those cells are involved in a cancer-like process. They know how to divide, grow and heal. But, they also know when to stop growing. Otherwise, you would end up with a giant growth out of your arm or wherever you cut yourself. The same is true when a woman is pregnant. The cells of the fetus are involved in a cancer-like process, a very rapid division and growth in an organized way.” Here is the fascinating piece: Cancerous tumors, when removed from the body, sometimes contain hair, teeth and organs. They don’t tell people that a cancer cell in the body tries to become a whole person. Think about that for a minute. After conception, you have a single, fertilized egg. If the conditions are right, it develops into a person. That is the way it is supposed to work. But, when you have a cancer tumor in the body, it “decides” it wants to be a whole person, too. It doesn’t want to be a specialized cell, playing a small role in a larger body. It wants to be a whole body and it does not have any plans to stop dividing and spreading. What to do with this information? Consider your life. Do you know who you are and what you stand for? Do you meander through life, confused and afraid to make strong decisions? Do you live in a house divided, with internal conflict eating at you day and night? When you lie down to sleep, are you at peace or are you harangued by stray thoughts that clutter your mind? Good psychological health implies clear values, the ability to access a state of inner calm, healthy personal boundaries (knowing your limits, when to say yes vs. no) and a general, pervasive feeling of well-being and certainty in this uncertain world. These and other essential mental health resources are fundamental. Life requires them at a minimum. Those who do not naturally possess or consciously dev elop these essentials of healthy character are at a distinct disadvantage in the social realm. Are they also exposed to greater health risks? The most compelling logic suggests that, yes, they are. Imagine for a moment that your mind and body, craving the clarity, calm and certainty that comes with solid mental health and a low-stress way of being, is just not getting what it needs. Lacking direction, it lives in a state of chronic confusion, conflict and anxiety. Doesn’t it make sense that some part of you at some point takes matters into its own hands? Might that entail an attempt to develop new parts of you, given the current lack of resources? Witnessing the hair, teeth and partial organs contained in a cancerous tumor validates this logic in a very unsettling way. The moral of the story: Put real effort into your mental health! Learn to be clear, honest and certain. Know who you are and what you stand for. Develop effective communication skills and the capacity for inner peace. Give your mind and body what it needs and it won’t have a reason to rebel.

Sprouts: An ideal emergency preparedness food

(NaturalNews) Given the rapidity with which critical global events are unfolding, preparedness just makes good sense. The question isn’t whether or not to be prepared – it’s what to be prepared for? Earthquakes, nuclear accidents, tsunamis, power outages and gasoline shortages have been on this week’s menu. Each, of course, has its own specific type of preparedness protocols. But, no matter what kind of unexpected event looms large, there is always a need for food. Food shortages could result from any of the aforementioned potential scenarios, as well as from any number of scenarios that I haven’t mentioned. There are any number of ways to approach food shortage preparedness, but my preferred method is sprouts! Sprouts are, in my mind, the number one, perfect survival ration. I think that sprouting seeds belong in every household’s emergency kit. Let’s look at some of the reasons that I think this. First of all, sprouting seeds have a long storage life. Sprouting seeds can be stored up to four years at a stable temperature of 70 degrees F. They are small and lightweight and, thus, don’t take up vast amounts of storage space. You can buy them already prepared for storage or simply buy them in bulk from any reputable health food store and put them in airtight, waterproof storage containers yourself. Glass canning jars with rubber-ringed lids are a good option. You want something that is rodent proof, as little critters like seeds, too! Once sealed, the sprouting seeds can be stashed in a cool, dry, dark corner of the attic or pantry for years. The next reason that I think sprouts are ideal emergency rations is their rich, digestible energy, bioavailable vitamins, minerals, amino acids, proteins, beneficial enzymes and phytochemicals. Let’s face it: if you are involved in an emergency situation, you want healthy, nutritious food. Crises are not the time to have to rely on empty calories. Once germinated, sprouts provide a good supply of vitamins A, E and C plus B complex. Like enzymes, vitamins serve as bioactive catalysts to assist in the digestion and metabolism of food and the release of energy. They are also essential for the healing and repair of cells. During World War II, considerable interest in sprouts developed as a result of an article written by Dr. Clive M. McKay, Professor of Nutrition at Cornell University. Dr. McKay opened his article with this dramatic announcement: “Wanted! A vegetable that will grow in any climate, will rival meat in nutritive value, will mature in 3 to 5 days, may be planted any day of the year, will require neither soil nor sunshine, will rival tomatoes in vitamin C, will be free of waste in preparation and can be cooked with little fuel and as quickly as a … chop.” Well, there you have it! Another reason that sprouts get my vote is the fact that they are extremely inexpensive. You are not tying up massive financial resources in preparedness. For example, you can get alfalfa, wheat, rye, barley, triticale, spelt, kamut, quinoa, sesame or amaranth for roughly eight dollars a pound. And, a pound of sprouting seeds is going to yield buckets of sprouts! If you want the Cadillac of sprouts, you could get broccoli sprouts for somewhere in the neighborhood of twenty-five dollars a pound. Famous for their antioxidant content, broccoli sprouts can contain up to fifty times the sulfurophane found in mature broccoli, by weight, so you get as much antioxidant in one ounce of broccoli sprouts as you would if you ate three pounds of fully grown broccoli. There is plenty of variety available, too, with sprouts. There are dozens of types of sprouts from mung and adzukis to mustard or fenugreek. If you stashed away a handful of this and a handful of that, you would have plenty of variety to keep your emergency fare from becoming monotonous. Sprouts are really versatile and can be used in green smoothies, in place of vegetables, or in all kinds of salads. In an emergency situation, they can be mixed with stored nuts and seeds to make delicious, fortifying living food salads. One of the highlights of sprouts is the ease of growing them. And, they can be grown 100 percent indoors, requiring very limited space. While they are growing, they do not need any refrigeration. And, under emergency conditions, they can be eaten directly from your “kitchen garden.” All that is needed to grow them is a glass jar with a mesh lid. Or, you can opt for growing them in a large glass baking dish on paper towels. They have to be rinsed several times a day, so having clean water on hand is, of course, imperative. A lot of good information about various methods for growing sprouts are available on the internet and you can choose a method that will fit your particular circumstances. Sprout seeds are easy to store. The germinated sprouts are packed with nutrition, alive, inexpensive, varied, and easy to grow in your “kitchen garden.” They are ideal for your preparedness kit. But, why wait for a crisis? Why not just start enjoying them now?

Nearly all drug trials scientifically invalid due to influence of the mind; Big Pharma science dissolves into wishful thinking

(NaturalNews) A new study in Science Translational Medicine has cast doubt over the scientific validity of nearly all randomized, double-blind placebo controlled studies involving pharmaceuticals used on human beings. It turns out that many pharmaceuticals only work because people expect them to , not because they have any “real” chemical effect on the body. As you’ll see here, when test subjects were told that they were not receiving painkiller medications — even though they were — the medication proved to be completely worthless. This particular experiment involved applying heat to the legs of test subjects in order to cause pain, then adding a painkiller medication to an IV drip while assessing the subjects’ pain levels. When the painkiller drug was present, the test subjects were told about it, and just as expected their pain scores significantly dropped. But when test subjects were told the pain medication had been stopped , their pain levels returned back to the original, non-medicated levels even though the pain medication was secretly still being dripped into their IVs . The mind of the patient, in other words, is what actually determines the “effectiveness” of the pain drug, not the chemical effect of the drug itself. Talking to the BBC, Professor Irene Tracey from Oxford University said, “It’s phenomenal, it’s really cool. It’s one of the best analgesics we have and the brain’s influence can either vastly increase its effect, or completely remove it.” (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-12480310). As pointed out by George Lewith, a professor of health research at the University of Southampton, these findings call into question the scientific validity of many randomized clinical trials . He said, “It completely blows cold randomized clinical trials, which don’t take into account expectation.” Many pharmaceuticals only work if you believe they do What the research really means, you see, is that the mind is the main determiner of the effectiveness of many drugs , not the so-called chemical profile of the drugs themselves. This has been proven out again and again with not just painkiller drugs, but also with antidepressant drugs which have consistently failed to out-perform placebo. (http://www.naturalnews.com/022723.html) But it all brings up a question: If many pharmaceuticals only work because the mind makes them real, then why do some drugs appear to out-perform placebo in clinical trials? The answer to that will probably surprise you: It’s because when people are in randomized, placebo-controlled studies, they’re usually hoping to get the real drugs, not the placebo . And how do they determine whether they’re getting the “real” drugs? By the presence of negative side effects! As those side effects begin to appear — constipation, sexual disorders, nausea, headaches, etc — then those participants convince themselves that they received the “real” drugs! And from that point, their mind makes it real! So the blood pressure actually then starts to go down, or their cholesterol numbers drop, and so on. The patients make real whatever expectation they were given when they were recruited for the drug trial in the first place. Even the act of recruiting people for drug trials sets an expectation in their minds. Patients, after all, are recruited for a “cancer drug trial” or a “blood pressure drug trial” or some other trial in which the expected outcome is made evident during the recruitment phase. This is all really important to understand so I’m going to break it down step by step: Why pharmaceutical “positive” effects are actually generated by the minds of the clinical trial participants: Step 1: Clinical trial participants are recruited through a trial that is advertised as testing a drug for a particular outcome such as lowering blood pressure, halting cancer, normalizing blood sugar, etc. This sets the expectation of the drug effects in the minds of the patients even before the trial begins. Step 2: When the trial begins, the clinical trial participants are told that half will be given the “real” drug, and the other half will be given a placebo, but it’s a blind study, so no one knows whether they’re receiving the drug or the placebo. Step 3: Study participants begin to take the pills, but they don’t know whether they’re getting drugs or placebo. Step 4: Those participants who are receiving the real drugs begin to show toxic side effects (because most pharmaceuticals are toxic to the body). This excites them because they conclude that they are on the “real” drugs! Step 5: Those participants who conclude they are on the “real” drugs then, through the power of their minds, cause their bodies to make real the physiological effects that were imprinted in their minds in step one! Whatever drug expectation was explained to them before the trial, in other words, is suddenly made real by the patient’s mind. Step 6: Meanwhile, those patients receiving the placebo pills and having no side effects convince themselves that they aren’t receiving the “real” drugs and therefore they should experience no positive physiological effects. So their mind makes that real, too, and they get no benefit from the whole experience. Step 7: After the end of the clinical trial, the researchers compare the results of the placebo group against the results of the drug group, and guess what? The drug looks like it performed better! But was the drug the actual cause of that? Not at all: It was the expectations of the study subjects that made the effects real. The drugs, in other words, only look good as a result of wishful thinking. As you can see here, this calls into question the scientific validity of every randomized, double-blind placebo-controlled drug study that has ever been conducted . The critical scientific failure they all share, you see, is that as part of the clinical trial, the researchers set the expectations of the drug’s results in the minds of the patients. It is those minds that then made the effects real, not necessarily the drugs. This leads to the fascinating conclusion that in today’s medical system, many drugs may only work when patients expect them to because it is the patient’s mind creating the physiological effects, not the drug itself. So how do you get around this and design a truly scientific trial that eliminates the effect of the mind? How to design a truly scientific clinical trial using drugs The answer to that is simpler than you think: In humans, you must eliminate the trial subjects from learning of any expectation of the drug’s effects. In other words, you can’t sign patients up for a “blood pressure drug trial” because right there you’ve set the expectation that the drug will lower blood pressure. You essentially have to sign people up for a trial of a “mystery drug” with no expectation of any effects whatsoever. That way, the mind of the study participants is no longer a variable in the outcome of the drug trial. From there, all the various physiological effects of the patients must be tracked. With the patients’ minds now out of the picture, you can get an honest assessment of the genuine chemical action of the drug itself. Why most clinical trials are scientifically invalid It is fascinating, of course, that virtually no clinical trials are ever conducted in this way. Today’s drug trials are almost universally described to patients along with the expectations of the outcome. This has been done for decades under the false belief that the mind somehow played no role whatsoever in the physiology of the body . Conventional medical researchers and scientists incorrectly believed that chemistry alone would dictate the outcome of the trial. The mind had nothing to do with it, they claimed. They were wrong. The mind has everything to do with it. In fact, the mind can make a placebo “real” and render a drug useless . The mind has near total control over the outcome of the trial. Because this has almost never been taken into account, all those clinical trials that ignored the influence variable of intention are, technically speaking, scientifically invalid . There’s no way to know whether the outcome of the trial was due to the drug or the mind. And that makes the mind a variable in the scientific question of what is at work in a clinical trial. When the mind is at work, you cannot scientifically claim the achieved results were simply due to the drug itself. Unless, of course, you disavow the influence of the mind. And that is precisely the mistake that has been made since the dawn of modern medical science. The pharmaceutical industry’s “science” falls apart in the presence of the mind Once you understand the power of the mind to either create real physiological effects in the body or nullify the chemicals being administered to the body, you immediately grasp the stunning conclusion: Big Pharma’s “science” is not scientific! Virtually all the results from the tens of thousands of clinical trials that have been conducted over the last several decades must now be called into question. In which trials did patients produce their own positive results simply through the power of their minds after believing that negative side effects meant they were taking the “real” drugs? It is not a question to be taken lightly. This question, in fact, will demolish modern pharmaceutical “science” once it is fully understood. The pharmaceutical industry, you see, needs the power of the mind to make its drugs appear to work! Without the “wishful thinking” factor engaged, it is altogether likely that most pharmaceuticals simply don’t work at all . The truth is that virtually all the effects of the most commonly prescribed pharmaceuticals — diabetes drugs, blood pressure drugs, painkillers, statin drugs and so on — can be achieved without using any drugs whatsoever . The only cause required to produce the positive effects is the expectation of positive results in the minds of the patients. There are certainly exceptions to this, of course. Anesthesia drugs do not appear to require the active mental participation of patients in order to function as expected. Likewise, there are certainly nutrients such as vitamin D that function in a certain way in the human body regardless of whether a person “believes” in vitamin D. The real question, you see, is what happens at the intersection of molecular biology and the expectation of the mind? Modern medical science has near-zero knowledge on that subject because it has denied the existence of the mind. Most so-called “skeptics,” for example, do not believe there is such a thing as the mind. Humans are merely biological robots, they say, and brains are mere molecular machines that carry out deterministic actions based purely on the laws of chemistry and physics. The mind, they insist, does not exist. No wonder their clinical trials fail to take the mind into account. And that is why their clinical trials are now revealed as medical self delusion . They thought their drugs were working, but it turns out it was the patients’ minds that delivered the results. The great censorship of the power of the mind But don’t expect the conventional medical industry to acknowledge any of this. In order to continue its charade of “scientifically validated pharmaceuticals,” the industry must desperately seek to pretend that the mind has nothing whatsoever to do with clinical trials. That is why the pharmaceutical industry is trying to deny the existence of the mind . It’s why medical journals are reluctant to publish studies that invoke the power of the mind, and it’s why medical schools refuse to teach medical students about mind-body medicine. The placebo effect — perhaps the single most powerful tool for healing — is utterly discarded as worthless by the entire medical profession! The mind is so powerful that it can render drugs obsolete. When doctors truly understand and are able to harness the power of the mind, they won’t need routine pharmaceuticals . They will only need to empower patients with the factually correct belief that they have the power to heal within them, and chemical drugs have only been symbolic metaphorical chemicals that allowed the mind to believe healing was taking place. This is a cultural issue , of course. The culture of our modern world is one of reductionism. Western science refutes the power of the mind and denies individuals the power to heal. Healing must come from external intervention, we are taught: through chemicals, radiation or surgery. In a parallel world, with the exact same biology, consciousness and environment, another race of human-like creatures might have chosen a different path — the path of patient empowerment where doctors are mere guides who teach patients how to heal themselves. Healing is a personal art, done from the inside out, not through dangerous chemical interventions. All that is necessary for this parallel world to become a reality is a shift in the beliefs of the people . When society accepts as real the power of the mind, it suddenly becomes believable to the weak-minded masses who always look to figures of authority to tell them what’s real. But the deeper truth of the matter is that what’s real is what you make real . Your mind, all by itself, can alter your physiology, neutralize toxic drugs, halt pain and probably even achieve other seemingly miraculous feats such as re-growing lost limbs. What’s necessary to get there isn’t technology but rather belief in the ability of the mind to shape the outcome of the body. It is especially fascinating that this is no longer merely new age talk: It is the scientifically validated conclusion of rigorous studies involving patient expectations. Now, the interaction of the body and the mind IS the new science!

General Mills imitation blueberries story keeps spreading; Total cereal exposed as deceptive

(NaturalNews) It’s the story that just keeps going viral. We broke it here on NaturalNews with the release of The Blueberry Deception , a mini documentary that exposed the truth about many name-brand food products that fake their blueberries. You can watch it here: http://naturalnews.tv/v.asp?v=7EC06D27B1A945BE85E7DA8483025962 It’s also featured over at www.FoodInvestigations.com Since the release of this video, it has gone viral across the ‘net and picked up hundreds of thousands of views across NaturalNews.TV and YouTube while also breaking into mainstream media . To date, all the following news organizations have now covered this story: Fox News, CNN, The Huffington Post, NPR, MSN, Yahoo News, LA Times, CBS News, NY Daily News and many more. Just two days ago, I was contacted by a reporter from CBS News who was working up a story for CBS News Correspondent Susan Koeppen (http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2011/02/03/earlyshow/contributors/susankoeppen/main7313579.shtml), who even went into a grocery store and filmed a segment talking about the very products I first mentioned in my documentary: Kellogg’s Frosted Mini Wheats Blueberry Muffin, for example, which is made with artificial colors, sugars and oils that mimic the appearance of blueberries. (Kellogg’s says the “Blueberry Muffin” part of the product name is just a description of the “flavor,” not a description of what’s actually in the box.) I didn’t get name credit in this particular story, but CBS News was kind enough to link back to the Consumer Wellness Center (www.ConsumerWellness.org), and that’s all the credit we really need. I’m just happy this story is getting out there. Kudos to the mainstream media outlets who have been covering this story! What’s really interesting is that CBS’s Koeppen has now hinted that this issue is headed to the FDA for review: “Koeppen added the Food and Drug Administration will go after companies if they use deceptive labeling. ‘We talked to them yesterday,’ Koeppen said. ‘They said they can neither confirm nor deny that they’re looking into the fake blueberry issue. But yes, if there is something that is deceptive, the FDA sometimes steps in and makes those companies change their labels.’” Wouldn’t it be interesting of a documentary developed right here at NaturalNews actually ended up rattling the desks of folks at the FDA and General Mills who were forced by public pressure to put a stop to some rather blatantly deceptive processed food marketing practices? The story behind the blueberries story I created this documentary as a volunteer effort under the non-profit Consumer Wellness Center, and have never received any compensation for creating this, by the way (nor do I receive any compensation for any of the videos I create). To this day, I’m shocked that nobody else did this first. I always thought that with such a deceptively labeled product on store shelves, somebody at USA Today, or the NY Times, or the Washington Post would investigate the issue and expose it long before we could. But no. The mainstream media doesn’t really do as much truly investigative journalism as it used to back in the Nixon days. Much of the media today, let’s face it, is focused on entertainment. Explosions. Violence. Teen rock stars. Michael Jackson. It’s junk food for your mind, or at least that’s how it was described to me by a reporter who actually works for the media. To actually see the media dig into a grassroots consumer issue and go up against the processed food industry is quite rare. Hence the need for organizations like NaturalNews. We tackle the stories the mainstream media often ignores. And we do it on a shoestring budget, yet based on solid research, reliable documentation of the facts, and an ever-growing audience of literally millions of readers who are increasingly tuning in to NaturalNews to get health information they can trust. I’m not saying the mainstream media can’t be trusted, but there’s little question that when your network is funded by pharmaceutical money, any story that questions the safety of vaccines (for example), is going to be canned long before it hits the air. But here at NaturalNews, I have no boss . YOU are my boss, effectively, and I can’t be fired by anyone for telling the truth. We only answer to you, the readers, and that’s why you consistently find us reporting the truth, day after day, without any corporate agenda interfering with our work. What will General Mills and Kellogg’s do now? What’s interesting is that now, all of a sudden, the mainstream media is following some of our stories. NaturalNews is driving these stories that end up being replicated across the national media. I have over a dozen emails right now from reporters in major newspapers across the country who want a heads up on our next breaking food investigation story. Think about that for a minute: The consumer health advocate (Health Ranger) that the mainstream media has largely ignored is now all of a sudden one of their sources. So now, I’m walking through the grocery store, and I’m using all the knowledge I’ve gathered over the years to identify all the really crazy chemicals and non-food items being put into the food supply by companies all the way from PepsiCo to Dean Foods. And now I’m making a list of which items are the worst offenders and deserve to be highlighted in the next Food Investigations mini-documentary. Because, of course, there are more mini-documentaries coming soon, and you’ll see them posted at www.FoodInvestigations.com This has put me in the sad, sad situation of actually buying PepsiCo products at the grocery store. But it’s all for research, I assure you. Still, it feels odd to even allow such items into my grocery cart, much less my home! Meanwhile, I haven’t heard a thing from General Mills or Kellogg’s on the imitation blueberries issue. You would think that if these folks had a decent P.R. team, they would reach out and try to “educate” me about their foods and convince me they’re not all that bad after all. But I haven’t heard a thing. I suppose they’re convinced it’s better to just try to ignore this imitation blueberries problem and hope it goes away. But it’s not going away. If anything, the story is spreading and getting more attention. Watch the hilarious new video: General Mills Mind Games And now it’s going to get even more viral with the release of a new comedy video I’ve just put together called General Mills Mind Games . It’s a character voice skit between a customer named “Bob” and the General Mills customer service department. Watch the video now (just 4 minutes) at: http://naturalnews.tv/v.asp?v=851519FA1AC72A56F7205D2285CC66CF Please share this video, too, because people need to know this stuff. Entertaining videos really works to educate people while they’re laughing and having fun! Everybody who has seen this 4-minute video loves it! Well, except perhaps for the General Mills public relations team, which appears to be frozen in place on this whole issue, sort of like a deer caught in the headlights. But I guess if you’re a P.R. lackey working for General Mills, the truth about what’s NOT in their cereals kinda sucks, doesn’t it? You can’t exactly spin away the simple truth that the fruits mentioned prominently on the front label of Total Blueberry Pomegranate Cereal aren’t even found in the cereal. I would sure hate to have that job. It’s way more fun to have no boss and be able to tell the truth rather than have to lie for some dishonest corporate employer.

U.S. government commits avian holocaust with mass poisoning of millions of birds

(NaturalNews) The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is engaged in what can only be called an avian holocaust through its Bye Bye Blackbird program that has poisoned tens of millions of birds over the last decade. The USDA even reports the number of birds it has poisoned to death in a PDF document posted on the USDA website. Anticipating the USDA possibly removing that document, we have posted a copy on NaturalNews servers at: http://www.naturalnews.com/files/USDA-Bye-Bye-Blackbird.pdf The original source URL of this file was: http://www.aphis.usda.gov/wildlife_damage/prog_data/2009_prog_data/PDR_G_FY09/Basic_Tables_PDR_G/Table_G_FY2009_Short.pdf This document shows that, just in 2009, the following bird populations were poisoned and killed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, using taxpayer dollars: (Listed as “Intentional” and “Killed / Euthanized”) Brown-headed cowbirds: 1,046,109 European Starlings: 1,259,714 Red-winged blackbirds: 965,889 Canadian geese: 24,519 Grackles: 93,210 Pigeons: 96,297 …plus tens of thousands of crows, doves, ducks, falcons, finches, gulls, hawks, herons, owls, ravens, sparrows, swallows, swans, turkeys, vultures and woodpeckers, among other animals. The chart even shows that the USDA “unintentionally” euthanized one Bald Eagle. Also murdered in 2009 by the USDA are victims of other species: 27,000 beavers, 1700 bobcats, 81,000 coyotes, 2,000 gray foxes, 336 mountain lions, 1900 woodchucks, 130 porcupines, 12,000 raccoons, 20,000 squirrels, 30,000 wild pigs, 478 wolves. See the list yourself at: http://www.naturalnews.com/files/USDA-Bye-Bye-Blackbird.pdf The mass-murdering U.S. government that disavows violence? Keep in mind that murdering animals is an act of violence . Yet in the wake of the recent Giffords shooting, we have U.S. government officials running around screaming about how much they disavow violence, saying things like “violence should never be used to resolve problems.” But their actions say something different: Violence against non-human life forms is not only tolerated and approved by the federal government, but even encouraged . Through these mass killings of birds, cougars, ducks and other animals, the United States federal government is actively engaged in widespread acts of violence against nature , murdering literally millions of animals on an annual basis. Keep in mind that the numbers shown above are only for 2009. A similar number of animals were killed by the USDA all the other years, too, going all the way back to the 1960′s when the “Bye Bye Blackbird” program was first initiated. By my estimates, the USDA has actively murdered at least 100 million animals in America over the last four decades, putting this on the scale of an animal holocaust and a crime against nature. Don’t speak of crosshairs or straight shooting In the politically correct language-muzzled aftermath of the Giffords shooting, the mere mention of the term “crosshairs” is enough to evoke an on-air apology on network news programs. Now you can’t say someone is a “straight shooter,” either. But if you work for the USDA, you can murder animals by the tens of millions and virtually no network news outlet even covers the story . It’s not enough, apparently, that humans have already caused widespread destruction of animal habitat across North America; now our own government is actively murdering literally millions of animals every year. And for what? What is the justification for these actions? According to the USA, these animals are a “nuisance” to farmers. When is it okay to kill an animal? I have great admiration for farmers, and I understand that there are times when predators can get out of control and cause a lot of damage. Coyotes can get into the chicken coop and kill your chickens, so on most farms and ranches, coyotes are considered live target practice at every opportunity. That’s why nearly all U.S. ranchers own rifles as tools which are used for sniping at groundhogs and moles which tend to take more than their fair share of garden vegetables. I know one rancher who was trying to plant an orchard and woke up one morning to find his newly planted trees had all been destroyed by a small band of hyperactive beavers. Needless to say, those beavers ended up right in the crosshairs of a utility 22 rifle. I also understand that wild pigs (feral swine) can root up valuable crops in their search for food. There are times when certain types of animals can become very difficult for ranchers and farmers to deal with. Although I personally don’t enjoy the thought of it, I can at least understand that there might be an economic justification in the minds of farmers and ranchers to kill certain animals which are destroying their crops (or chickens, or orchards). I’ve never met a farmer or rancher who simply killed animals for the fun of it. The ammo is too expensive, and farmers don’t have that kind of time to waste in the first place. Most farmers, by the way, have a very high respect for life and only kill when they feel they have no available alternative. But since when did sparrows, starlings and blackbirds ever pose a real threat to anyone? They’re not going to fly off with your cow, and to blame these birds for eating the grain being fed to the cows is ridiculous in the first place because cows aren’t supposed to eat grain . Cows are supposed to eat grass. If you are running a cow operation where the birds are eating your grain and you think the birds are the problem, the real problem is that you’re feeding cows the wrong food! If you raise your cows on grass, the birds don’t get into the grain and you don’t have to poison the birds. You see, when one ecological element gets out of balance (feeding grain to cows, for example), it then causes another problem that must be dealt with in some other destructive way (such as poisoning the birds). This cycle of disharmony continues and escalates until entire ecosystems are out of whack. Then the USDA shows up with a pickup truck full of poison bait and goes to work poisoning animals. The solution isn’t to keep poisoning animals and trying to control populations through toxic chemicals but rather to return to holistic web-of-life farming methods that work in harmony with nature rather than treating nature as the enemy. Then again, we are talking about the U.S. Department of Agriculture here. And while the USDA has a great number of truly useful programs (such as their USDA organic label, which is a high-integrity program), the agency as a whole remains steeped in the conventional agricultural mythology of pesticides, GMOs and “poisoning varmints.” How the federal government is abusing your tax dollars All of this really makes me wonder about the whole argument of Big Government versus small government. The argument of those who say we should all pay our taxes is that the government needs your money to “build roads and schools.” What they don’t bother to mention is that the government is also using your money in very destructive ways, too, such as poisoning animals and pushing GMOs into European nations (http://www.naturalnews.com/030828_GMOs_Wikileaks.html). Personally, I am ethically and morally opposed to my money being used for such destructive purposes. And even though I continue to pay my taxes, I do so under strong protest to the reality that my own government is committing an avian holocaust — a crime against nature — with the help of the dollars I reluctantly send to Washington. The very thought of it makes me sick. I would be more than happy to contribute money to actually building schools and roads. But to see my hard-earned dollars used by the USDA to murder innocent animals is extremely offensive, and it is a violation of my own ethics and principles. My main purpose in serving as the editor of NaturalNews.com has been to protect life . And in my mind, that protection extends beyond human life. I believe we also have a reasonable obligation to protect the life of the animals around us — and the very ecosystems upon which we ultimately depend. Although I can understand certain rare cases in which eliminating an animal may be the only logical choice for a farmer who is losing his crops and whose livelihood is at stake, it seems that the current killing of animals by the USDA is wildly indiscriminate and lacks proper moral or even economic justification. Poisoning the humans, too? It also brings up the bigger question that I posed in a previous article on this topic: If the U.S. government thinks nothing of murdering tens of millions of birds and mammals who have become a “nuisance,” then what happens when the human population becomes “too large” and needs to be controlled, too? Will they simply feed us poison and hope we die off like the birds? I might suggest that program is already under way. It’s called water fluoridation. Food additives. Vaccines. Pharmaceuticals. And the government doesn’t call it murder, by the way. They refer to it as “euthanasia.” The only difference is they’re killing the humans more slowly.

Why most natural disasters aren’t natural at all

(NaturalNews) From the point of view of many humans, the term “natural disaster” is a convenient scapegoat because it allow a person (or a whole nation) to blame nature for their own poor planning. Wherever we find so-called “natural disasters” around the world (such as Brazil at the moment), we also usually find a large group of people who have cut down the forests that buffer rainfall, paved over the grasslands that allow rain to soak into the soil, and built their homes right in the middle of gullies and natural drainage channels. When the floods come, they look to the sky and curse Mother Nature, shouting, “We got hit by a natural disaster!” Of course, in some cases it really is a natural disaster. When a volcano blows and causes widespread destruction beyond what anyone could have reasonably foreseen — such as Mt St Helens in the 1980′s — that’s a legitimate natural disaster. When an under-the-ocean earthquake causes a fifty-foot tsunami that wipes out a beach town, that’s a legitimate natural disaster, too. When a large meteorite slams into the planet with the force of millions of atomic bombs, laying waste to an entire era of unique lifeforms (the dinosaurs, for example), that’s a natural disaster. But getting wiped out by a flood because you built your house right in the flood path of a local river is not a natural disaster. That’s a man-made disaster. Or, more accurately, it’s just poor planning on the part of short-sighted humans. And when it comes to disasters, there’s plenty of short-sightedness to go around these days. Poor planning When I lived in Ecuador, I witnessed all sorts of homes being built right in the drainage pathways and low-lying flood zones of rivers with a known history of flooding. Even back in the United States, the federal government actually encourages people to build homes in flood zones and hurricane zones by offering “federal flood insurance” which is for the most part a way for the taxpayers to subsidize the risk of those who live in homes that never should have been built in those areas in the first place. The entire fiasco of rebuilding the low-lying regions of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina is a perfect example of mankind just begging to be hit with yet another “natural disaster.” It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that some time in the next 50 years, a category five hurricane is going to strike New Orleans yet again and reclaim the very same regions that technically belong under water as part of the Gulf of Mexico. (This is in no way meant to disparage the people of New Orleans, by the way, who are some of the most joyful and creative people you’ll ever meet. Great folks. Sad geologic situation, however. You can’t fight geology for long…) Forest fires should never be a surprise The most striking example of so-called “natural disasters” is when people build their homes in a giant forest, surrounded by trees, and then they seem surprised when those trees catch on fire and burn their homes to the ground. Did they really think that trees never burn? Do people honestly buy multi-million dollar homes in California and think that their homes will somehow be magically immune to the forest fires that inevitably sweep through all forests? I don’t mean to make light of the loss of property and the human suffering that occurs during such events, but wouldn’t all that loss have been prevented if they thought more carefully about the situation in the first place? Even the news gets it wrong. They’ll report things like, “The fire caused over $200 million in property damage…” Well, not exactly. The forest fire burned where it has always burned, every few decades, for probably tens of thousands of years. Fires are, in fact, crucial for the healthy functioning of forest ecosystems . And until humans started building homes in forest fire zones, those fires never caused any so-called “property damage.” So why is the fire to blame for destroying homes? Because people built their homes right where the fires burn every few decades! Once you realize that, you can’t really blame the fire for destroying the homes. It’s not the fault of the fire. People shouldn’t build homes in forest fire zones. See, when I look at a forest as a potential home site, the very first thing that comes to my mind is, “Sooner or later, these trees are going to burn.” It’s a natural cycle caused by lightning combined with a dry season that follows a wet growing season that produces lots of underbrush “fuel.” All it takes is one lightning strike to light it up, and from there the laws of chemistry take over. When poor planning collides with natural repeating cycles Most “natural” disasters are actually caused by poor human planning. Generally speaking, people don’t have a very long-term view of things. They don’t consider that the little creek running behind their new home could very easily wind up meandering through their living room after record rainfall. The cattle rancher who buys 500 acres of forest and then clear-cuts the trees to make room for cattle grazing (Brazil, anyone?) doesn’t usually consider the fact that they have now removed the rainfall / water buffer zone that protected their lands from floods and erosion. Even professional city engineers often aren’t very bright about all this: They’ll design cities with enormous areas of pavement and roads, all while failing to properly consider the fact that what used to be dirt which once absorbed water is now concrete that channels water somewhere else. It doesn’t take much rain for a city of pavement to become a flash flood nightmare. Stop blaming nature for poor human planning It’s inappropriate for people to use the term “natural disaster” to refer to poor planning on the part of humans. Instead of blaming themselves for building their homes right in the middle of a flash flood zone, too many people blame nature (or God). “Why does God punish us by destroying our home?” they cry. Maybe God was actually sending them an important message: “Don’t build your home in a flood zone.” Not all floods are the fault of the people affected by them, of course. There are huge floods happening right now in Brisbane, Australia. I haven’t studied the underlying cause of these floods, but they seem completely out of character for the region there. In that case, it means the victims of the floods in Brisbane are suffering through no fault of their own but rather as a result of some destructive global influences on the planet’s weather systems. Still, now that Brisbane has seen the potential for flooding, watch in amazement over the next twelve months as many Australians rebuild homes right back in the same exact locations devastated by this flood . It’s not a characteristic of good planning. (And it’s not unique to Australians, of course. This happens everywhere in the world, it seems, where people live.) What “natural disasters” are coming next due to poor human planning? Here are some of the “natural disasters” I predict will strike our world in the near future. They’ll be blamed on nature, but the real cause is found in human behavior: • It won’t be too long before our food crops suffer a genetic pollution disaster due to the widespread use of GMOs. Amid global starvation, the GMO scientists will exclaim, “There’s no way we could have foreseen this!” Oh yeah? We warned ya! • The massive life extinction event occurring right now on our planet will ultimately be traced largely to the mass chemical contamination of the world with pharmaceuticals, industrial chemicals, food additives and synthetic chemicals in consumer products. Already, the bird and fish die-offs are being called “natural” by conventional scientists who don’t see what’s really happening. • The next great dust bowl will strike within twenty years as abused, over-farmed soils continue to erode, transforming many food-producing regions of the world into food deserts (deserts as in sand, not desserts as in cherry pie). Instead of blaming destructive farming practices, scientists will blame the weather. • The global use of fossil water — especially in India — will soon meet a geologic limit, causing widespread drought and desertification. This, too, will be blamed on a “natural” disaster (dry spells). • The massive loss of food pollinators will accelerate, ultimately leading to emergency shortages of pollinators and a detrimental impact on the global food supply. Instead of blaming this on the most likely culprits (GMOs and pesticides), conventional scientists will try to blame viruses or weather events. … and this list goes on… and on… while humans continue to blame nature instead of looking at the real source of these problems: Ignorant “scientific” progress and boundless human expansion! Maybe instead of blaming floods, fires and crop failures on Mother Nature (or God), human beings should take responsibility for the impact of their own actions , both individually and collectively. How to prevent many so-called natural disasters So how can we avoid these “natural disasters” on a personal level? It’s easier than you think: Be mindful of the world around you. Be aware of your impact on the world around you and the fact that you are connected with the world around you. Everything we do to world around us, whether destructive or creative, will eventually be reflected in that world. And especially be wary of contaminating the planet, destroying natural habitat or attempting to alter the natural cycles of nature. The best way to avoid natural disasters is to learn to live in greater harmony with the nature world , respecting its natural cycles of “destruction” which are actually crucial to life on Earth. As one more quick example, consider large hydroelectric dams and the issue of flooding. Arrogant scientists and engineers promised that such dams would end floods downstream, produce clean energy and lead to a healthier world. They were wrong: By stopping the floods, dams directly interfere with the normal life cycle of virtually all the animals that live downstream. And by halting flooding, they deny the croplands on the banks of the rivers the nutritional replenishment they need to grow healthful, mineral-rich crops. Much the same is true with forest fires. Humans desperately and ignorantly attempt to extinguish such fires, thereby preserving the forest floor “fuel” that one day ignites into a much stronger blaze that, instead of invigorating the forest, kills it dead. Just look at the history of Yellowstone National Park. It was all the decades of extinguishing fires there that led to the devastating, tree-killing fire of 1988. Human arrogance at work yet again, thinking that every time a fire or flood occurs, it’s a “natural disaster” that must be halted through human intervention. The upshot is that many “natural disasters” are really only disasters from the point of view of people who don’t respect nature in the first place.

A new measure of intelligence: Big-picture thinking trumps narrow-minded expertise

(NaturalNews) Observing the various realms of science, medicine, experts and world events, I’ve come to the conclusion that our modern definition of “intelligence” (IQ) is seriously lacking. The label of “high IQ” is typically assigned to those who are experts in narrowly-defined fields such as disease pathology, pharmacology, particle physics, mathematics or other so-called “hard science” areas. And yet, it’s not uncommon to see a high-level mathematics professor with an IQ of 175 chowing down on a processed hamburger laced with toxic chemical additives, while wearing clothes washed in carcinogenic mainstream laundry detergent. The professor may be brilliant in mathematics, in other words, but he’s unknowingly bathing his entire body in cancer-causing chemicals at the same time. Not too bright. Similarly, a typical conventional doctor thinks he knows about health, but he buys breakfast cereals made with genetically modified corn and doesn’t even know that GMOs are bad for your health. A quantum physics professor wears antiperspirant deodorant and cologne products that contain powerful cancer-causing chemicals that are absorbed right through the skin. A pharmacist who is an expert in the world of drugs and synthetic chemicals has no clue that the common mineral zinc is crucial for proper immune function. Highly-intelligent architects for some reason don’t question the collapse of the WTC 7 building on 9/11 even though the official explanation of the collapse violates the laws of physics (a subject in which architects are well-versed). Chemists don’t consider the chemistry of the toxic shampoos they put on their hair every day. Nor do many scientists think realistically about the toxicity of mercury fillings or the fluorosilicic acid (“fluoride”) dumped into the public water supply. I could go on… The point of all this is that there exists a huge gap in practical intelligence among the so-called “smartest” people in our society . I’ve spoken with countless doctors and conventional health care providers who are brilliant in their own fields and yet don’t even know the basics of nutrition. So how can it be that a guy is so smart he can be the world’s best brain surgeon, but when he goes home at night, he bathes his own brain and body in a sea of toxic chemicals consumed as additives in his processed food dinner? Most people can’t assimilate the big picture What’s lacking in these so-called “smart” people is the ability to see the bigger picture by assimilating information from a large number of seemingly unrelated sources. Or, stated in another way, even some of the most high-IQ people around can’t see the big picture because they get lost in the details. Your typical oncologist, for example, almost certainly can’t hold an intelligent conversation about nutritional therapies to support immune function because he only thinks of antioxidants as “interfering” with the toxicity of his cancer poisons. Likewise, a typical virologist persistently looks at viruses as the cause of disease but forgets that viruses are opportunists which can only propagate when the terrain is sufficiently vulnerable. Thus, the best defense against invading microorganism is to change the terrain (the person being infected) rather than to try to rid the immediate area of all viruses. Memorization is not intelligence See, the very concept of “intelligence” in our society is way off the mark. It isn’t intelligent to be able to memorize and regurgitate a huge number of facts and figures, yet this is precisely the measure of academic aptitude assessed in modern educational systems — especially in law school and medical school. To function as a crude human database of facts and figures is not very useful in an age where handheld computers and mobile computing devices can do the same thing. But what computers and search engines can’t accomplish — something that is uniquely reserved for intelligent species — is the ability to assimilate information into a larger picture. It is, in other words, the ability to “connect the dots” and see patterns and trends in what might seem like chaos to others. My favorite physicist Richard Feynman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Feynman) was an especially gifted pattern assimilator . He was able to look far beyond the conventional boundaries of particle physics and grasp many of the non-intuitive interconnections between matter, energy and the nature of reality itself. On a more practical level, people like Gerald Celente and even Alex Jones are also phenomenally gifted pattern assimilators. It’s not that they are ridiculously good at remembering a lot of facts and figures in one very narrow area of science or knowledge; rather it’s the fact that these types of people are able to see patterns in world events and thereby interact with the world around them at a far higher level of understanding than most other people. Whereas a typical journalist sees a headline that says, “GMO restrictions called unscientific” and thinks it’s merely a story about how un-educated GMO opponents are, a more intelligent “pattern assimilator” person sees the same headline and understands the far deeper meaning it holds: That the GMO propaganda campaign is being framed in the language of “science” as a way to label reasonable opponents of GMOs as being somehow uneducated or stupid. But behind the fake science curtain, it’s really just gimmicky marketing and a profit-driven agenda. The pattern behind all that, of course, is the agenda to control the world’s food supply and, soon thereafter, charge monopoly prices for seeds (TM) that farmers used to be able to save for free. A few people are able to see the story behind the story . These people are the “meta-analyzers” of the world around them. They have what I call a “wide angle view” (a big picture view) where they can bring in observational data from a very large data set of observable events in order to infer greater understanding of the world around them. Here are just a few of the many pattern assimilators who are better known: Gerald Celente can see the big picture of world finance. He sees the signs of the slipping value of the dollar, the leveraged debt of world banks, the actions of the Fed, the Wall Street bailouts, the news propaganda from the financial sector, and so on — and from all that, he correctly infers that a global debt bubble is approaching catastrophic collapse. Many of his colleagues, on the other hand, even though they may achieve high scores on an IQ test, are scribbling away with their noses buried in the arcane mathematics of derivatives calculations, and they miss the big picture because their minds are too narrowly focused on a tiny slice of what’s really happening. When the big financial collapse comes, they will be caught with their pants down, holding their pencils in their hands. Author John Perkins is also another big-picture genius, in his own way, for being able to see the patterns of government actions on a global scaled. He’s the author of the popular book “Economic Hit Men” (and also “Hoodwinked”), and he sees patterns in the world that nearly everyone else misses. You can see my interview with Perkins, by the way, at: http://naturalnews.tv/v.asp?v=83B1AF93091799E7CEB88C5C459A530B On the nutrition front, Dr Richard Kunin is one of the most remarkable pattern assimilators you’ll ever find. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Kunin) Here’s a genius the world has largely overlooked. Alex Jones is one of the more astonishing assemblers of patterns out of chaos. His ability to see the underlying patterns behind world events is truly amazing, and whether you agree with his conclusions or not, his mind is able to amass an extraordinarily large amount of data from many sectors (health freedom, police state actions, legislative efforts and so on) and then identify patterns that most other people would miss. You can find Alex on www.PrisonPlanet.com Seeing the bigger picture doesn’t make you any more popular This list is by no means exhaustive. There are many genius-level pattern assimilators in our world. They are rarely recognized for their talents, however. If anything, those who “get” the big picture are often derided or criticized for doing so. Connecting too many dots, it seems, is dangerous for your reputation. Those who have the most success in the sciences (in particular), are the ones who keep their heads down and focus on their own tiny little corner of study without asking any of the really big questions like, “Hey, where did this grant money really come from?” I consider myself something of a pattern assimilator, as I see patterns from one area of knowledge often reflected in another. For example, if our global economy is like a world body, what would fit the definition of a cancer tumor engaged in angiogenesis? The answers is corporations , because corporations hijack their own supply of resources (much like cancer tumors build a new blood supply), then grow to a large and dangerous size at which point they begin to replicate and set up branch offices all over the world where the tumor cycle is repeated. And just like cancer tumors, corporations ultimately threaten the lives of their hosts. As an avid reader and student of human history, psychology and even quantum mechanics, I feel competent to discuss the history of philosophy as much as, say, the modern-day repeating of patterns of tyranny from World War II. The most promising and fascinating area of human discovery about to be achieved, in my opinion, relates to the superposition of quantum physics and human consciousness. This will result in a paradigm-shattering shift in understanding the nature of our reality, with ripple effects that resound throughout our modern world. Once Earth’s people come to realize, for example, that matter is consciousness (and that all consciousness is connected), the implications will require profound rethinking of things such as compassion for animals, religious beliefs and self identity. This is the really exciting stuff that’s headed our way. But we’ll never get to a higher understanding of consciousness if we remain “experts” limited to our tiny alcoves of knowledge. To really function as intelligent members of a race that has been advertised as “advanced,” we must expand not just the depth of our knowledge but the breadth of our understanding. And that, of course, means understanding the interconnectedness of our being-ness. It is the interconnectedness that really matters, quite literally (ahem). Let us hope that more members of the human species can learn to recognize the interconnectedness among not just people, plants and animals, but at another level the interconnectedness of mind, matter and energy, too. To gain understanding of this interconnectedness is — to paraphrase quite a number of scientists and philosophers from human history — to become closer to God. He who can see all interconnectedness in life and the cosmos is, of course, God Himself. To see and recognize the patterns in the reality we apparently inhabit is, in my view, the most important next step necessary for the advancement of human intelligence. Importantly, this advancement cannot come from the sciences alone. It must involve a so-called “quantum leap” in consciousness.

Monsanto voted Most Evil Corporation of the Year by NaturalNews readers

(NaturalNews) After taking nominations for the Most Evil Corporation of the Year survey from our readers, we hosted an online survey that allowed readers to vote on this question. Over 16,000 readers voted in our online survey from January 5 through 9, 2011. Astonishingly, fifty-one percent of all votes went to Monsanto as the Most Evil Corporation of the year. This means Monsanto wins the top prize by a huge margin. Taking second place was the Federal Reserve , with twenty percent of the votes. This is especially intriguing because it means that NaturalNews are well informed about the fact that the Federal Reserve is not a government entity but rather a corporate entity that serves the profit interests of the global banking cartel. The other corporations included in the survey (along with their vote results) are: British Petroleum 9% Halliburton 5% McDonalds 3% Pfizer 2% Merck 2% Wal-Mart 2% Nestle 1% Other 7% (Note: The total slightly exceeds 100% due to rounding on the part of the survey host.) Why is Monsanto considered so evil? The results of this survey beg the question: Why is Monsanto considered so evil, to the point where it garnered a full 51 percent of the vote? The first and most obvious answer to that question may be that people who dislike Monsanto tend to be NaturalNews readers. There is undoubtedly a self-selection trend in this survey. But even among those readers who are into natural health, green living, organic foods and the like, why would Monsanto stand out above British Petroleum, for example, which caused enormous damage to the Gulf Coast in 2010? The answer, I suspect, is that Monsanto behaves like an evil corporation that pretends to be angelic . The Monsanto website is an orgy of touchy-feely corporate spin that tries to position the company as the savior of life on planet Earth. For example, the Monsanto website hosts the “Monsanto pledge” which contains the following sickening claims: (http://www.monsanto.com/whoweare/Pages/monsanto-pledge.aspx) Integrity Integrity is the foundation for all that we do. Integrity includes honesty, decency, consistency, and courage. Sharing We will share knowledge and technology to advance scientific understanding, to improve agriculture and the environment, to improve crops, and to help farmers in developing countries. To anyone who knows anything about Monsanto, these words must strike them as particularly nauseous. For a company that thrives on GMO seeds and is an aggressive opponent of open-pollinated seeds to talk about “sharing knowledge” and “helping farmers” is enough to make you quite literally vomit. (Try to avoid splattering your keyboard.) Monsanto’s pledge continues: Respect We will respect the religious, cultural, and ethical concerns of people throughout the world. The safety of our employees, the communities where we operate, our customers, consumers, and the environment will be our highest priority. Given that Monsanto’s GMO crops are now linked to roughly 200,000 suicides of farmers and farm workers in India (http://www.naturalnews.com/030913_Monsanto_suicides.html), you really have to wonder where this “respecting the cultural concerns of people” line could possibly come from. A corporate mental patient Touring the official Monsanto website, in fact, is a lot like walking through the mind of a madman whose self delusion has reached the point of complete psychosis. Monsanto runs around the world operating much like a mental patient, albeit a mental patient with a tremendous amount of political clout and economic power. And to oppose Monsanto is to put yourself at great risk. Just ask all the politicians in France and across Europe who found themselves being added to a “retaliatory target list” that was assembled by the United States ambassador to France, working in conspiracy with the leaders of the GMO industry (http://www.naturalnews.com/030828_GMOs_Wikileaks.html). A lot of corporations are greedy (Goldman Sachs). Many are downright criminal (Big Pharma). But only a few corporations rise to the title of being considered truly and irreversibly evil . That’s where Monsanto apparently takes the top prize. Oh, and by the way, this isn’t the first time Monsanto has received top honors. Forbes Magazine gave Monsanto its “Company of the Year Award” in 2009. And that tells you just about everything you need to know about the values of Forbes Magazine, too. Never let planetary health stand in the way of a quarterly profit! I wish to thank NaturalNews readers for participating in this survey. Twelve top experts speak out about health, fitness and longevity

January 7, 2011 by

(NaturalNews) A little over two years ago, I was invited to be part of a content creation project involving over a dozen experts who teamed up to create what came to be called The People’s Guide to Health, Happiness and Longevity . The producer of the content was none other than Craig Pepin-Donat, who has since gone on to be a key partner in the DotFit platform (http://www.dotfit.com) which now drives some of the most popular online nutrition and fitness tracking websites in the world. I was talking with Craig the other day and asking about The People’s Guide course. I remembered it was a great course featuring two sets of audio CDs and a physical book authored by Craig called The Big Fat Health and Fitness Lie , which exposes dishonest fitness equipment, pharmaceuticals and “miracle” bodybuilding supplements. It turns out he still had a few hundred copies of the course on hand that were part of the final print run right before he got swept up into the DotFit success. So of course I asked if we might be able to make these available to YOU, the NaturalNews readers, at a ridiculously discounted price, because the interviews are really very, very good. In this course from 2008, you’ll hear interviews with Dr Joel Fuhrman, Dr Hyla Cass, Shane Ellison, Kevin Gianna, Dr Henry Lodge and even myself (the Health Ranger). There’s a wealth of information here, and it’s all on CD packaged in an attractive two-box CD set with a bonus book included. This was originally priced at $198, if I remember correctly. It was a very popular information set at the time, and the information it offers about health, longevity and fitness is essentially timeless . Today, this course is available through Truth Publishing for a fraction of its original price: We slashed it to $52 . That’s roughly a 74% discount off the original price, and it’s a bargain for the wealth of information it contains. You can pick it up at the Truth Publishing store: Click here to see it at TruthPublishing.com What’s in The People’s Guide This audio CD symposium is a collection of interviews with some of the top experts in the fields of natural health, fitness and longevity. Interviews include: Dr. Joel Fuhrman , author of Eat to Live . I’m deeply impressed with the depth of his knowledge about using plant-based nutrition to cure so-called “incurable” diseases. Dr. Fuhrman is at the top of my list of people to pay attention to this year, and his participation in The People’s Guide to Health, Happiness and Longevity is, all by itself, worth every penny of investment in your own health that’s needed to get your copy of this course. Kevin Gianni is an incredibly positive and well-informed raw foods and fitness expert. He’s helped train thousands of people to achieve seemingly impossible fitness goals, and he combines it with a depth of knowledge of plant-based nutrition that’s almost unheard of in the fitness industry, even among gym junkies and fitness “gurus.” I’ve known Kevin for nearly two years, and I come to know him as an infectiously positive, upbeat and highly motivating teacher on both nutrition and fitness. His contribution to this People’s Guide to Health, Happiness and Longevity is a phenomenal interview that you’ll want to listen to several times. Debra Lynn Dadd , author of Home Safe Home and an expert on the toxicity of everyday products in the home, kitchen, bathroom, garden and garage. I also know Debra as a friend and colleague, and I can tell you that Debra’s information is absolutely vital for anyone wishing to avoid cancer (and respiratory diseases) and live in a healthy, non-toxic environment. Don’t even think of using another home cleaning product or personal care product until you learn what Debra has to say about chemicals in your home. Dr. Hyla Cass , author of Supplement Your Prescription , is one of the best-informed doctors on nutrition and phytochemicals that I’ve ever met. I met Dr. Cass at a recent trade show, and when we chatted, I was immediately impressed with the depth of her knowledge. I then picked up her book and read it cover to cover, absorbing one valuable fact after another. I’ve since become a great fan of Dr. Cass and hope to interview her on NaturalNews in the very near future. Other experts included in the course are: • Shane Ellison (“The People’s Chemist”) – Expert on reversing diabetes • Kim Lyons, superstar personal trainer for NBC’s “The Biggest Loser” show • Dr. Adam Shafran (“Dr. Fitness”) – Expert on weight loss • Chris Crowley, author of Younger Next Year • Laura Lewis, a “Life Change Expert” • Dr. Henry Lodge, co-author of Younger Next Year for Women: A Guide to Living Like Your 50 Until You’re 80 and Beyond … in all, it’s a combination of 12 of the healthiest and best-informed people on the planet for achieving remarkable new levels in personal health and fitness. I had to dig through hundreds of health books to find the most important answers about health and fitness, and that took literally thousands of hours. I’m not saying that this twelve-hour audio seminar is a complete replacement for reading 500 health books, but I have discovered that the most important concepts are all presented in these twelve interviews . If you listen, learn and apply the concepts you’ll learn in these twelve focused hours, you will have learned the most important principles outlined in those 500 books I painstakingly read. That’s because sometimes truly powerful information can be presented in a succinct, information-rich format (and a lot of what’s said in the top health books overlaps information from other health books). Why investing in your health is the best money you’ll ever spend I’ve always believed that investing in your health is the best investment a person can ever make. That’s why I personally spend so much money on nutritional supplements, superfoods, high-quality kitchen equipment and extreme exercise equipment (I have a high-end Pilates Reformer in my living room, and I have a full-size treadmill, a vibration board, an inversion machine, a set of Russian kettlebells, and much more… all sitting in my house where a typical family might put a couch and television set). Since food and exercise are the foundation of quality of life, I put the bulk of my earnings into exactly those things: Nutrition and exercise! But before you start making those investments in the best nutrition and exercise products that will have the greatest positive impact on your health, it’s important to know what works. In other words, where is the best place to spend your hard-earned cash? What’s the best direction to take in achieving that next level of physical fitness, disease reversal or peak human performance in your own life? That’s where The People’s Guide to Healthy, Happiness and Longevity becomes truly essential. Listening to it is like being given a secret treasure map to health and fitness. It’s a set of instructions, guidelines, strategies and tips for getting the greatest results with the least amount of investment in terms of time, money and effort. It’s like being handed the user manual for a new, healthier YOU! And that’s why I think it’s so valuable. How to open doors to curing “incurable” disease Today, I know that virtually every major disease that plagues society today is curable: cancer, diabetes, heart disease, depression, Alzheimer’s, osteoporosis and many more. I also know that you can achieve a level of human performance that most people can only dream about — both in terms of physical fitness and mental performance. Over the last several years, I’ve learned a wealth of invaluable knowledge about what it really takes to be in the top 1% of the top 1% of the healthiest people in the world, and in reality it all boils down to a few simple principles. It is those principles that are explored and described in this course, through the perspective of twelve different experts, each of whom has a slightly different approach to telling the truth about health that can set you free — and set you on a new course for the rest of your life. If you’re like most NaturalNews readers, you’ve already taken steps to improve your health, and yet you’d still probably like to learn how to multiply your successes and accelerate the achievement of your desired results . That’s what this course can help you accomplish. It can open you up to a universe of new possibilities and trigger your mind to embark on new pathways that end up being remarkable shortcuts, leading you directly to the results you’ve always wanted to achieve. Today, with the expert knowledge and experience of these twelve highly entertaining and informative experts, you’ll have the missing pieces of that puzzle firmly in hand, and you’ll be able to leap to the next level of personal health and life enhancement, all by just listening, learning and applying the discoveries waiting for you in this course. Ten food safety lies they didn’t tell you about with Senate Bill 510

(NaturalNews) The Food Safety Modernization Act looks like it’s headed to become law. It’s being hailed as a “breakthrough” achievement in food safety, and it would hand vast new powers and funding to the FDA so that it can clean up the food supply and protect all Americans from food-borne pathogens. There’s just one problem with all this: It’s all a big lie . Here are the ten biggest lies that have been promoted about S.510 by the U.S. Congress, the food industry giants and the mainstream media: Lie #1 – Most deaths from food poisoning are caused by fresh produce Here’s a whopper the mainstream media won’t dare report: Out of the 1,809 people who die in America every year from food-borne pathogens (CDC estimate), only a fraction die from the manufacturer’s contamination of fresh produce. By far the majority of food poisoning is caused by the consumption of spoiled processed foods , dead foods and animal-human transmission of pathogens. For example, one of the largest food-borne killers according to the CDC is Toxoplasma gondii , a disease that people acquire from cat feces coming into contact with their food, which can happen right in their own homes (http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/eid/Vol5no5/mead.htm#Table%203). Salmonella poisoning accounts for 553 deaths a year . As a reference for relative risk, over 42,000 people die each year from road accidents in the USA, meaning driving a car has a roughly 7600% higher chance of killing you than eating fresh produce. (http://www.driveandstayalive.com/info%20section/statistics/stats-multicountry-percapita-2003.htm) In terms of food-borne illness, many of the deaths come from things like spoiled tomato sauce, spoiled canned foods and spoiled pasteurized milk. S 510, of course, does absolutely nothing to address these food contamination deaths, since those foods are considered “sterilized” at the time of sale. Lie #2 – Under S.510, the FDA would only recall products it knows to be contaminated Not true. S.510 merely requires the FDA to have ” reason to believe ” a food is contaminated. So right there, that means all raw milk will be targeted by the FDA because even without conducting any scientific tests at all, the FDA can say it has “reason to believe” the milk is contaminated merely because it is raw . In other words, the FDA no longer needs science to outlaw a food product. It merely needs an opinion. Is this “reason to believe” section really true? Yep, and here’s how it was amended: SEC. 208. ADMINISTRATIVE DETENTION OF FOOD. 23 (a) IN GENERAL. – Section 304(h)(1)(A) (21 U.S.C.24 334(h)(1)(A)) is amended by (1) striking ”credible evidence or information indicating” and inserting ”reason to believe”; (http://frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi-bin/getdoc.cgi?dbname=111_cong_bills&docid=f:s510rs.txt.pdf) In other words, in negotiating this bill, the U.S. Senate removed the requirement that the FDA needed “credible evidence” in order to recall a product and, instead, replaced that with the FDA only needing “reason to believe.” It is utterly amazing that the U.S. Congress would give the FDA to conduct large-scale product recalls and even imprison people based entirely on what the agency “has reason to believe.” Last time I checked, the FDA held some pretty bizarre (if not downright moronic) beliefs, including this jaw-dropping whopper: The FDA literally believes that there is no food, no herb, no vitamin or supplement that has any ability to prevent disease of any kind . They don’t even believe limes can prevent scurvy, and you’d have to nutritionally illiterate to believe that. The FDA believes foods are inert and that all the amazing phytonutrients in those foods (carotenoids, antioxidants, therapeutic fats like omega-3 and so on) are utterly useless for human biology. This belief, held by the FDA that has now been put in charge of the food supply, is the belief system of an insane government agency that has completely lost touch with reality while abandoning nutritional science. Lie #3 – They didn’t tell you that nearly 70% of grocery store chickens are contaminated with salmonella every day Yep, it’s true: Amid all the fear-mongering over salmonella, everybody forgot to notice that the vast majority of fresh chickens sold at grocery stores every single day are widely contaminated with salmonella (http://www.naturalnews.com/028661_chickens_salmonella.html). Yet S 510 does absolutely nothing to address this. It’s not even mentioned in the bill. In fact, it is these contaminated chickens that end up cross-contaminating the fresh produce in many kitchens across America. So the so-called “food poisoning” that’s often blamed on spinach or onions often originates with the contaminated chicken meat people bring home and slice on their kitchen cutting boards. Lie #4 – S.510 will exclude and protect small farmers The Tester Amendment , which was finally included in S.510, excludes farmers who sell less than $500,000 worth of food each year from the more onerous paperwork and compliance burdens described in the bill. But this dollar amount is not indexed to inflation , meaning that as the U.S. dollar continues to lose value due to the Federal Reserve counterfeiting machine running at full speed (more “quantitative easing,” anyone?), food prices will continue to skyrocket — and this will shift even small family farms into the $500,000 sales range within just a few years. In fact, a single-family farm with just four people could easily sell $500,000 worth of fresh produce a year right now, even before inflation. Remember, $500,000 is not their profit, but rather the gross sales amount. The profits on that might be only $50,000 or even less. Furthermore, this $500,000 threshold means that small, successful farms that are doing well and would like to expand will refuse to hire more people or expand their operations. To avoid the tyranny of S 510, small farms will try to stay small, and that means avoiding the kind of business expansion that would create new jobs. Lie #5 – The FDA needs more power to enforce food safety The FDA already has the power to effectively recall foods by publicly announcing a product has been found to be contaminated. The FDA already has the power to confiscate “misbranded” products, too, and it could easily use this power to halt the sale of contaminated food items. But the FDA simply refuses to enforce the laws already on the books and, instead, has sought to expand its power by hyping up the e.coli food scares. The ploy apparently worked: Now in a reaction to the food scare-mongering, the FDA is being handed not just new powers, but more funding, too! And you can bet it will find creative new ways to put this power to work suppressing the health freedoms and food freedoms of the American people. Lie #6 – Fresh produce is contaminated because of a lack of paperwork There is no evidence that requiring farms to fill out more paperwork will make their food safer. The real cause of produce contamination is the existence of factory animal farms whose effluent output (huge rivers of cow feces, basically), end up in the water supply, soils and equipment that comes into contact with fresh produce. The food contamination problem is an UPSTREAM problem where you’ve got to reform the factory animal operations that now dominate the American meat industry. S.510, however, does absolutely nothing to address this. Factory animal farms aren’t even addressed in the bill! Lie #7 – The American people are dying in droves from unsafe fresh food The truth is that Americans are dying from processed food laced with toxic chemical additives, not from fresh, raw produce. Partially-hydrogenated oils, white sugar, aspartame, MSG and artificial food colors almost certainly kill far more people than bacterial contaminations. The American public is also dying from pharmaceuticals — anywhere from 100,000 to 240,000 people a year are killed by FDA-approved drugs (http://www.naturalnews.com/001894.html), most of which have been approved under the guise of blatantly fraudulent science and drug company trickery. The FDA doesn’t seem to mind. In fact, it has been a willful co-conspirator in the scientific fraud carried out by Big Pharma in the name of “medicine.” (http://www.naturalnews.com/027851_health_news_Big_Pharma.html) To think that the FDA — the very same agency responsible for the Big Pharma death machine — is now going to “save us” by controlling food safety is highly irrational. Lie #8 – The FDA just wants to make food “safer” Actually, the FDA wants to make the food more DEAD. Both the FDA and the USDA are vocal opponents of live food. They think that the only safe food is sterilized food , which is why they’ve supported the fumigation, pasteurization and irradiation efforts that have been pushed over the last few years. California almond growers, for example, must now either chemically fumigate or pasteurize their almonds before selling them (http://www.naturalnews.com/021776.html). This has destroyed the incomes of U.S. almond farmers and forced U.S. food companies to buy raw almonds from Spain and other countries. Lie #9 – Food smuggling is a huge problem in America One of the main sections of S.510 addresses “food smuggling.” Yep — people smuggling food across the country. If you’ve never heard of this problem that’s because it’s not actually a problem. Not yet anyway. But there’s a reason why they put this into the bill: Because they’re probably planning on criminalizing fresh produce and then arresting people for transporting broccoli with the “intent to distribute.” Yep, farmers bringing fresh produce to sell at the weekend farmer’s market could soon be arrested and imprisoned as if they were drug smugglers. Hence the need for the “food smuggling” provisions of S.510. Soon, we will all have to meet in secret locations just to trade carrots for cash. Lie #10 – S.510 will make America’s food supply the safest in the world Actually, even with S.510 in place, America’s food supply is among the most chemically contaminated in the world, second only to China. You can find mercury in the seafood, BPA in the canned soup, yeast extract (MSG) in the “natural” potato chips, and artificial petrochemical coloring agents in children’s foods. Eating the “Standard American Diet” is probably the single most harmful thing a person can do for their health. It’s the fastest way to get cancer, diabetes and heart disease. Every nation in the world that begins to consume the American diet starts to show record rates of degenerative disease within one generation . This is the “safe food” that the U.S. Senate is now pushing on everyone. Remember, with S.510, SAFE = DEAD. And the FDA says it wants to keep everybody safe. We are working hard to fight for freedom and educate the public about why we need to resist these “Big Government solutions” that trample over our Constitutional rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness (which, in my mind, includes buying fresh produce at the farmer’s market).
