Epilepsy Foundation warning shows that television, movies can reprogram brain neurology

Nursing home scandal exposed: Lost generation of senior citizens being hospitalized for profit

(NaturalNews) A shocking new study conducted by the National Institute of Aging just revealed that one fifth of Medicare nursing home patients with Alzheimer’s or other dementia were sent to hospitals for “questionable reasons” in their final months, often enduring tube feeding and intensive care that prolonged their suffering. This “lost generation” of senior citizens, in other words, are being sent to hospitals to suffer needlessly FOR PROFIT. Nursing homes exposed as Medicare parasites The criminals running these nursing homes are transferring helpless, undeserving elderly folk into hospital settings where their suffering is perpetuated. Many of these poor senior citizens are then unable to pass away in peace because of their prolonged treatments in these hospitals. This simply is because money-grubbing torturers are desperate for extra cash flow from Medicare. Researchers found that elderly patients who were “questionably” transferred (read: dishonestly transferred) were more likely to have a feeding tube inserted, to spend time in intensive care in the last month of life, to end up with a severe bedsore or to be enrolled in hospice late (three days or less before they died). The researchers from the National Institute of Aging used Medicare records from 2000 through 2007 to identify what would qualify as “burdensome” and unnecessary transitions of care: uprooting sick elderly patients in the last three days of life, carting them to hospitals multiple times in the last three months of life or moving them in such a way that they landed in a new nursing home afterward. Disgustingly enough, these hospital transfers were also more common with black and Hispanic elderly patients. This means nursing homes are not only selfishly hospitalizing elderly patients that are terminally ill for financial gain, they’re trying to get rid of them for racist reasons as well! The results of this new study are especially significant and eye-opening because more than 1.6 million Americans live in nursing homes . That’s right — that means approximately 320,000 helpless elderly people who are incapable of fending for themselves or defending themselves are being wrongfully hospitalized by nursing homes for profit . This is an absolute embarrassment to humanity! Among the nearly 475,000 elderly patients studied, 19 percent were moved to hospitals for “questionable reasons.” That’s a HUGE percentage of senior citizens being victimized for profit! Although rates of these transfers vary from state to state, in one example from McAllen, Texas, 26 percent of study participants had multiple hospitalizations for urinary infections, pneumonia or dehydration — conditions that can ALL usually be treated effectively in a nursing home. In other words, the huge amount of terminally ill senior citizens that make up this “Lost Generation” are silently suffering at the hands of America’s corrupt healthcare system. According to these nursing homes, the well-being of these elderly people does not matter. The only thing these money-hungry monsters care about is a fatter paycheck. The hardships and strains of hospitalizations on senior citizens very obviously outweigh the possible benefits. Nursing homes should easily be able to manage the care of those with advanced dementia without the unwarranted stress of frequent hospitalizations. Yet, this violation of human rights continues, stripping senior citizens of their dignity and comfort as well as putting unnecessary strain on their families. Nursing homes clearly are not exempt from the criminality of the health care industry Medicaid pays on average $175 per day (depending on the state) for long-term care, but Medicare will pay three times that amount for what is deemed “skilled nursing care” after a patient returns from three days or more in a hospital. This extra financial cushion puts flashing dollar signs in the eyes of these predatory monsters that call themselves “nursing” homes. Instead of living up to their title and NURSING the elderly patients that need their help the most, these homes merely look at them as opportunities to put more cash in the bank . Nursing homes are specifically equipped to handle the needs of senior citizens suffering from terminal conditions. Their purpose is to provide care and allow these elderly patients to rest in peace until it is their time to pass. But apparently the greedy incentive of these nursing homes to hospitalize terminally ill patients for their own profit is far greater than their desire to provide the care these patients desperately need and deserve. Granted similar abuses existed on other fruit company plantations, however seventy percent of the children interviewed worked on a plantation that supplied Dole. The company has been accused of making payment to a paramilitary group in Columbia known as the AUC. A lawsuit (that was subsequently dismissed) alleged that Dole was the mastermind being the murder of 51 men, in a bid to takeover their land. In 1993 another class action suit against Dole, Chiquita, Del Monte, Dow, Shell and Occidental resulted in a 41.5 settlement for workers from Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and the Philippines. Yet other cases have fallen short, Dole alleges fraud, and somehow verdicts are lessened and judgments are overturned. In a now infamous case, Attorney Juan Dominguez filed suit in 2008 against both Dow and Dole. In a classic Dole move the company sought to have the case dismissed on the grounds of fraud by Juan Dominguez and some of the Plaintiffs. In 2009, relying on testimony from John Doe witnesses (Dole successfully won a motion for them to remain anonymous due to concern for their safety), Judge Victoria Cheney dismissed the case. Another victory for Dole, but maybe just temporarily, in January 2010, the plaintiff’s new attorney made a motion challenging the dismissal. My interview with Patch Adams. What’s your gesundheit?

(NaturalNews) I wanted to talk to him about his approach to health, but the voicemail I received in response to my inquiry took things in a totally different direction. “If you want to talk about how the government has ruined our chances of survival as a species…if you’d like to use this topic as your approach to an article on health, then call me.” Patch Adam’s voice was intense and not at all what I expected from my experience of his character as played by Robin Williams in the movie Patch Adams . “I’m a nerd,” Patch told me when I called back. “I’m sitting here in my small apartment and all I see are books. All I do is read and study and I can tell you that we are heading toward extinction. In another 25 years the demise of the human race will be unstoppable – too late! But nobody cares.” Patch turned his attention to the newspaper I publish, Healthy Times . “I’m looking at your Healthy Times Newspaper here and I don’t see any advertisers that really offer health to your community. What I see are a bunch of businesses that want to make money and are using health and wellness as their angle. If you want to promote health, I have a plan for you,” the passion in his voice began to rise. “Require all of your advertisers to offer a free community health day at their practice or place of business. For just one day, they must offer their services for free to anyone who shows up. Advertise it in your newspapers and watch how the community responds. Then you will be promoting health!” Patch was on a roll, “Everyone is focused on money and power and it is killing us. The environment may not be recoverable. The economy is not sustainable and real health care should be free. This is what I have always strived to offer. When they made the movie about me, they promised that my free hospital would become a reality. It is the only reason I agreed to do it, but it never happened.” Was I beginning to detect tones of resentment in his voice? Is this comedian/doctor who travels the world dressed in a clown suit really a cynic? Patch’s dream of making the Gesundheit! I don’t believe in offering free health services to the masses, as Patch Adams does. However, Patch is an extraordinary example to anyone with a dream. He is one of those rare souls who simply won’t sell out. He refuses to trade his dream and his values for money, fame or the approval of the powers that be. This quality of person is extremely rare and a gift to the rest of us, regardless of our personal beliefs. If you don’t have a personal cause that you won’t sacrifice for any amount of money or fame, you are not alone. Most people are merely “working for the weekend” and don’t want to be bothered with radical ideas or risk sacrificing the luxuries of a steady paycheck and regular Sunday barbecues just to champion some personal cause that stands little to no chance of making a difference. Look at Patch. Millions around the world know his name and in 40 years he has still not broken ground on his free hospital. What’s the point? This line of thinking catastrophically misses the point! The difference you make in the world has less to do with what you accomplish on the outside and everything to do with what you stand for and who you become. Doritos ads represent sick, demented nature of junk food companies and their products

One Doritos ad portrays a man backing out of a parking lot when his car strikes an innocent person who drops a bag of Doritos and falls to the ground behind the car. Rather than trying to help the innocent victim, this man throws his car into reverse and drives over the victim, killing him with the vehicle and stealing the bag of Doritos. The message? Doritos are so valuable that it’s okay to kill people just to score a bag. Gee, why not just use the women in this role and make it a wife-beating commercial? Acts of senseless violence committed against fellow human beings . Doritos marketing executives apparently think these commercials showing gratuitous acts of violence and murder are going to help them sell more Doritos. Maybe they’ve been eating too much of their own product and their brain function has been suppressed by all the MSG found in Doritos… because these ads aren’t funny, they’re sick! “Demented” might be a better term. It’s hard to see the humor when there’s so much realistic violence in the way. And yet somehow Frito-Lay executives gave these ads the big thumbs up. Let’s use violence to sell junk foods! It sort of makes sense, actually: Junk food consumption is correlated with violent crime . Virtually all the criminals in prison across the country are nutritionally imbalanced due to their consumption of processed junk foods and their lack of sufficient nutritional supplementation. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if a study revealed that fried snack foods like Doritos are a favorite food among violent criminals. These are, after all, the kind of people depicted in some Doritos advertisements. In my view, the violent Doritos commercials accurately reflect the senseless, violent behavior that typifies people (younger males, mostly) who consume large quantities of processed junk foods, sugary soft drinks and gimmicky “sports drinks.” These are the people who end up being put on antidepressants and other psychotropic drugs, after which they sometimes end up in a school shooting rampage. It might make a good Doritos commercial, actually: A kid grows up on junk food and diet soda laced with aspartame. He’s drugged up on Ritalin and Prozac. One day he brings a semiautomatic rifle to school, barges into a classroom and opens fire on his classmates, shooting and screaming, “I WANT MY F*@!KING DORITOS!” Hilarious, huh? Some people think so. The Frito-Lay executives apparently think this kind of violence is appropriate for mainstream television. This is the kind of imagery they’re using to try to convince people to buy their products! How sick is that? Ow, My Balls! If you’ve ever seen the movie Idiocracy , you may remember the popular TV show being watched by the dumbed-down, brain-numbed junk food consumers who inhabit the world depicted in the film. That show was called, ” Ow, My Balls! ” and it consisted of random acts of violence against the testicles of the show host who is seen being kicked in the balls, falling on his balls, being hit in the balls by a wrecking crane and other similar acts.
