Confirmed: Fukushima disaster contaminated ocean with 50 million times normal radiation, leaks still ongoing

(NaturalNews) Things are suddenly heating up again with Fukushima. As we reported yesterday, the southern wall of Fukushima reactor #4 apparently collapsed over the past few days, calling into question the structural integrity of the remainder of the containment building (http://www.naturalnews.com/034387_Fukushima_nuclear_reactor_collapse.html). The mainstream media has said absolutely nothing about this development, continuing its pattern of downplaying news involving Fukushima, radiation or the flawed structure of nuclear power plants. This is hardly surprising, given that many of the largest media outlets (such as NBC and MSNBC) are owned by corporations such as General Electric, the designer of many of the world’s nuclear power plants. (http://www.freepress.net/ownership/chart/main) Photos of the failed structure have emerged on Enenews.com, where a report explains that a once-intact wall is now essentially “missing” and that further degradation of the structure could lead to mass evacuations in Japan (http://enenews.com/report-confirmed-wall-reactor-4-lost-south-side-photos). As this report is still not confirmed by other sources, we continue to take this with a sense of caution here at NaturalNews. We will continue to monitor the situation and report any relevant developments. 50 million times higher radiation levels What has hit the mainstream media, however, is a report entitled Impacts of the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plants on Marine Radioactivity , authored by Ken Buesseler, Michio Aoyama, and Masao Fukasawa (http://pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.1021/es202816c). This report, published in Environmental Science and Technology , reveals that levels of radioactive cesium reached 50 million times normal levels in the ocean water off the coast of the Fukushima Dai-ichi facility. Even more concerning, the abstract of this paper concludes, “…the concentrations through the end of July remain higher than expected implying continued releases from the reactors or other contaminated sources, such as groundwater or coastal sediments.” This, of course, contradicts mainstream media reports which for the most part stated that the radiation was “contained” and was not leaking directly into the environment. Only the alternative press has covered the real story on Fukushima, which has now become the worst radiological accident in the history of human civilization. This same study ultimately concludes that this level of radiation contamination of the ocean is essentially harmless, stating, “…dose calculations suggest minimal impact on marine biota or humans due to direct exposure in surrounding ocean waters, though considerations for biological uptake and consumption of seafood are discussed and further study is warranted.” That’s a conclusion to be viewed with skepticism and caution, of course, as it says on one hand that “it’s no problem” and yet on the other hand, maybe you shouldn’t eat the seafood because we really don’t know what quantity and concentration of radioactive elements may be ingested and concentrated by seafood sources. Radioactive strontium admittedly leaked into the ocean Another important development now surfacing is that TEPCO has finally admitted that alarming quantities of radioactive strontium (which has roughly a 30-year half life) have leaked into the ocean — and that the leaks are ongoing! According to TEPCO, which has repeatedly and deliberately lied to the public in order to downplay any “bad news” about radiological leaks, “26 billion becquerels of radioactive materials” have leaked into the ocean due to the Fukushima accident. (http://www.japantoday.com/category/national/view/radioactive-water-containing-strontium-leaked-into-pacific-tepco) “This suggests that the releases have not ended, so that is of concern,” said Ken Buesseler from the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution . “If the contaminants end up in the marine sediments / muds, then they will remain there for decades to come, and thus potentially be of concern for benthic biota and consumers of benthic fish/shell fish, i.e. any local filter feeders near the source waters at the coast.” (http://www.smartplanet.com/blog/intelligent-energy/fukushima-ocean-radiation-could-pose-sleeper-threat/11042) The worst may be yet to come What’s clear from all this is that: • The Fukushima facility remains highly unstable and could dramatically worsen, especially if another earthquake or tsunami strikes the area and causes further degradation of the structural integrity of containment buildings which still house nuclear fuel rods. • The Fukushima catastrophe is, without question, the most massive radiological disaster ever recorded in human history. • The mainstream media has consistently (intentionally?) downplayed the severity of the Fukushima disaster, perhaps to try to calm fears by denying the true extent of the problem. • TEPCO routinely and habitually lied about the status of Fukushima during the meltdown and in the days and weeks following that meltdown. • We therefore cannot rely upon official sources to accurately inform us of the actual status of the Fukushima facility. The risk of being misled by those official sources is very high. If you want the truth, don’t trust official sources Under such circumstances, the wise thing to do is stay informed and get prepared in case the Fukushima situation suddenly worsens. Hopefully everyone in North America knows by now that another release of radiation from Fukushima could widely contaminate the West Coast of the United States with radioactive fallout. Given that government agencies in both the United States and Japan have altered the definitions of allowable radiation exposure limits (http://naturalnews.com/031963_radiation_exposure.html), it hardly seems reasonable to think that these government are erring on the side of caution. In fact, by all accounts these governments are proactively working to downplay the severity of any future radiological event by claiming that levels of contamination previously considered poisoning are now suddenly “within safe limits.” But within whose definition of safe limits? After all, the U.S. government also thinks it’s perfectly safe for you to drink fluoride, microwave your body at TSA checkpoints, eat genetically modified organisms, get yourself repeatedly injected with chemical adjuvants in vaccines and drink aspartame. Aw, c’mon. What’s a little radiation on top of all that?
Is crude oil still gushing in the Gulf? New ten-mile oil slick spotted near Deepwater Horizon

(NaturalNews) Roughly a year and a half after the BP oil disaster left the Gulf of Mexico saturated with crude oil and toxic Corexit chemicals, new evidence has surfaced showing what appears to be more crude oil spewing into the ocean. Raw Story explains that Dr. Bonny Schumaker, founder of OnWingsOfCare.org, a nonprofit organization devoted to protecting and preserving wildlife and the environment, recently spotted a ten-mile-long oil slick near the BP Macondo oil well that was supposedly capped shut. Dr. Schumaker’s video of the oil slick, which was uploaded to YouTube on August 30, 2011, can be viewed here: http://youtu.be/mlWKptW74CY On September 18, 2010, The Washington Post reported that the BP Macondo oil well was officially dead, adding the US government’s declaration that the well was “physically incapable of leaking another drop (of oil)” (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/09/17/AR2010091706725.html). But Dr. Schumaker’s stunning flyover suggests otherwise, revealing what appears to be endless, wispy streams of oil continuing to trail through Gulf waters. Dr. Schumaker was not the only one to spot the oil, either. Two men from Louisiana State University (LSU) last week took a boat out to the area near the Deepwater Horizon disaster, and they, too, spotted oil slicks all around their boat. They also saw numerous oil “blooms” rising to the top of the water, which indicate perpetual leaks coming from somewhere on the ocean floor. You can view their video here: http://video-embed.al.com/services/player/bcpid634644574001?bctid=1127508644001 BP, of course, denies that the oil leaks are connected to the Macondo well. If it is later determined, however, that the well is still leaking, or that BP’s drilling operations have caused fissures elsewhere that are now producing the leaks, the company may incur further liability, particularly from suits that were previously dismissed on the assumption that the well had been capped and that cleanup was already in progress (http://www.myweathertech.com/2011/06/18/federal-judge-rules-bp-not-responsible-for-clean-up-tax-payers-are/). Monsanto preys on popularity of omega-3s by developing GMO soybean that produces fake fish oil

(NaturalNews) Leave it to Monsanto to take a good thing and corrupt it for financial gain. According to a recent report in Forbes , the multinational biotechnology-slash-agriculture-manipulating monolith has developed a new genetically-modified (GM) soybean that artificially produces stearidonic acid, a type of omega-3 fatty acid — and the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is expected to approve the “frankenbean” sometime this year. Monsanto appears to be introducing the omega-3 enhanced GM soybean oil, called Soymega or “stearidonic acid soybean oil” (SDA oil), at a craftily strategic time when much of the world is still reeling from the Fukushima Daiichi mega-disaster, which left ocean waters ridden with radioactive isotopes. And since omega-3s just happen to be most readily found in fatty ocean fish, the perpetual fear over radioactive and other poisons that may be lurking in such fish could drive many to embrace Monsanto’s fake fish oil instead. According to an FDA letter responding to Monsanto’s request to have SDA oil approved for use as a food additive and acknowledged as being “generally recognized as safe” (GRAS), the FDA noted that Monsanto intends to use its omega-3-enhanced oil in a variety of food applications. These include baked goods, breakfast cereals, fish products, frozen dairy desserts, cheeses, grains and pastas, gravies, nuts, poultry, fruit juices, processed vegetable products, and soups — yes, basically every processed food product in existence. Monsanto created its GM soybean oil by injecting two specific enzymes into soybean genes. One came from Primula juliae , a type of flower, and the other from Neurospora crass , a type of red mold that grows on bread. As a result, the beans produce SDA oil and gamma-linolenic acid, two compounds not normally found in soybeans. In its original request letter, Monsanto claims that its company-funded trials prove that SDA oil is safe for animal and human consumption, and that “no toxicologically significant effects were observed.” However, the data does not specifically highlight the long-term effects of the oil in animals or in humans — it merely alleges that nothing bad was observed during the 16-week trial period, which is hardly enough reassurance that the product is undeniably safe for consumption. Nevertheless, the FDA has already granted Soymega GRAS status, which means that the agency acknowledges Monsanto’s safety claims, and essentially has no problems with or objections to them. And if the FDA grants full approval for Soymega, you can expect to see it turning up in all sorts of consumer food products. Have all the ocean disasters in recent years been a catalyst for forcing people over to artificial, patented varieties of omega-3s? Between BP’s “Deepwater Horizon” oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico in April 2010, and the earthquake and tsunami that ravaged the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear facility in March 2011, many of the world’s oceans, and corresponding fish stocks, have been severely tainted. Add in perpetual mercury poisoning and other pollution that has been afflicting ocean life for many decades, and seafood appears less and less enticing as a safe and healthy source of omega-3s. Enter Monsanto. By positing its omega-3 GM soybean variety as a safer, healthier alternative to natural seafood and sea-based fish oils, the company stands to gain an incredible amount of profit while ultimately steering public preference away from natural sources of omega-3s, and towards its own patented varieties of omega-3s. The same Forbes article that announced the advent of Monsanto’s Soymega also mentions that sea-based fish oils can be contaminated with toxins, and also suggests that fish-derived omega-3s are responsible for depleting fish stocks and damaging the environment. Do you see where this is all going? It is all too convenient that as omega-3s become more popular than ever, Monsanto, in conjunction with the FDA and the mainstream media, is coordinating a leveraged attack against natural sources of omega-3s in order to brainwash the public into accepting its “safer” variety. And by getting SDA oil laced throughout the food supply, the public will ultimately have little choice in avoiding it., and will probably just accept it as beneficial. Monsanto is clearly dead set on capturing the omega-3 market through its new soybean oil. After all, soybean oil has become a staple in most American processed foods, and by “enriching” everything from breads and cereals to vegetable dishes and quick dinners with Soymega, the general public will be less prone to purchase fish for its health benefits. And the end result will be more control of the food supply handed over to Monsanto, and less availability of natural omega-3s on the market. If the Titanic sank today, here’s how the President, the media and Wall Street would spin it (satire)

(NaturalNews) What would all the world’s experts and authorities say today if the Titanic were sinking but nobody was willing to admit it? The U.S. economy, after all, is sinking and taking on an unprecedented volume of water (i.e. debt), yet virtually no one is willing to admit the obvious fact that this ship is sinking. And much like with the Titanic, most “experts” continue to claim the U.S. economy is unsinkable, despite the obvious evidence that we might want to start heading for the life rafts. So in the spirit of comedy — which is, after all, what we are witnessing in Washington these days — imagine The Titanic hitting an iceberg in 2011, followed by a string of experts all trying to spin the story their own way. Here’s what they might say: The White House Press Secretary: The iceberg was placed in the Atlantic ocean by Osama Bin Laden. The chemist: That’s not an iceberg. It’s merely solid-state di-hydrogen oxide. Al Gore: That iceberg wouldn’t have even been there if the polar caps weren’t melting. The Congressman: Quick, let’s pass a new law that says ships shall not sink. President Obama: The Titanic isn’t sinking. It’s merely engaged in “aquatic action.” Former President Bush: Icebergs are weapons of mass destruction planted in the ocean by terrorists. We must avenge the iceberg terrorists! The Pentagon: We will equalize the hole in one side of the ship by blowing a matching hole in the other side. The TSA inspector: You’re not allowed onto a lifeboat until we check your anus for explosives. The Cancer Doctor: We can’t fix the hole in the ship, but through the miracle of chemotherapy, we can make you suffer so much that you won’t care. The Wall Street investment banker: Don’t worry, the Fed will bail out all the water we’re taking on. The Titanic is too big to fail. The teenage girl: Can I still text on my iPhone under water? Congressman Weiner: Yes you can, and by the way, here’s a very special “going away” message for you to remember me by. Average Joe: Is the ship’s buffet still open? The FDA: We believe the ship is sinking because of an e.coli infection that spread from the galley. The CDC: Everybody should get vaccinated before the ship sinks, just in case there’s a shark-flu virus in the water. The New Ager: There is no hole in the ship unless you believe there is a hole in the ship. The Academic: I have published a paper that proves this ship is unsinkable. Would anyone like to read it? Please? The Catholic priest: I think we should save all the children first. Which lifeboat are they on again? The Journalist: The Titanic has a hole in its side, but official sources tell us it’s only “aquatic action” and there’s no cause for alarm. And we believe them. The Federal Reserve: We have decided to dump more water onto the ship in the hope of making it float. The Federal Government: Hey, these deck chairs look pretty nice. Let’s rearrange them! The Doctor: We need to order a couple dozen CT scans of the ship’s null and bill them to Medicare before we have any idea at all what to do. The Denialist: Stop talking about negative things. Stay focused on the positive and you won’t need a life vest. The Realist: This ship is going down, folks. You might want to think about taking action to keep yourself alive. The Gullible Masses: Don’t worry, this ship is unsinkable. Even if it did sink, there are plenty of lifeboats. Even if there aren’t enough lifeboats, we all have life jackets. Even if we don’t have enough life jackets, the government will come save us.
Fukushima already ten times worse than Chernobyl in ocean waters, suggests data

(NaturalNews) Recent readings taken roughly 19 miles out to sea from the Fukushima nuclear power facility in Japan have revealed radioisotope levels ten times higher than those measured in the Baltic and Black Seas after the massive Chernobyl disaster. Because Fukushima is much closer to water than the Chernobyl plant is, the ongoing fallout there is shaping up to be far worse than Chernobyl, at least as far as the world’s oceans are concerned, and time will tell just how devastating this massive disaster will be on the entire world as radiation continues to circulate around the globe. “Given that the Fukushima nuclear power plant is on the ocean, and with leaks and runoff directly to the ocean, the impacts on the ocean will exceed those of Chernobyl, which was hundreds of miles from any sea,” said Ken Buessler, Senior Scientist in Marine Chemistry at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in Massachusetts, several months back. Since that time, it has been revealed that Fukushima reactors 1, 2, and 3 have all experienced “melt-throughs,” which are considered to be the worst possible outcome in a nuclear disaster (http://www.naturalnews.com/032657_Fukushima_meltdown.html). Various atomic experts are now in agreement that the unfolding situation in Japan truly is “as serious as it gets in a nuclear disaster.” Even the Japanese government itself is now admitting the grave reality of the situation, having recently announced it will submit a report to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) explaining the details of the melt-throughs, which basically mean that radioactive fuel appears to have burned through the outer containment vessels of the reactors and have gone directly into bare earth. “Dangerous levels of radioactive iodine and cesium have already contaminated the sea, the soil, groundwater, and the air,” said reporter Mark Willacy of the Australian Broadcast Corporation in a recent Lateline interview (http://www.abc.net.au/lateline/content/2011/s3241508.htm). “This week plutonium was detected for the first time outside the stricken plant, and Strontium-90, known as a bone seeker because it can cause bone cancer and Leukemia, has now been found as far away as 60 kilometers (37+ miles) from the facility.” Sources for this story include: http://www.commondreams.org/view/2011/05/26-7
The cesium deception: Why the mainstream media is mostly reporting iodine levels, not radioactive cesium
April 7, 2011 by
(NaturalNews) Virtually all the numbers you’re seeing about the radioactivity coming out of Fukushima are based on iodine-131 which only has a half-life of 8 days, not the far more dangerous cesium-137 which has a half-life of 30 years . So while the mainstream media reports that “radiation levels are falling rapidly” from the 7.5 million times reading taken a few days ago, what they’re not telling you is that the cesium-137 radioactivity will take 30 years just to fall by 50 percent. It’s the great global cover-up in all this: What happens to all the radioactive cesium being dumped into the ocean right now? It doesn’t just burn itself out in a few months like iodine-131. This stuff sticks around for centuries . As part of the cover story, the FDA now says it will test “all imported food products coming from Japan” (http://ecocentric.blogs.time.com/2011/04/05/fukushima-dumping-into-the-sea/). This claim is, of course, ridiculous on its face. Even without this Fukushima emergency in the works, the FDA only tests a tiny fraction of all the food imported into the USA. This agency has no existing infrastructure under which it could test ALL the food being imported from Japan. The very idea is ludicrous. As this ABC News story reveals, the FDA says it’s “really stretched” just to inspect a mere two percent of imported food: http://abcnews.go.com/Health/radiation-japans-fish-raise-concerns-world/story?id=13302515 The FDA likes radiation! Even if the FDA could magically test all the food being imported from Japan, what allowable level of radiation would the FDA claim was “safe” in those foods anyway? Remember, this is the agency that has long supported the mass irradiation of the U.S. food supply as a way to kill e.coli and salmonella. For all we know, FDA bureaucrats equate radiation with safety and might actually declare radioactive seafood from Japan to be safer than non-radioactive food because, they would say, the radiation “kills salmonella.” Why eating radioactive food is FAR more dangerous than nuclear fallout The other element in all this that’s hardly being reported in the press is that when you eat radioactive food, the threat to your health increases exponentially . That’s because internal radiation is far more deadly to your body than external radiation. It all comes down to the law of the inverse square of the distance between you and the radiation source. A speck of radioactive dust that’s one meter away from you, for example, is twice as dangerous as that same speck four meters away. But if you eat that radioactive speck (because it’s part of a fish you’re consuming, for example), then suddenly it’s inside your body . So now it might only be a millimeter away from your internal tissues, meaning you’ve decreased the distance between you and the radiation source by one thousand times . Because if the law of the inverse square of the distance, you have now magnified the radiation intensity by one million times (because one million is the square of one thousand). So a speck of radiation that might have been a “low level” if it were floating around in the air around you can suddenly become fatal if you consume it. And that’s what people are now facing with Japan’s seafood. Yet everybody is being told that it’s all perfectly safe, no problem, no worried, don’t even think about it. Where does the radiation go in your body? We’re all being lied to about the “safety” of radioactive food , you see. And there’s more to it than what has been discussed here, actually: If a fish takes in radioactive cesium and it gets distributed throughout the body of that fish in the way that potassium would normally get distributed (because cesium follows nearly the same biological pathways as potassium), then the radioactive cesium has become part of the fish flesh. When you eat that fish, your body breaks down the fish tissues, then reabsorbs the cesium into your own body , distributing the cesium into your own muscle tissues where potassium would normally go. You are what you eat, after all. And if you eat radioactive cesium, then you quickly become a walking radioactive dirty bomb from the inside . If it’s invisible, it must be safe They don’t tell you that on CNN, folks. I’m willing to bet their “info babe” news models don’t even have a clue about the laws of physics in the first place. So while they’re all telling you that eating irradiated seafood from Japan is perfectly safe, the truth is that it could very well be quite deadly if you’re eating fish that contain high levels of cesium. So you might wonder, then, are fish being detected with cesium in their tissues? You bet they are! You’ll find the details in these news stories: http://www.radioaustralia.net.au/connectasia/stories/201104/s3183678.htm and http://mdn.mainichi.jp/mdnnews/business/news/20110406p2a00m0na008000c.html The extremely high levels of radiation even have the local fishermen freaked out. “I can’t go out to fish because of the radiation,” one Japanese fisherman told ABC News (http://abcnews.go.com/Health/radiation-japans-fish-raise-concerns-world/story?id=13302515). But don’t worry, we’re told. It’s all safe to eat. The FDA is in charge, after all. And remember what governments always say about radiation and chemicals: If it’s invisible, it MUST be safe!
Fukushima dumping of radioactive water into Pacific Ocean violates international law
April 6, 2011 by
(NaturalNews) The mass dumping of highly radioactive water (measured at 7.5 million times the normal allowed levels) into the Pacific Ocean is not just an environmental disaster; it’s also a violation of international law. The Convention on the Prevention of Marine Pollution by Dumping of Wastes and Other Matter , passed in 1972, forbids nations and companies from dumping toxic wastes into the ocean. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Convention_on_the_Prevention_of_Marine_Pollution_by_Dumping_of_Wastes_and_Other_Matter) Japan, it turns out, gave the Fukushima complex special permission to release all this radiation, despite the international law. Of course, even Japan’s granting of this “special permission” is, itself, a violation of that same international law. But who’s keeping track, anyway? Those managing this disaster in Japan say that releasing radiation into the ocean is their only remaining option right now. As reported in TIME, “There was no choice but to take this step to prevent (other) highly radioactive water from spreading into the sea,” said Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano. “The fact that radioactive water is being deliberately dumped into the sea is very regrettable and one we are very sorry about.” (http://ecocentric.blogs.time.com/2011/04/05/fukushima-dumping-into-the-sea/) Well, I guess it’s all okay if they feel sorry about it, then. But South Korea isn’t happy about it, that’s for sure: They lodged an official protest with Japan yesterday, complaining about their dumping of radioactive water into the ocean (http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/world/concern-over-dumping-of-water-from-fukushima-plant-s-korea-raises-radioactive-alarm/story-e6frg6so-1226034303711). What South Korea realizes is something the rest of the world won’t dare admit: Fukushima has become the “dirty bomb” of the Pacific , releasing huge quantities of radiation on an ongoing basis, directly into the environment with no end in sight. The global damage this could cause over the next few decades is incalculable. Has anybody stopped to consider how Japan is going to be able to pay for all this damage? There’s no question that the nation is going to have to start selling off U.S. debt holdings in the near future, and that could spell the beginning of the end of the U.S. runaway debt bubble, resulting in an inability for the United States to find any more buyers of its debt. Uh oh, I feel a “hair cut” coming for the U.S. government, which may soon find itself begging for loans from world nations in order to keep itself alive. And that sad scenario won’t last very long, either, because as soon as the American people wake up and realize their social security money has long since been looted and spent by the feds, we’re likely going to see a mass of public protests that could thrust this nation into political chaos. And to think, it all started when planet Earth shrugged off the coast of Japan. Or, you might say, Atlas Shrugged.
EPA to raise limits for radiation exposure while Canada turns off fallout detectors
April 5, 2011 by Health Blogger
(NaturalNews) The mass radioactive contamination of our planet is now under way thanks to the astonishing actions taking place at the Fukushima nuclear facility in Japan. As of last night, TEPCO announced it is releasing 10,000 tons of radioactive water directly into the Pacific Ocean. That 2.4 million gallons of planetary poison being dumped directly into the ocean. This water is being released because they have run out of places to keep it on land. It’s too deadly to transport anywhere else, and all the storage pools around Fukushima are already overflowing. So they’re dumping it into the ocean, then calling it “safe” because they claim the ocean will “disperse” all the radiation and make it harmless. But because there’s more radioactive water being produced every day at Fukushima, this process of releasing radioactive water into the ocean could theoretically continue for years , easily making Fukushima the worst nuclear disaster in the history of our world. Quick, fudge the numbers before anybody notices! Fukushima, you see, is doing to the Pacific Ocean what BP and the Deepwater Horizon did to the Gulf of Mexico last summer. Except that in the case of Fukushima, that radiation doesn’t just disappear with the help of millions of gallons of toxic chemicals. Nope, that radiation sticks around for decades . So what to do? If you’re the United States Environment Protection Agency, there’s only one option: Declare radiation to be safe! Yes indeed, friends, we have reached a moment of comedic insanity at the EPA, where those in charge of protecting the environment are hastily rewriting the definition of “radioactive contamination” in order to make sure that whatever fallout reaches the United States falls under the new limits of “safe” radiation. The EPA maintains a set of so-called “Protective Action Guides” (PAGs). These PAGs are being quickly revised to radically increase the allowable levels of iodine-131 (a radioactive isotope) to anywhere from 3,000 to 100,000 times the currently allowable levels. The group Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER) is all over this issue, having obtained internal emails from a FOIA requests that reveal some truly shocking revelations of the level of back-stabbing betrayal happening inside the EPA. For example, under the newly-revised PAGs, drinking just one glass of water considered “safe” by the EPA could subject you to the lifetime limit of radiation . (http://www.peer.org/news/news_id.php?row_id=1325) “In addition,” PEER goes on to say, “it would allow long-term cleanup limits thousands of times more lax than anything EPA has ever before accepted. These new limits would cause a cancer in as much as every fourth person exposed.” These new PAGs would also vastly increase the allowable levels of radiation in soil and food, too. That way, when the radioactive fallout from Fukushima’s massive release of raw radioactive water begins to rain down upon the West Coast, the EPA can officially announce that all the radiation is “below accepted limits.” That’s very comforting to many people, you see. And why is it below the limits? Because the EPA just raised the limits by as much as 100,000 times! Quack science is alive and well as the government Truly, this is science at its most delightful. When the facts don’t fit your fairy tale, simply rewrite the fairy tale to discard the facts! That’s science for you today, folks: There’s nothing that can’t be denied, censored, oppressed or ignored if you just fudge the numbers with enough determination and arrogance. The U.S. government does the exact same thing with vitamin D, of course. By lowering the definition of vitamin D deficiency to mean only those with a blood level below 30, the government magically and instantly transforms a wildly deficient American population into a “sufficiently nourished” population! It’s magic, friends. Magic with numbers. But even the EPA’s sleight-of-hand magic isn’t fooling very many people this time around. Even the most TV-obsessed, CNN-watching news zombie has by now figured out that too much radiation is bad for you. After all, the media has been screaming at people about the dangers of sunlight radiation for years, insisting that the mere act of sunlight touching your skin could kill you from skin cancer. And yet, thanks to the EPA’s magically-morphing numbers, even though sunlight radiation might kill you, Fukushima radiation is perfectly safe for ya! You have a front row seat in this entertaining charade Isn’t it amazing? Watching the U.S. government try to fudge its way out of the physical realities of Fukushima probably beats the best stage magic show you’ll ever find in Vegas. Sure, in Vegas they can make white tigers disappear right in front of your very eyes, but with the help of the U.S. government, they can cause the world’s largest nuclear catastrophe to vanish by simply redefining radiation exposure limits. You may wonder, dear readers, where the U.S. government learned these amazing and fantastic tricks of fudging the numbers. The answer, as regular NaturalNews know all too well, is that they learned it from the U.S. Treasury , where fudging the numbers is an essential skill to keep things running. After all, if the federal government can pretend that trillions of dollars in toxic debt have no impact on the U.S. economy, it’s a no-brainer to also pretend that massive doses of radioactive fallout have no impact on environmental health, either. That’s the new mantra in Washington: We just wish it away! It should be Obama’s new campaign slogan, actually: Are you ready to wish it all away? Watch the distraction in my right hand while I steal the money out of your wallet with my left… British scientists have the solution: Spread it all around! Getting back to the absolutely glowing situation in Fukushima, if you can’t believe the U.S. EPA, then perhaps you can take comfort in the authoritative words of a British newspaper, which assures us that: “Scientists also confirmed that ocean currents will swiftly dilute the radioactive iodine-131, eliminating risks to human health and the environment.” (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/japan/8425719/Japan-nuclear-crisis-workers-using-newspaper-and-sawdust-to-block-pipes.html) Surely this logic is impeccable, no? Any amount of toxic radiation can simply be declared safe by dumping it into the ocean and watching the waves sweep it all away. By this same logic, you could clean up a toxic chemical spill by swishing it around with wet mops and then declaring the zone to be safe again. Didn’t we try this already with pesticides, herbicides and agricultural runoff? And didn’t it create massive ocean dead zones all around the planet? Now we’re going to add Chernobyl-sized radiation releases to that equation, too? Fukushima is a massive dirty bomb I’m reminded that if an Islamic-looking individual conducted such an act anywhere near a U.S. shoreline, it would be considered an act of terrorism . A dirty bomb, actually. And those individuals would be shipped off the Guantanamo Bay to be interrogated in a facility that President Obama once promised the voters would be closed down if he were elected. He was lying, of course. But that’s not even the news here. Everybody already knows he was lying about Gitmo. So why is unleashing a dirty bomb an act of terrorism if you’re Islamic-looking, but if you’re Japanese suddenly it’s all officially safe? And by what contortions in its twisted agenda of anti-public service does the EPA go to these extraordinary lengths to redefine the very margins of radiation exposure? If Fukushima goes into a total meltdown, will the EPA just add more zeroes to the end of its safety margin numbers until we’re all assured our food is U.S. government approved 100% safe even while our hair falls out from eating it? Will the FDA soon tell us that radioactive milk is safe to drink , but RAW milk is deadly? Canada tries to out-stupid the USA Ah, the fascination of watching this tragic comedy of errors unfold in the U.S. government almost cannot be exceeded. But Canada is sure trying. Its own nuclear monitoring network has simply been shut off, and its website now reads “Please note that as of March 25, 2011, the frequency of data collection by NRCan using the mobile surveys has been decreased due to the low levels of radiation being detected.” Seriously, see the bottom of the page: http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/hc-ps/ed-ud/respond/nuclea/_data/nrcan-rncan-eng.php Yep, since they’re detecting low levels of radiation, this is apparently justification for turning off the monitors altogether , which of course is the kind of brilliant early warning plan that could have only been dreamed up by a brain-dead bureaucrat. It’s as if these morons are sitting around a table having a conversation that goes something like this: Bureaucratic Moron #1: Remember how we spent a hundred million dollars installing a national network of radiation detectors? Bureaucratic Moron #2: Yeah. Bureaucratic Moron #1: And remember how we started to detect some of the radioactive fallout from Fukushima as it began raining down upon Canada? Bureaucratic Moron #2: Yeah. Bureaucratic Moron #1: Well, I have a great idea. Let’s turn OFF all the detectors so that we stop detecting radiation! Bureaucratic Moron #2: That’s brilliant! You’re a genius! Bureaucratic Moron #1: I know I am. And we wouldn’t want to waste this expensive equipment, you know. Bureaucratic Moron #2: Right, we want to save it for a scenario when we might really need it, eh? Bureaucratic Moron #1: Exactly! And we’ll save millions of dollars in operating fees, because the best way to save money on radiation detectors is to not use them. Bureaucratic Moron #2: You’re a genius! You should run for Prime Minister! Yes there is a plan, but you’re not in it Obama, of course, is trying to best his Canadian counterpart by simply urging the American people to do nothing in the case of radioactive fallout. Don’t worry, my little consumer sheeple, you don’t need to prepare in any way whatsoever, Obama says from his nuclear fallout shelter that’s stocked with 10 years of food, water, emergency medical supplies, government ammunition and military communications equipment. It’s okay for the President to prepare for emergencies, I guess. Just not YOU. There is a plan, you see, for the government to survive every disaster that comes our way. You’re just not part of it. The government feels that its own survival is far more important than yours. And just to make sure you don’t interfere with its own plans, the government is going to turn off the radiation detectors, raise the official EPA limits of radioactive exposure, urge Americans to avoid preparing for fallout, and then pretend absolutely nothing’s wrong. Keep on buying, consuming and paying your bills, all you voters! Punch your time clock at your job if you still have one, and don’t ask any questions about radiation, vaccines or the chemical additives they put in hot dogs. Some food ingredients, you see, are only disclosed on a need-to-know basis. And you don’t need to know. Run for the cure. Vote in the next election. Buy diet sodas and watch lots of sports programs on television with occasional interruptions from the news programs now featuring “info babes” regurgitating scripted mindless propaganda bracketed by flying news network logos. Report suspicious activities at Wal-Mart (http://naturalnews.tv/v.asp?v=5A4B5D4B84344D5D9CBD262A53D8B071). Call 911 on your Arab-looking neighbors just because they look Arab-looking. Watch “Ow, My Balls!” on your television set (http://www.naturalnews.com/021558_Idiocracy_Hollywood.html) and stop thinking about your future. Your government already has your future planned for you. That’s why there’s no need for you to expend any effort considering it yourself. Why bother thinking when you can just passively consume everything you’re being spoon-fed by the State? And don’t worry about the radioactive fallout. It’s all safe now. I’ve been assured of that by the EPA.
A 100-year battle awaits Fukushima while suicide workers are needed to keep up the rescue efforts

(NaturalNews) The unfolding of the Fukushima catastrophe continues to worsen. Here are today’s most important developments: • A nuclear expert is now warning that it will take 50 to 100 years before the spent nuclear rods at Fukushima will cool enough to be removed from the site. In the mean time, Japan must keep pouring water on the fuel, and that creates highly radioactive water that’s being flushed directly into the ocean. So now we’re looking at the possibility of a century-long radiation leak (http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2011/04/01/3179487.htm). • The groundwater underneath the Fukushima nuclear power facility is now showing 10,000 times the level of radiation normally allowed by government authorities. This is from iodine-131 measured at 15 meters below one of the reactors. (http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2011/03/31/501364/main20049240.shtml) • You’ve probably already heard that there have been efforts to use robots to help solve the Fukushima crisis, but those efforts have failed. Then again, who needs robots when you can just pay humans to do the same deadly work? Reuters is now reporting that a U.S. recruiting company is signing up U.S. workers to go to Fukushima and work on-site there as part of the crew that’s trying to save the reactors (http://ca.news.yahoo.com/exclusive-wanted-u-workers-crippled-japan-nuke-plant-20110331-165506-832.html). Why would anyone agree to do such a thing? Because they’re being promised extra pay , if you can believe that. You gotta wonder, of course, how these people think they’re going to be able to spend all that extra money if they’re half-dead from radiation poisoning. But hey, if they get paid one dollar for every millirem of radiation they absorb, they could soon be Fukushima’s new millionaires! • The world’s largest concrete pumping truck is headed to Japan as part of a plan that can only be the beginning of the total surrender of Fukushima (http://chronicle.augusta.com/latest-news/2011-03-31/srs-concrete-pump-heading-japan-nuclear-site). The only reason you need to pump that much concrete is if you’re building a giant Chernobyl-like entombment of the Fukushima facility. But who’s going to keep spraying the spent nuclear fuel rods with water in the mean time? (Nobody knows…) • Due to the failure of Fukushima, Tokyo will be experiencing rolling blackouts all summer long. Tokyo’s power has been reduced by roughly 20 percent due to the Fukushima catastrophe (http://edition.cnn.com/2011/WORLD/asiapcf/03/31/japan.blackouts/index.html?hpt=T2). • Fukushima workers who have been desperately trying to bring the reactors back under control have said they expect to die due to their repeated exposure to extremely high levels of radiation. Oh, but the Fukushima deniers claim radiation is safe and that no one has even been harmed by it! (Seriously…) (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/japan/8419808/Japan-nuclear-crisis-Fukushima-50-expect-to-die.html) • Remember, health authorities have been screaming for decades that sunlight exposure is potentially deadly because of the radiation exposure. But Fukushima fallout, we’re now told, is perfectly safe for you! I guess only the sun is dangerous, not nuclear fuel rod meltdowns. How’s that for public health policy? Fukushima disaster escalates with reports of plutonium in soil, radioactive water spilling into ocean

(NaturalNews) All the indicators of a full-fledged nuclear fallout of epic proportions seem to be falling into place as officials at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant have now announced that deadly plutonium has been detected both inside and outside the plant’s facilities. Levels of radiation 1,150 times the maximum allowable levels have also been detected in ocean water nearly a mile north of the plant’s drainage outlets, confirming previous suspicions that the situation at the plant is far from being under control. According to Kyodo News , soil samples from five different locations surrounding the Fukushima plant tested positive for plutonium. Tokyo Electric Power Co. (TEPCO), owner of the crippled facility, says this plutonium is not a threat to human health, but such a statement is hard to believe considering the sheer potency of the mixed-oxide (MOX) plutonium fuel used in some of the reactors’ fuel rods (http://www.naturalnews.com/031736_plutonium_enriched_uranium.html). The fact that plutonium has even been detected at all is highly disturbing because the element emits far fewer gamma rays than other radioactive materials like iodine, cesium, and uranium. So this means that even when it escapes in deadly quantities, plutonium can be difficult to properly detect until it is too late. Plutonium 239 is generally recognized as the most deadly element in the world, as just a few milligrams of it in a smoke plume can contaminate the environment for thousands of years (http://www.businessinsider.com/japan-nuclear-crisis-what-about-the-plutonium-mox-2011-3#ixzz1HukWPKGU). And now that plutonium has been detected even in small, allegedly “harmless” amounts, there is no telling the extent to which this deadly nuclear component will destroy the environment and human health. The plutonium discovery also suggests that the massive March 14 explosion of Reactor 3, the reactor that contains plutonium MOX fuel, was at least partially responsible for the now-confirmed escape of this deadly element into the environment. Partial meltdowns within the reactor cores have also contaminated cooling water with various radioactive materials, and officials say they appear to be leaking into the water trenches that drain into the ocean. TEPCO is allegedly now working to pump the contaminated water out of the reactors and into storage tanks. Because radiation levels have now exceeded the legal limit of 100 millisieverts, officials have arbitrarily raised that limit to 250 millisieverts in order to keep relief efforts going. As of Monday, 19 plant workers have been exposed to levels of radiation exceeding maximum limits, and several have had to be hospitalized.
