Economic meltdown spurs droves of criminals to take over abandoned, foreclosed homes

(NaturalNews) Nearly a million and a half American homes are currently in foreclosure, which means many residences in various neighborhoods are now sitting empty and abandoned. And according to a recent report by The New York Times (NYT), criminals of all stripes, from prostitutes and drug addicts to gang members and thieves, are taking over these properties and “squatting” them indefinitely. Unable to make their mortgage payments due to job losses and other economic factors, many families, particularly in areas where housing prices spiraled most out of control, have been forced out of their homes in recent years. And taking their place are the dregs of society, who really have nothing to lose by invading formerly-occupied properties and doing whatever they please in them. “They’re becoming a magnet for criminal activity,” said Deputy Inspector Miltiadis Marmara, the commanding police officer of the 133rd Precinct in South Jamaica, Queens, New York, to the NYT concerning the excess of foreclosed properties. “[The criminals] hang out in these abandoned homes that may be foreclosed, or the owners walked away. Every day we respond to something to that effect.” Criminals looking for places to sell drugs, throw parties, steal copper piping and other valuables, and even host residential “strip clubs” are finding refuge, if you will, in these abandoned properties. And although police continue to arrest these squatters, others often just take their place shortly thereafter. New York is not the worst state as far as foreclosures go, either. In Michigan, one of every 322 houses is a foreclosure; while in California, it is one of every 259 housing units. Occupy Wall Street turns violent with mass arrests, police beatings

Chicago forces city employees to participate in ‘wellness’ plan or pay more for health insurance

(NaturalNews) In an effort to cut in half the $500 million-a-year healthcare bill precipitated by Chicago’s city employees, Mayor Rahm Emanuel has initiated a new public employee wellness program that he hopes will turn things around. But according to the Chicago Sun-Times , the program is mandatory for nearly all of the city’s unions and its members, including even those members that already abide by their own personal wellness programs — and individuals that do not comply with it will be subjected to added fees on their health insurance premiums. According to Emanuel, the bulk of Chicago’s health care costs are associated with treating diseases like obesity, diabetes, and high blood pressure, all of which can be effectively “managed,” as he puts it, through improved lifestyle factors like getting more exercise and eating better. The Chicago Sun-Times explains that part of the program involves health coaches checking up on every single employee, for instance, to make sure that they are all following their prescribed “nutritional, medical and physical fitness regimens.” These overarching requirements, which represent a type of healthcare dictatorship, could quickly devolve into a forced adherence to conventional medicine. UK government to save DNA profiles of innocent people, civil liberties groups speak out

(NaturalNews) If you are arrested in the UK on suspicion that you may have committed a crime but are later proven innocent, your DNA profile will still remain within government databases, according to a new report in The Daily Telegraph . After previously promising that it would destroy all DNA profiles of innocent civilians, except when charges involve violence or sex crimes, the UK government has now decided that it will keep such profiles after all, but do so “anonymously.” DNA profiles are encrypted numeric sequences that identify individuals within a database system. Law enforcement agencies use DNA profiles to easily identify individuals for the purpose of parental testing or criminal investigation. But UK officials want to retain all DNA profiles of individuals that are taken into custody, regardless of whether or not they actually committed a crime. The government’s excuse for breaching its promise in the matter is that retained profiles will supposedly be categorized anonymously. However, the UK’s Home Office minister James Brokenshire openly admitted that it is possible to identify the profiles through simple laboratory analysis, which many civil liberties groups say is absolutely unacceptable. “Members of the committee will be aware that most DNA records … will include the original barcode, which is used by both the police and the FSS [Forensic Science Service] to track the sample and resulting profile through the system,” said Brokenshire before the UK Parliament. “It is therefore theoretically possible that a laboratory could identify an individual’s profile from the barcode, but only in conjunction with the force which took the original sample, by giving details of the barcode of the force and asking for the individual’s name.” In other words, the system is anything but anonymous, as it would be quite simple for local police departments to identify an “anonymous” profile by matching barcodes with their corresponding information sets. “This is disgraceful on the part of the government,” said Daniel Hamilton, director of the civil liberties group Big Brother Watch, to the Telegraph . “Destroying physical DNA samples is a pointless gesture if the computer records are to be retained.” Sources for this story include: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/law-and-order/8660821/Innocent-peoples-DNA-profiles-wont-be-deleted-after-all-minister-admits.html

Playing chicken with the nation: The U.S. debt ceiling fiasco and the total abandonment of leadership in Washington

(NaturalNews) For the last few decades, it all seemed so simple for the USA: We’ll spend other people’s money, and when we run out, we’ll just borrow from yet more people. It worked for a while… until all those “other people” (foreign central banks) got sick of buying U.S. debt. So lately, Ben Bernanke, Tim Geithner and other arsonists at the Federal Reserve have simply been counterfeiting new money instead: A whopping $16 trillion of it in just the last couple of years. How much money is $16 trillion? US government openly admits arming Mexican drug gangs with 30,000 firearms – but why?

Although some agents raised concerns about the insanity, they were overruled by the higher-ups in Washington who wanted to pursue this policy for their own reasons. “It made no sense to us either, it was just what we were ordered to do, and every time we questioned that order there was punitive action,” said Phoenix Special Agent John Dodson. But what could be the reasons for Washington initiating such a program in the first place? Why would the Obama administration actively send 30,000 sniper rifles, assault weapons and firearms into Mexico even while claiming to follow an anti-gun stance back in the USA? To answer that question, you need to understand P.R.S — Problem, Reaction, Solution. Suckers and sheeple always believe the mainstream news at face value. They believe we’re under attack from terrorists who bring down tall buildings, or we’re being assaulted by Mexican drug gangs on the border, or we’re threatened by the Swine Flu. That’s what suckers are supposed to believe, you see: That your government is never working against you… it’s always working FOR you, right? But intelligent people know the opposite is true: Your government is usually plotting against you and trying to figure out how to expand its power, expand its reach, reduce your freedoms and control your life. This is accomplished by unleashing the very problems that the government claims to be fighting to prevent. The government, for example, says it’s trying to solve our nation’s economic problems. And how does it accomplish that? By generating trillions of dollars in new fiat currency and handing it over to the criminals running Wall Street. This has the net effect of stealing money from everybody else through dollar devaluation. How does the government solve our national health care crisis? By enacting Obamacare, which mandates that more people buy into a system that has utterly failed to serve the health interests of the American people in the first place! So at the very same time the government says it’s working to improve the economy, it’s actually stealing from you behind your back. At the very same time the government says it’s trying to stop cancer, its own health-related agencies (National Cancer Institute, for example) are openly engaged in massive disinformation campaigns that spread false information about sunlight being “dangerous” to your health (while conveniently ignoring the truth about vitamin D and its cancer preventive properties). The government says it wants to make your food safer , and yet the USDA keeps approving genetically modified foods that are essentially massive biological experiments that cause widespread infertility and disease. The same story goes on and on… with fluoride in the water, mercury in dental fillings, aspartame in diet sodas, pesticide use in agriculture and so on. At nearly every turn, the government itself is actively plotting against the People to keep them financially enslaved, biologically diseased and mentally ignorant. Shipping guns into Mexico, you see, is just a tiny part of the big picture that’s going on today in the USA. The same process — Problem, Reaction, Solution — is in use almost everywhere in government at both the state and federal level.
