Feds raid Obama-touted solar panel company, 900 American workers lose jobs after company files bankruptcy

(NaturalNews) Just days after Fremont, Cal. based solar panel company Solyndra declared bankruptcy and the subsequent layoff of 900 employees, FBI agents raided the company’s headquarters for reasons that have yet to be made public. Solyndra had received more than $500 million in stimulus funds from a federal green energy program to grow and develop new technologies, but the company has now gone downhill. Solyndra, of course, is the same company that President Obama last year touted as an excellent example of the future of green energy. While touring the company’s facilities, Mr. Obama glowingly spoke of Solyndra’s plan to hire 1,000 more workers, and to make enough solar panels throughout its lifetime to replace eight coal power plants. Everything has changed, though, as the company scrambles to reorganize and deal with its massive financial problems, which it had allegedly concealed from members of Congress. “As our investigation continues, we hope to hear directly from Solyndra’s executives next week — the same executives who visited Capitol Hill as part of a PR (public relations) campaign in July and misrepresented the company’s financial situation,” a group of lawmakers is jointly quoted as saying by The Washington Times . Meanwhile, American taxpayers will likely end up footing the bill for this massive debacle, as most of whatever cash is retrieved from the sale of company assets and equity will go to investors — which according to Zero Hedge includes the George Kaiser Family Foundation (http://www.zerohedge.com/contributed/solyndra-obama-connection) — creditors, and company employees. Whatever is left, if anything, will be returned to the government. The entire charade, however, reeks of fraud and mismanagement. The Solyndra scandal truly is a blow to the government’s green energy initiatives, which have been driving traditional energy industries out of business in favor of wind and solar, only to now have taxpayer dollars squandered by companies receiving taxpayer grants. U.S. corporations set to profit well from ‘green’ light bulb production in China, with Treasury Department help

(NaturalNews) Have you heard about those expensive new “green” light bulbs the government will force you to begin using next year? The reasoning behind a law that requires a phase-out of the current incandescent bulbs in favor of the new green bulbs – the latter are more efficient and better for the environment – might be a good idea the surface. But when you find out the same government that is forcing us to begin paying $2-$3 each for light bulbs is not only involved financially with the deal, but is helping to fund the Chinese company that will be making the bulbs, the good intentions begin to lose their luster. According to a recent published report, two U.S. corporations – banking monster Goldman Sachs and networking giant Cisco – have invested mightily in Chinese lighting maker NVC Lighting Holding Co. Ltd., a Cayman Islands-listed firm that was founded in 1998. Goldman Sachs, via its Asian subsidiary, and Cisco, through its investment vehicle SAIF, or SB Asian Investment Fund, began buying the stock in 2008 and 2006 respectively. The lighting company went public in 2010 on the Hong Kong stock exchange, and both SAIF and Goldman Sachs were represented on the board. At the time of NVC’s share offering, SAIF was listed as the largest single shareholder. In fact, SAIF owned 36 percent of NVC’s shares, while Goldman Sachs initially owned about 11 percent, which has dropped to 9.36 percent. The initial buy-ins were particularly timely, because the law requiring a phase-out of old bulbs was passed in 2007. And shortly thereafter NVC, China’s premier lighting company, began a multi-million dollar marketing campaign to make sure that China is successful in manufacturing a huge portion of the new green bulbs Americans and other Westerners are going to be required to use. That’s a nice little financial arrangement if you can get it. Enter the Treasury Department. This entire effort to enrich China’s dominant lighting firm, as well as the U.S. corporations “lucky enough” to have bought into the company just in time , is being funded by a financing vehicle known as the Global Environmental Facility (GEF). And the Treasury Department is a major contributor to the GEF. Overseas sales accounted for 20 percent of NVC’s revenues last year, but the company says it hopes to increase that to 50 percent in the “near future,” according to the company’s prospectus . NVC wants to capture about 21 percent of a $39 billion global industry over the next three years. And, one of the major factors in that growth is the mega-million dollar GEF project. The U.S. (meaning, you ) has contributed $90 million to the fund this year alone, and plans to contribute another $575 million between 2011 and 2014. So in essence, American taxpayers are subsidizing the growth of a Chinese lighting company so it can sell expensive, government-mandated light bulbs back to us, while a pair of well-positioned U.S. corporations profit, all while ensuring that more Chinese workers are employed as the U.S. unemployment rate continues to hover near double digits. Didn’t President Obama just give a jobs speech the other night? Are american children to be used in medical experiments to test anthrax vaccine?

(NaturalNews) The highly controversial and potentially lethal anthrax vaccine may be tested on US children if the federal government gets its way. Although adverse event reports related to the vaccine among adult test subjects have included hospitalization, disability and even death, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is exploring the possibility of testing the vaccine on children. Nicole Lurie, the assistant secretary for preparedness and response at the DHHS, recently requested that the National Biodefense Science Board submit an evaluation of safety issues related to testing the anthrax vaccine on children. The DHHS frames the possible testing as an issue of biodefense preparedness. However, the possibility of pediatric testing of the vaccine both ignores the vaccine’s dangers, and raises the specter of class- and/or race-based selection of medical test subjects which has haunted US health agencies for over a century. Even in the months in 2001 when letters containing anthrax were mailed to several congressional leaders, heightening national fears during the post-9/11 period, Bill First, a physician and then-Senate Majority Leader, urged caution in use of the anthrax vaccine. He told CNN: “There are very real and potentially serious side effects from the vaccine and anyone who elects to receive the vaccine needs to be made aware of that. I do not recommend widespread inoculation. There are too many side effects and if there is limited chance of exposure- the side effects would far outweigh any potential advantage.” A 2007 report by the CDC, along with the Vaccine Healthcare Centers of the Department of Defense and the watchdog group Government Accountability estimated that “between 1 and 2 percent” of vaccinated military personnel, experienced “severe adverse events, which could result in disability or death.” If a vaccine with this kind of reputation is to be tested on children, one has to wonder which children. It is fairly certain those young test subjects won’t be the offspring of high-ranking government officials or corporate vice presidents and CEOs. The history of medical testing carries a taint of racism, classism and opportunism, as health officials select those with less education and fewer choices to be unwitting guinea pigs in medical experiments supposedly in the name of scientific advancement. You don’t have to be a conspiracy theorist or history professor to have heard of the notorious 40-year long Tuskegee experiments in which the US Public Health Service withheld syphilis treatment from infected black men to measure the effects of the disease. In October of 2010, President Obama apologized to Guatemala for tests during the 1940s when the US Public Health Service used prostitutes deliberately infect 700 prisoners, soldiers and patients with emotional and mental problems with syphilis both through visits with prostitutes and pouring bacteria for the disease onto skin abrasions on the subjects’ bodies. Vaccine testing has its own special place in the annals of this kind of integrity-free medical research. In the early 1960s, mentally disabled children at a residential state school in New York were deliberately infected with viral hepatitis so that they could be test subjects for the disease. A 1978 CDC test for a hepatitis B vaccine which sought “promiscuous homosexual male” volunteers has some interesting connections to both HIV and the previously rare opportunistic diseases associated with the AIDS virus. As recently as 1990, the CDC and Kaiser Pharmaceuticals gave 1,500 black and Hispanic 6-month old infants an unlicensed measles vaccine without the approval and consent of their parents. Japanese government admits potassium iodide pills should have been distributed earlier

(NaturalNews) A Japanese nuclear safety official has now publicly admitted the Japanese government improperly withheld potassium iodide from the public for three days following the Fukushima power plant explosion. Kazuma Yokota says the Japanese government was “caught off guard” by the nuclear catastrophe and didn’t realize its people needed potassium iodide until three days later. Associated Press distributed this statement, which has been carried by hundreds of mainstream news organizations: “A Japanese nuclear safety official, Kazuma Yokota, acknowledged that the government only belatedly realized the need to give potassium iodide pills that help reduce chances of thyroid cancer to those living within 12 miles (20 kilometers) of the nuclear complex.” This explanation defies logic, of course. How can a person whose job is to assure the safety of the nuclear industry not realize that an exploding nuclear power plant might be dangerous to its people? This should have been the very first action item made public: Take your potassium iodide! A nuclear plant has just exploded, and radiation is leaking into the environment… what to do? That the explosion at Fukushima did not trigger an immediate announcement for people to take potassium iodide is yet more evidence of Japanese government incompetence or perhaps even a cover-up. It’s almost as if the government didn’t want people to think the explosion was a big deal, so they downplayed the whole scenario and didn’t bother to warn people to take action. Encouraging people to take potassium iodide might have “frightened” them, they probably figured. If that sounds familiar, it’s probably because President Obama has taken exactly the same non-action in the United States, too. Last week, he publicly urged people to do nothing to prepare against the very real possibility of radioactive fallout reaching California (http://www.naturalnews.com/031735_Obama_radioactive_fallout.html). When it comes to taking intelligent action following this nuclear catastrophe — which already ranks as the second worst nuclear accident in the history of human civilization — our governments all earn an “F” grade. Because they failed to warn the citizens to take because precautionary steps, and in doing so, they are setting in motion a sequence of events that will get people killed. Thousands of cases of future cancers may be attributable to the radiation already emitted from Fukushima. Had the Japanese government acted sooner, some of those cancers might have been avoided with potassium iodide. That’s what the substance exists for, after all. If you don’t use it following a nuclear power plant explosion, then why have it at all? We will be fortunate, indeed, if the Fukushima nuclear power plant situation is resolved without further radiation leaks. A close brush with nuclear catastrophe, no doubt. One lesson we can all learn from this is that those who wait for their governments to tell them what to do may pay for their lack of action with their lives. Obama: Criticizing public employees violates their rights

(NaturalNews) At a recent gathering of US governors in Washington, DC, President Obama castigated those who he says are violating the “rights” of public employees by criticizing them. After affirming notions that government spending cuts are necessary, at least as they concern low-level government employees, Obama openly chastised those who dare to speak out against the nation’s “public servants.” You can view the clip of Obama’s speech here: http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2011/02/28/obama_not_good_when_the_rights_of_public_employees_are_infringed_upon.html Presumably a denouncement of those critical of the Wisconsin Democrats who decided to flee the state in order to avoid having to vote on Gov. Scott Walker’s budget proposal, Obama’s dubious statements may also apply to those opposed to the pro-union protests in general. Regardless, the statements send the chilling notion that speaking out against government abuse and excess is a violation of “rights,” even though the rights of all Americans are violated each and every day by these supposed public servants. On the contrary, speaking out against government fraud and those that participate in it is an exercise of the First Amendment to the US Constitution, which happens to guarantee freedom of speech. Whether coming from the mouth of a Democrat or a Republican, statements like Obama’s that associate free speech with violation rights are both dangerous and a serious threat to American freedom. And while Obama is quick to defend the supposed “rights” of public officials, he has remained silent on the rights of individuals who do not work for the government. His policies, including the recent deregulation of GM alfalfa for instance, are a direct slap in the face to the legitimate rights of all Americans to obtain clean, unadulterated food (http://www.naturalnews.com/031196_GE_alfalfa_GMOs.html). Then, there are the constant raids by Obama’s US Food and Drug Administration against raw milk farmers and other producers who are independent of the centralized food system. Where is his concern over their rights? And what about the rights of airline travelers who must now undergo a gross and invasive violation of their privacy when proceeding through the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) security line to walk through the naked body scanner and be molested with a full-body pat down? When it comes to defending “rights,” the Obama administration is only concerned about the rights of some, rather than the rights of all. Obamacare is a perfect illustration of how the administration perceives “rights,” as special exemptions have been made for public officials, insiders, and others who have been granted immunity from having their rights violated by its unconstitutional provisions.
